n in talks with IRENA and IRECO on their work on standards, and will be circulating a survey to assess priorities among the Network. Minigrids (Terry Mohn): The group is working on a template to gather information on mini/microgrids attributes; the template will be available for anyone working on minigrids. Sustainable Energy for All updates, commitments and launch of the Practitioner Network report There will be a day-long Energy Day at Rio on June 19th, focusing on different aspects of SE4All, specific panels on energy access and targeted applications. Rio + Social will also be held on this day, with media and twitter coverage. We encourage you to follow these messages and share them within your networks. The UN Foundation will hold a side event on June 18th, where the Practitioner Network recommendations will be officially launched. Copies will be made available at the event, where Gisele Bundchen (international supermodel, UN Goodwill Ambassador) and Dr. Kandeh Yumkella (Director General, UNIDO) are expected to make remarks. 1,500 hard copies of the recommendations document will be available early next week, and the report will be posted on the website as a PDF. Sustainable Energy for All is a key theme of the conference, and we will be using it as a platform to highlight the initiatives three objectives and showcase commitments that have already been made some by Practitioner Network members. Many countries have already opted into the initiative, and after Rio we will be working more closely with you in terms of supporting energy access at a country level. Practitioner Network member presentations Greg Watson, MIF Climate Scope Climate Scope will be deployed at Rio on June 19th. Its goal was to tackle access to information, which is a major barrier in getting energy access to the Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP). Climate Scope is a guide to rank every country in Latin America based on: policy frameworks, clean energy investment and finance by source, and low carbon business value chains. Saurabh Lahoti, Ennovent Ennovent seeks to accelerate innovation and financing BoP solutions in India, scaling sustainable enterprises. Ennovent also looks at how the enterprise can grow and make an impact. Ennovent runs business plan competitions (called challenges), provides networking opportunities, and showcases good investment opportunities to established investors, looking at health, education, food and water. Past Meeting Reports Ashden Awards (Sarah Butler-Sloss) Richenda Van Leeuwen (UNF) chaired the session on energy access. The Gold Award was given to Indian microfinance institution SKDRDP, who has reached 1.8 million households and is planning on scaling up. The other international awardees were Barefoot Power, GIZ, IBEKA and iDE/Hydrologic. Applications for the Ashden Awards 2013 are now starting, with particular emphasis this year on microfinance institutions, avoided deforestation and linkages with agriculture. ADBs Asia Clean Energy Conference (Terry Mohn) Over 850 people from 55 countries attended the conference, with good discussions on energy access, governance and regulation, as well as policy, technology and finance. SOCAP (Niki Armacost) SOCAP Sweden featured Practitioner Network members and highlighted the need for entrepreneurs at different stages and appropriate financing. SOCAP US is coming up in October, and we are working on panel topics featuring practitioners and investors in the energy stream. Africa Europe Energy Partnership, Cape Town (Aneri Patel) More than 300 attendees discussed providing an additional 10,000MW hydro, 5,000MW wind and 500MW solar energy to Africa, with the goal of powering 100 million people by 2020. Increased biofuels, smart grid technology transfer from EU, climate change adaptation were discussed.
