Hymns of Praise
GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS Verse 1
7:30 a.m.

WEVE COME THIS FAR BY FAITH

Weve come this far by faith, Leaning on the Lord; Trusting in His holy word, Hes never failed me yet. Oh cant turn around, Weve come this far by faith. Verse 1 Dont be discouraged when troubles In your life, Hell bear your burdens And move all misery and strive. Thats why weve come this far by faith, Leaning on the Lord; Trusting in His holy word, Hes never failed me yet. Oh cant turn around, Weve come this far by faith. Verse 2 Just the other day I heard someone Say he didnt believe in Gods word; But I can truly say that God has made a way, And Hes never failed me yet. Thats why weve come this far by faith, Leaning on the Lord; Trusting in His holy word, Hes never failed me yet. Oh cant turn around, Weve come this far by faith.

11:00 a.m.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father, There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, They fail not, As Thou has been Thou forever wilt be.

Summer and winter and Springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness, To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Verse 2

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence To cheer and to guide; Strength for today and Bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

2 SAMUEL 9:1-11 (NRSV)

David asked, Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul to whom I may show kindness for Jonathans sake?2Now there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was Ziba, and he was summoned to David. The king said to him, Are you Ziba? And he said, At your service! 3 The king said, Is there anyone remaining of the house of Saul to whom I may show the kindness of God? Ziba said to the king, There remains a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in his feet. 4The king said to him, Where is he? Ziba said to the king, He is in the house of Machir son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar. 5Then King David sent and brought him from the house of Machir son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar. 6Mephibosheth son of Jonathan son of Saul came to David, and fell on his face and did obeisance. David said, Mephibosheth! He answered, I am your servant. 7 David said to him, Do not be afraid, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan; I will restore to you all the land of your grandfather Saul, and you yourself shall eat at my table always. 8He did obeisance and said, What is your servant, that you should look upon a dead dog such as I?
1

Then the king summoned Sauls servant Ziba, and said to him, All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your masters grandson. 10You and your sons and your servants shall till the land for him, and shall bring in the produce, so that your masters grandson may have food to eat; but your masters grandson Mephibosheth shall always eat at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. 11Then Ziba said to the king, According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant will do. Mephibosheth ate at Davids table, like one of the kings sons.

Guest Bio
Reverend Dr. Otis Moss, Jr.
Pastor Emeritus Olivet Institutional Baptist Church Cleveland, OH
The Reverend Dr. Otis Moss, Jr., was called to ministry at the age of 17 during his days as a student at Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Morehouse from 19942005. His quest for knowledge and pursuit of educational excellence led him to Morehouse College as a Bachelor of Arts graduate and onward to the Morehouses School of Religion/Inter-Denominational Theological Center where he received the Master of Divinity degree. Reverend Moss selected a further course of Special Studies at the Inter-Denominational Theological Center and ultimately achieved his goal of the Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in 1990. During his early days as a minister, Dr. Moss was blessed to sit at the feet and within the inner circle of many phenomenal persons such as Dr. Benjamin E. Mays and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Both of these persons provided friendship, leadership and spiritual guidance and helped to shape the thinking and model for leadership Dr. Moss represents today. He is recognized across the nation and globe as an eloquent spokesperson and spiritually grounded man of God, carrying the banner for love, justice, equality, and human rights for all. As Dr. Moss so aptly states: My decision to enter the ministry is a gifta special calling from God. His ministry is truly a gift; held up before the world as shining light for all to see. This gift was first discovered in his pastorates at several congregations in the LaGrange and Atlanta areas (including co-pastoring with Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr., at Ebenezer Baptist Church), further developed at Mt. Zion (Cincinnati, Ohio), and reaching full fruition at the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Moss has consulted with Presidents, honored for his work in civil rights, and delivered the Word of the Gospel all across the globe. He is recognized and revered for his dedication to all humankind. The accolades and achievements of the Reverend Dr. Otis Moss, Jr. are great in number and they supercede the barriers of color, race and religion. The Reverend Dr. Moss is married to Mrs. Edwina Moss and they are the proud parents of three children: Kevin, Daphne (deceased) and Otis III. Dr. and Mrs. Moss are the proud grandparents of Alexis, Andre, Kevin, Jr., (Deceased), Elijah Wynton Taylor Moss, and Makayla Elon Moss, and great-grandparents of Nikayla Moss.

COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORMS IMPACT ON BLACK IMMIGRANTS

Sunday, June 30, 2013

2:30 p.m. 4:30 p.m. Sanctuary
. . .and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 (RSV)
WHERE IS THE JUSTICE? For 200 years, millions of Africans were forced to immigrate in slave ships across the Atlantic Ocean to become slaves in the U.S., the Caribbean, and South America. Today, 150 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Africans make up only 3% of all immigrants to the U.S. Our African brothers and sisters immigrated to the U.S., to a great extent, as refugees, or through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. The Gang of Eight removed the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program from the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill (CIRB). We support reinstating the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program to the final immigration reform bill. Our African ancestors endured the most savage form of slavery known to humankind. They built this country through their slave labor, blood, sweat and tears. Our African ancestors left their descendants a legacy to immigrate to the U.S. as effortlessly as any European can. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?

Forum Panelists Include: The Honorable Congressman Bobby Rush Dr. Alie Kabba, Executive Director of United Africa Organization; current president of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights Nigerian Attorney, Ebere Ekechukwu The Honorable Judge Lionel Jean-Baptiste, of Haiti and head of the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti Mr. Gaye D. RAISING LEADERS and DEVELOPING DISCIPLES

January Matthew 16:24 (NLT) Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me." February Luke 4:18-19 (NIV) The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lords favor. March Luke 10:19 (NIV) I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. April Romans 10:1-2 (NLT) Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. May 1 Corinthians 13:8 (NIV) Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. June Romans 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. July Philippians 4:13 (NLT) For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. August Jeremiah 1-7 (NLT) The Lord replied, Dont say, Im too young, for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you." September Isaiah 1:3 (NLT) Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its masters carebut Israel doesnt know its master. My people dont recognize my care for them. October Isaiah 40:29 (KJV) He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. November John 17:21 (KJV) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. December Matthew 1:23 (KJV) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
