MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTION

MEMOTO-A life logging camera is a Swedish startup that is a tiny automatic camera and GPS that helps us search and share photographic memory. It is derived from a combination of two different words memory and motor where we can re-live the moments as it was. This technology was first started up in October 2012 at Sweden. It is a new kind of digital camera without any control. This is a life logging technology which is made possible with the help of the Memoto application. It is easy to wear and has got a LED battery life indicator. The image analysis and organization is made out of the images metadata such as time, place and light. This enables us to not only browse our life the way we remember it, but to search for specific events of our life. This is developed in such a way that it can be clipped to clothes or worn on a necklace, which takes pictures every 30 seconds, allowing us to record our daily lives. It is the latest new technology that is very useful and essential to all of us. This helps store the images, have a control and with great preservation and convenience. It is very easy to use and need not carry on but just clip on and it just works.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY TECHNOLOGY VISION & VIABILITY MEMOTO aims at attracting a large number of people to use this technology whereby they get benefitted out of this in a large way. However it has got few things to focus on how to make use of this and with many features in-built in this tiny technology. The following are the main characteristics of MEMOTO which it visualizes itself to the world:

Memory It has got a large memory space which stores more pictures in order to remember more. It is stored for future reference. Re-experience It re-experiences the past moments by which it is stored automatically. It helps in reliving the moments from ones own and others lives. Surprise It is such a technology where we will be surprised to see different pictures that we had never ever expected as it clicks automatically. Presence Its presence seems different which avoids disturbance by clipping it on our clothes and carry on with our work. Life improvement It helps improve our own behavior using data to observe our mistakes and correct ourselves. Preservation It serves as a future document either for our personal use or for any official purpose. Control It has got a self control with a confidence that our pictures are stored and secured safely.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY MOTIVATION The idea of capturing pictures has morphed in the recent years. This technology is based on life logging which means any activity that is used to track ourself. It serves as a visual experience with the ability to track each and every moment. Life logging is becoming more and more popular with time. Over the last couple of years weve seen products for both hard-core enthusiasts and mainstream consumer products. Most services either have a social or a health aspect to them as well, sometimes both. Tracking for instance sleep, mood and weight has often emerged among early-adopter enthusiasts but later developed into alternatives for the consumer market as well. The following are the motivating points where one gets benefitted out of this technology:

It mainly aims at life casting but a movement towards seamlessly logging everything has grown. It focuses on self-examination rather than broadcasting ourselves to others. It motivates we users to use this technology is that it comes with a companion application that handles all our photos for us. Whenever we charge the device, the photos will automatically get stored to Memotos servers. Then the application will sort our geo-tagged photos on a timeline, segmenting our photographed day into moments, while highlighting the best shots for us. The application denotes where and at what time it was taken. It is famous for its accurate time and place. This technology helps us to find a way to capture more of our lives, and enjoy the present as it happens. MEMOTO is for everyone who would wish to go back and relive their life at any time in the future. There hasnt been any good way of capturing all the everyday moments those we may not consider special but still make up the bigger part of our lives.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENT-HARDWARE

The main hardware device of the MEMOTO consists of mechanics, electronics and firmware. The hardware components are specified in the above diagram as it has got the camera lens, a battery indicator and a clip to wear on our clothing. The mechanics on how it works are often overlooked. The main advantage is the 3D printed prototypes that have taken a long way through to finalize the hardware. The electronics has taken even longer to develop. The evaluation kits and break-out boards are usually put together to a complete set of components in order to be able to start development of the firmware. At the same time a circuit board design has made that fits all the components into a

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY very tiny package. The hardware component consists of a small life logging technology which stores up to 4000 images per day. The external physique seems small and easy handling by everyone. Components of Hardware The main hardware components of Memoto are: GPS Antenna Power consumption New Camera Modules Casing Pre-production and Mass Production 136-degree fisheye semi-wide-angle lens, 5MP image sensor and an OLED display. As for Connectivity Memoto comes from Bluetooth, so we can transfer our pictures to iPhone easily by using a dedicated application. It's fairly light at 58g, its as simple and innocuous as we could get and it rather comes off like a small Flip video camera. A touch of a button reveals an OLED reading of the Memoto's settings through a transmissive section of the plastic casing. As it goes, there is purposefully not an awful lot to choose from. We can select between three settings relating to sensitivity of the sensors and therefore we can take many pictures per day. We can also turn the Bluetooth on and off to save the battery.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENT-SOFTWARE

Memoto's software organizes the photos to work as a photographic memory even after many years, without we using it easily or disorganized. The Memoto application organizes all the photos into groups of moments on a timeline and makes them conveniently searchable and shareable. The timeline shows about 30 key frames from each day, each representing a moment we can tap to relive. The image analysis and organization is made out of the images metadata, such as time, place and light. This enables us to browse our life the way we remember it. Desktop software gives the different views of how the software enables us in viewing the pictures snapped. This software package helps us view, edit and share our imagery when we are back at base. Smartphone application pairs our mobile phone with our camera via Bluetooth. It allows us to preview, browse and share all of the images inside our Memoto when we are on-the-go. We can also set modes, adjust capture settings and check your battery level and memory capacity. All we have to do is clip on and sync to start

Designed to be worn around the neck, or clipped to clothing There are three ways to browse our image gallery: Stream View: Display images in an endless, chronological stream. Calendar view: It displays images by day or by event. Cinema View: Display images in full screen mode and enjoy the slideshow. The software helps the sensor readings to display every image, showing location, light levels and even temperature. We can also manipulate this data to visualize our own life. We should create unique content in the form of GIF's and stop-frame videos which we can share directly with friends and family. This displays our life creatively. The Memoto application is designed to help us view, tag and share our images on the go. Easy sharing buttons to post a single image or a unique Memoto creation to any kind of social networks is possible. It helps create image sets, gifs and stop-frame videos. Memotos five sensors and GPS:

Accelerometer: measures how quickly or slowly the Memoto is accelerating. Colour sensor: Memotos eye, perceiving light and brightness and adjusting the image accordingly. Magnetometer: determines which direction the camera is facing. PIR: motion detector that uses infrared light to sense moving objects. Temperature: inbuilt thermometer, measuring ambient temperature. GPS: Memotos locator pinpointing the cameras position on earth.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY Weve always thought about how much of life that goes missing from our memories. Many fantastic and special moments become blurred together after a while and it feels like life just rushes by, too fast for us to grasp. This technology design has got 3D printed prototypes with no electronics inside.

