This article presents about using modern computer to teach and learn English language. Based on the author, the growth of computers in developing countries is so fast, and soon computers with multi functions will become daily necessity. Modern computer could be used as tools to teach and learn English. Eleanor Doan said, Good tools do not make a good teacher, but a good teacher makes good use of tools. As any language teacher knows, the four key communication skills are: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The author of this article explains some practical ideas in using modern computer to foster these four key communication skills of English. The author emphasizes that modern computerbased technologies offer great potential to help students in learning foreign languages especially English. Therefore, good teachers will learn how to integrate and implement these modern technologies into their instruction because good teachers make good use of tools. The first impression to this article is excellent. Because by reading this article, I got new understanding that modern computers can be used to teach and learn English. This article goes in sequential order, and it is easy to follow. It provides a useful background to arouse me to think creatively. As we know that English has four communication skills. They are reading, writing, speaking, and listening. For the students, all of the communication skills seem to master easily because of the authors practical ideas. The author explains step by step

how to learn English by using modern computers. The good potential of modern computer should be used by the English teachers as well. The teachers should not use traditional way to teach English language because the world changes continuously. Although the article gives detail information, unfortunately the author does not give any comparison between using modern computer and other modern technologies in teaching and learning English. It will seem more convincing that modern computer is more effective tool than others. Moreover, there is no explanation about the advantages and disadvantages of using modern computer. It can be as the consideration to use it. I am bloody sure that everything in this world has positive and negative effects, no exception to modern computer. All in all, this article is good, but to make it better, it should give my suggestion above. I recommend reading this article for the students and the teachers. I believe that this article can be useful to give new knowledge.
