Product summary
The Bogen UTI1 will provide overhead paging which connects to an FXS port delivered to the customer via an Adtran 6355 onboard FXS port, Adtran TA9xx onboard FXS port, or Cisco SPA 2102 ATA. The Adtran CPE will provide the SIP signaling towards the network as it would in the standard Earthlink Business product.

Hardware Detail and Specifications

For specific hardware details regarding the Adtran CPEs, please see the Earthlink Business CPE matrix. The Bogen UTI1 device is a single unit which connects to the Earthlink Business CPE via an RJ11 connection. The speakers, amps, and inside wiring of such is provided by the customer and is a separate system from the Bogen UTI1.

Configuration Guide
Connect the Bogen UTI1 station port with RJ11 to the Earthlink Business FXS port. This FXS port could be provided by either Cisco SPA2102 or onboard FXS port on an Adtran CPE. On the Bogen UTI1 device toggle the switches to LS for loopstart and station.

To connect the Bogen UTI1 to the customers AMP, connect a single pair wire to the tip and ring of the Page Only terminal. The tip and ring wires are not pair specific. Connect the other end of the single pair wire to the customers AMP.

FXS port configuration on the Adtran CPE follows our standard Earthlink Business Line Side product. No other changes are necessary. See Earthlink Business Line Side MOPs for addition voice configurations. Adtran CPE example configuration for onboard FXS Port: FXS port Example signaling is Loopstart by default.

Troubleshooting the Bogen UTI1

These troubleshooting tips have been provided by Doug Hoffman of Earthlink and are provided to assist the customers phone vendor when turning up this device. If you receive a busy signal after the page is completed, this means that the VOX setting on the UTI1 is set for too long. The VOX setting is the feature that tells the UTI1 how long to stay connected to the ATA, after hearing an absence of voice, before hanging up. Please refer to the manual on page 14 under System Parameters. You will have to use the analog phones to change a setting within the UTI1 by entering a code. Set the VOX setting to 2 seconds. The process is as follows: 1. Plug the analog phone into the override RJ-11 port with the phone cable and place the Program/Run switch to PROGRAM (PGM). 2. Pick up the phone and you will hear three beeps to confirm that you are in programming mode 3. Dial 5-1-2-# 4. You will hear two beeps to confirm that the programming has taken affect 5. Place the override switch back to RUN, Put the phone cable back in between the ATA and the UTI1 Station port, and retest

Refer to the manual for any questions, or feel free to call Bogen for any support. Their support engineers are easy to get a hold of, and very knowledgeable:
