Bulk Service Truck - Services multiple liquids for high demanding applications

The Situation

Our customer liquid service truck is equipped with multiple tanks for efficient servicing. This truck feeds a fleet of leading brands like Mercedes, Scania and MAN with engine oil, hydraulic oil, transmission oil, fuel, water and anti-freeze. These trucks move whole movie sets, backgrounds, cameras, make-up studios, special effect trailers, sound material and movie star trailers. For sure an industry where time is money and where reliability is key. All tanks on the service truck have a maximum capacity of 1.500 liters with various consumption: Engine oil tanks - 100 liters a day Diesel tanks - 2.000 liters a day Hydraulic and transmission oil - 20 liters a day Anti gel fluid - 3.000 liters a year

The pumps are standardized and have all the same caracteristics: Pump pressure of maximum 8 bar Flowrate of 80 liters per minute

The Challenge

Modern engine specifications require clean liquids. The demand results in effective filtration. The service truck requires filtration elements that stop particles between 2 and 10 micron and eliminate moisture and dirt entering the tanks. A set of medium pressure lines were used on top of each others with a non- return valve, all fitted on a proposed two inches pipe. To avoid costly down-time it is very important to meet and exceed the required cleanliness levels of engine manufacturers.

For the diesel tank: Clean.Protect.Polish solutions with P568683+P568666 very fine elements on the clean side, a TRAP breather (DFF0078) on the Protect side and P570329 + P568666 on the Polish side was installed

1 Clean.
Donaldson single-pass filtration on the inlet can be configured for high flow rates while maintaining low pressure drop and reducing contaminants to the desired cleanliness level.

2 Protect.
The Donaldson T.R.A.P . breather prevents dust and moisture from entering while allowing high flow rates of fluid into and out of the tank. 2

3 Polish.
Because unstable fluids and the tank itself can be a source of contamination, final filtration on the outlet ensures that targeted ISO cleanliness levels are achieved.

Donaldson bulk assemblies are manufactured with parallel flow configuration of the filters to reduce pressure drop across the assembly, providing single-pass filtration efficiency, resulting in the targeted fluid cleanliness.

The flow is split between the two filters shown. Half of the flow travels through the first filter and the remaining flow travels through the second filter. Flow does not travel through both filters in sequence.

Fluids pass through the media and cleanliness targets are achieved in a single pass.

Clean fluid is pushed out of the filter, through the head and out into storage or for use.

How a T .R.A.P . Breather Works

Intake Cycle (Inhalation)


TRAPPED MOISTURE

The circuit breathes in air containing moisture vapor. The T.R.A.P . breather strips moisture and particulate from the incoming air, allowing only clean, dry air to enter the circuit.

Outflow Cycle (Exhalation)


During the exhalation cycle, The T.R.A.P . breather allows unrestricted airflow outward. The outflow of dry air picks up the moisture collected by the T.R.A.P . breather during intake, and blows it back out fully regenerating the T.R.A.P . breathers water-holding capacity.
