Introduction

Few would argue that Career Planning has little impact on the efficiency and productivity of the government departments. A need was always felt for providing tools for the government officers to provide answers to some of the major concerns of their Careers such as How many promotions can I expect in my Career? When would I get promoted as a Commissioner or Chief Commissioner in my Career? How many vacancies would fall in a particular period? What would be the composition of the Board in 2018? Will I become a Member? Who would be our Chairman on December, 2010? An attempt has been made to provide answers to some of these questions through this application. The accuracy of these would be improved by feedback from all. Till then the application only claims to provide approximate information. Print: This is reserved for release version 1.1.0. This would enable printing of all the reports to the printer. Export to Excel: This is also reserved for release version 1.1.0 which would have improved promotion engine for faster and more accurate processing. Exit: Exits the application

Retirement

From 2003 till today: This provides the list of all officers in the database who have retired till today (i.e. the date of query). Between two dates: You can input two dates in the input box to get the retirements in All the Ranks or just for a particular rank. You have to select the particular rank and category in the two combo boxes in order to get the desired result.

Board Menu

CBEC Composition List: This provides the Boards composition till 1/6/2030 month -wise. This list includes all those who are under deputation currently and assumes that they all return to their parent cadre. This would determine the actual composition of the CBEC on that date. But it is a fair indication of the CBEC as on the indicated months. This treatment of deputations is the reason for the variation between the my promotion prediction and the promotion to Member are per the CBEC list prediction.

Future Chairmen List: This provides you the monthly list of the Chairmen, CBEC until 1/6/2030. Again, the assumption is that the deputationists have returned. However, it excludes those who are currently suspended or not promoted for any reason. This position would alter upon the promotion of such officers.

Promotion Menu

My Promotions: This provides your tentative promotion dates. You have to input your Seniority Number as per the Civil List. For getting your seniority you can use the search by name and search by code facility. Note: - At times it is at variance with the CBEC Composition List which assumes that those under deputation have reverted back to the parent cadre and has joined as Member, CBEC. Such an assumption is not made in the calculation of the My Promotion which does not make this assumption. I would make suitable changes in the promotion engine upon getting more feedback from others. Search by Name and Search by Code Button You can search for your seniority as on 2003 by entering your Last Name or First Name or Officer Code. You can search by providing partial information in case the database spelling is at variance with your actual spelling: e.g., if you enter only three characters such as Mis in the Last Name input box and clear other input boxes then Search Result: List of Officers who have their last names starting Mis--- such as Misra and Mishra. You can also view a particular Batch by entering just the Batch year in the Officer Code input Box: e.g if you enter 88 in the Officer Code Box and then click on the Search by Code button you get the list of all the officers in the Batch of 1988.

Future Releases

The good news is that the future release is already lined up for release in the month of May 2004. Civil List version 1.1.0 would enable printing of the sheets on printer. This would be useful for those who are more comfortable with the paper documents. Civil List version 1.1.0 would also have a more accurate promotion engine for more accurate predictions.
