Final Project Overview
Throughout this course, you will gain a personal sense of human activities and behaviors that affect the environment, ecosystems, and biodiversity, and you will become more aware of environmental threats, issues, and hazards. The final project for this course will allow you to explore a specific environmental issue. You will research the causes of the problem, current sustainability strategies, and the impact to the environment. With this understanding, you will formulate a mitigation plan for your issue including its benefits, challenges, and required government, social, and global support.

Final Project Timeline


Budget your time wisely and work on your project throughout the course. As outlined below, some assignments in the course are designed to assist you in creating your final project. If you complete the course activities and use the feedback provided by the instructor, you will be on the right track to complete your project successfully. Suggested in Week One: Review the environmental topics presented in the Week Nine Capstone DQ and think about one you might be interested in researching for your final project. Suggested in Week Three: Decide on an environmental topic you are the most passionate about to research for your final project. Due in Week Four: Urbanization Assignment. If your selected topic is Human Population, take notes on a specific issue within Ch. 7 using the Week Nine final project description as a guide. The Urbanization assignment introduces another result of increased population and discusses its benefits and challenges. Due in Week Five: Atmospheric Issues CheckPoint. If your selected topic is Atmospheric Pollution, take notes on a specific issue within Ch. 8 and Nine using the Week Nine final project description as a guide. The CheckPoint explores one atmospheric issue in depth and presents a solution. Due in Week Six: Water Resource Plan Assignment. If your selected topic is Water Resources, take notes on a specific issue within Ch. 10 and 11 using the Week Nine final project description as a guide. The assignment provides a sustainability plan to a water resource issue that you might expand upon for your final project. Due in Week Seven: Terrestrial Resource Plan CheckPoint. If your selected topic is Terrestrial Resources, take notes on a specific issue within Ch. 12-16 using the Week Nine final project description as a guide. The CheckPoint provides a sustainability plan to a terrestrial resource issue that you might expand upon for your final project. Due in Week Eight: Energy Resource Plan. If your selected topic is Energy Conservation, take notes on a specific issue within Ch. 17 and 18 using the Week Nine final project
