An Appeal to Fellow Distinguished Alumnus/Life Members of NIE Alumni Association Dear Alumnus,
Pranams and Good Wishes to you on behalf of NIEAA: It gives me immense pleasure as Hon. President of NIEAA to make this Appeal to my Fellow Alumnus/Life Members of NIE Alumni Association. NIE Alumni Association came into existence during August 1957 due to the Interest Shown and Hard Work done by a Handful of Alumnus who thought so. Dr.N.Krishna Murthy who was a well known Teacher in NIE Civil Engineering Faculty and now an Internationally Reputed Structural Engineer, is the Founder President of our Association and the Legendary Late.Prof. S.R.APRAMEYA was the Charter Secretary of our Association. Many distinguished Alumnus of our Alma Mater have Risen to Great Heights in their field of Engineering and many of them have served our Alma Mater in the Teaching Faculty. In-fact, many of our proud Alumni have served as Principals of our great Institution which many of you are aware of. I would like to emphasis on the point stressed often by the most distinguished Alumnus and ICON Sri. N.R.Narayana Murthy, Founder of INFOSYS at various Seminars, Functions including NIE that Alumni of Every Educational Institution across the world are the Backbone of the Success of their Alma Mater and whatever they contribute financially or otherwise would take their Alma Mater to Greater Heights. To make his statement more meaningful, NIE Alumni Association for the first time in its 57 years of Donated Rs.15,00,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakh only) to the Alma Mater towards Improving Digital NIE Library as a Beginning. I am sure you all know that our Alma Mater is now an Autonomous Institute affiliated to VTU Belgaum and we should all be proud of this fact. NIE right from the day of its inception by its 3 most Nobel Founders viz, Late Sri.S.Ramaswamy, Late Sri. T.Rama Rao and Late.Sri. D.V.Narasimha Rao has grown from strength to strength under all the Management and Governing Council the College has seen till today. Proud to know that 1

NIE is rated as one of the Top 50 colleges in the Country and one of the Top 5 in the State of Karnataka and same is being informed to you. NIE Alumni Association was virtually single handedly run by late Prof.S.R.Aprameya for many many years, though the Irony of the fact is that he himself was not an Alumnus of NIE ! of-course with the help of many distinguished Alumni who have served our Association Relentlessly for past 57 years in various capacities and many of them have Donated Liberally to the Association which has kept the Association in tact for 57 long years. The observations made during many of our Annual General Body in the past by our Distinguished Life Members that our Association has to be Financially Strengthened was accepted by the Present Executive Committee which has led us to you with this Appeal. Charity begins at Home they say - Majority of the Present Executive Committee Members and Office Bearers have agreed to pay a sum of Rs.5000/- (Five Thousand only) as per the proposal put up by me before them in one of the EC meeting held recently. I therefore, make a Fervent and Concordant Appeal to All my beloved and Distinguished Alumni to Donate a sum of Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) to the NIE Alumni Association Or NIEA Foundation Trust (Reg.) which is the minimum amount required to be a Donor. However, Alumnus willing to Donate more than Rs.5000/- can also do so, as NIEA Foundation Trust is exempted from Income Tax under 80G of IT Act. The Donations can be sent if by Cheque or DD to The. Hon.
