Introduction
The promulgation of employees State Insurance Act, 1948(ESI Act), Encompasses certain health related eventualities that the workers are generally exposed to; such as sickness, maternity, temporary or permanent disablement, Occupational disease or death due to employment injury, resulting in loss of wages or earning capacity-total or partial. The Act also guarantees reasonably good medical care to workers and their immediate dependants. The Central Govt. set up the ESI Corporation to administer the Scheme. The benefits to the workers and their dependants are administered by the Regional, SubRegional and Local ESIC offices through a chain of ESIC hospitals and dispensaries. Employees drawing wages upto Rs. 15,000/- (gross salary) are covered under ESIC. Employees Contribution is 1.75 % and Employers Contribution is 4.75 % of wages.

To enjoy the benefits under ESIC please ensure the following: All employees needs to submit to Company, Properly and completely filled-up ESIC Declaration Form-1 at the time of Joining. If the employee is already having the ESIC cards from the previous employment, share a copy of the card at the time of joining instead of submitting fresh Declarations forms. Pls. ensure to collect the TIC (Temporary Insurance Card) from employer valid for only three months from the data of issue. Employee should contact the local ESIC office alongwith the TIC for Permanent ESIC card, which required Bio-Metric details of the employee and family members required benefits under ESIC. Under Project Panchdeep employee gets pair of magnetic plastic cards, One card with Insured Person and another with family. This will enable the family to avail treatment even when they are away at different locations. The card will have the photographs of all the family members along with their biometric details stored in it. With this Card, an Insured Person or his family members may step in to any ESI Dispensaries, ESI Hospitals, ESI Branch Offices during working hours and avail hassle free facilities/services. Employees need to directly collect the permanent cards from the respective ESIC local office. However if any guidance is required, RHRS team will be available for any assistance.
