SCENE 2: PENNYS / TRACYS / AMBERS (At Penny and Prudys House). PENNY But Mom, all I was doing was watching Corny Collins over at Tracys. PRUDY Didnt I forbid you from listening to race music? Oh, if the police ever locate your father hell punish y ou good. (At Amber and Velmas House). VELMA Your dancing was atrocious yoday, Amb er. Im willing to lie, cheat, and steal to win you that Miss Hairspray crown, but youve got to work with me. Now let me at that zit! (At Tracys House). EDNA Stop! Thats no way to treat clean clothes. Will they give me a chance? Encouragement? Appreciation? No, all I ever hear is... PRINCIPAL Tracy Turnblad, once again your monumental hair do h as seriously obstructed everyones view of the blackboard. As Principal of Patters on Park High, I condemn you to three more days of detention! TRACY Detention! Is there no pity for a teen just trying to fit in? SEAWEED Maybe you shouldnt try s o hard? SCENE 5: THE MADISON DANCE CORNY Hey there you young dancers! Im honored to be yo ur guest DJ here at PHP ... So with no further ado-do, lets do do some dancing. I ts the hottest dance arround and it was born right here in Baltimore! Whats it cal led kids! STUDENTS The Madison Dance! CORNY And where did you see it first? STUD ENTS The Corny Collins Show!
