NOAHH has trained construction site leaders that lead teams of AmeriCorps members, local and non-local volunteers, and other partner families like you. Although our homes are built by volunteers, we still must go through the same inspection process as every home builder. Licensed sub-contractors install the electrical, plumbing, and heating/AC systems, so you can be assured that youre getting a high quality product.

The application process has three stages: 1. Intake meeting At the intake meeting, you will fill out an application that details your monthly incomes and expenses. We will review your credit report. There is a $10 credit check fee for single applicant and a $20 fee for joint applicants (check or money order only). We can allow up to $2,000 in past due debts to be put into payment plans and paid off by closing. If we determine you meet our initial guidelines, you would move to Stage 2. 2. Partner application You will gather documents, we will then review income verification and your monthly expenses. Your case manager will take your application to the Family Selection Committee for approval for the next stage. 3. Home visit Habitat staff members will visit your current residence to assess your need for shelter and further discuss our program with you. Your case manager will take your application to the Family Selection Committee for final approval into the program.

NOAHH is not a custom builder. The majority of the houses are single story 3 bedroom and 1 bathroom houses around 1,100 square feet. The floor plan is determined by the construction department depending on the size of the lot. There is a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom floor plan for larger families. The home owner does get to choose between hardwood floors or carpet, the exterior paint colors, and the counter tops in the kitchen.
