Founded in 1860, today the Royal Institution of Naval Architects is an internationally renowned professional institution whose members are involved at all levels in the design, construction, and maintenance of marine vessels and structures. Members of the RINA are widely represented in industry, universities and colleges, and maritime organisations world-wide. The RINA enjoys an outstanding reputation for the quality and range of its technical journals, Transactions and conference proceedings, covering all aspects of the maritime industry. The RINA also organises an extensive and successful programme of international conferences, seminars and training courses covering a broad range of experience and opinion on research, development and operation of all aspects of naval architecture and marine technology. Those who have gained an academic qualification in a subject related to the design, construction and maintenance of marine vessels and structures, and are actively working to achieve the standard of professional competence required for full membership of the RINA; or who are involved in the design, construction and maintenance of marine vessels and structures in a technical capacity, may become Associate Members and enjoy the following benefits and services: Free copies of all the RINA's leading technical journals - The Naval Architect, Warship Technology, and Offshore Marine Technology. Free copies of technical papers published in the Transactions ad conference proceedings. Reduced rates on all other publications. Scholarships, Awards, Prizes and sponsored places at RINA conferences, seminars and training courses (if still in full-time education). Advice and assistance on further education, employment, training and professional development after graduation. Access to library and technical research facilities. Opportunity to meet and exchange views with other maritime industry professionals , at local Branches, conferences and online Technical Forums.