This small and very useful prototype does everything a final camera will do, which takes photos and registers the GPS position whenever and wherever possible. It locates itself with a GPS locator, a SOC module, a camera module with the help of an antenna which snaps pictures automatically when it is clipped on to us. This design and model is very handy where it troubles none when it takes photos as well as storing it in a secured place. The design seems easy and effortless with a long battery life which stores pictures up to 4000 pictures for two days within the first charge.

The GPS data gets its antenna position from the Memoto prototype camera. Miniaturizing the electronics

11 Commerce Department SKASC

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY It has not only got miniaturized circuit board which has been designed by one of Sweden's foremost digital camera engineers who are working, but it is also undergoing careful review and approval from the outside sources:

It fits into the camera casing without causing any problems during assembly or long term use.

It verifies our power management and battery life. It verifies overall build quality and circuit wiring. It verifies that the GPS functions properly and to compare it with their reference design.

It verifies our antenna placement in relation to other components and the casing.

It has got an 8GB flash memory. It has got the RAM facility that helps access if we know the outline as to how a technology has to be performed.

It has also got a Micro processor unit (MPU) which processes the technological changes and actions.

The final design is visually clean and the body appears relatively minimal, contrasted with the stronger and clearly identifiable Memoto eye lens detail. To achieve this they have used innovative plastics, precision metals and hidden displays. Wearable Memoto is ultra-compact, stylish and light enough to wear. Its designed to be versatile we can clip it to our jacket, hang it around our neck or place it on the table at a dinner party. The possibilities are endless. Adaptable Memoto is designed to adapt to our life. The battery lasts for one full day of use without recharging. The control panel lets us choose to dial up the rate of image capture during our highest octane experiences. We can easily keep private moments discreet by closing the lens cover and take it

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM STUDY AND FEASIBILITY STUDY

When we study about this technology we come to know about many things that a MEMOTO does. The following ideas come out when we briefly have a study and look over MEMOTO:

The two photos snapped every minute contain both location and orientation data. A built-in GPS records where it was shot, while a built-in accelerometer makes sure that all our photos are upright regardless of how the camera is being worn. The batteries inside the 1.41.4x0.35 inch camera lasts two days on a single charge, and are recharged by plugging the camera into our computer which conveniently also backs up our memories to Memoto servers. Two days is also how long the camera can snap away for before we need to clear the onboard storage space which is about 4000 photos. The camera will be safe to wear in our daily outdoor life, which includes any conferences and board meetings.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY

The camera contains 8 GB of flash memory, storing about the equivalent of a full battery life cycle worth of photos. When the photos are uploaded, we are compressing them further with minimal impact on visual quality to be able to store them at an affordable cost. The camera will turn itself off when it is laid flat or put in a dark place, such as a pocket. Otherwise, it will be remain on. The camera has light detection capability and will not take pictures in really dark environments. This is a way to conserve battery power and make the camera sleep. Also, this way we will not end up with thousands of black images. The 5.0MP sensor is from Omnivision and uses their back-light illuminated BSI pixel technology. There are few sensors that would perform better at difficult lighting conditions while also fitting into this very small camera body. The camera module has a fixed focus lens with 70 degree viewing angle. The near focus limit we will choose is pending user testing. The application comes with features for sharing through the biggest social media services. However, Memoto pictures will always be private by default. That is, only we can share pictures when we deliberately want to share them. We will be able to temporarily store data on our computer while traveling in areas with no Internet connection. The data will be uploaded to the servers and processed at the next synchronization. Moreover, local storage is an option. We will however not be able to use the data from the GPS and we will have to manage and organize all the photos our self. The data from the GPS is not converted into a useful position in latitude and longitude until it has been processed in our cloud service. The first year we can use the Memoto Application and cloud storage for free. After that, we have to download all our photos if we don't want to

15 Commerce Department SKASC

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY keep using the Memoto Application and keep using the camera with local storage only.

We will always be able to download our life log in bulk, even if it is to upload it to a competing service. We will also provide an open API, to allow others to build stuff on top of our storage. The retail price of the camera is $279 where it costs 15,116.22 in Indian rupees.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS OF TECHNOLOGY MEMOTO has got different applications where it can and keep itself ready to use for different purposes. The following are the simple applications that are used in this particular technology:

We can Access our life through the Memoto application

With this application we can take many pictures captured and stored every day, we think its crucial that we can easily browse among the best and most meaningful ones. The application we're building for iPhone and Android organizes the photos to work as a photographic memory even after many years.

Concept images of the Android application. Left: Login screen. Right: Moment view in private mode.

Relive our life like we remember it

The way this works is that the photos are organized into groups of "moments" on a timeline. On the timeline, we're presented with key frames (about 30 per day) each representing one moment. We can tap a moment to relive it in a stopmotion like video of all the pictures in that moment. The image analysis and organization is made out where it helps know the time, place and date. This enables us to not only browse our life the way we remember it, but to search for specific events of our life. This application organizes all our photos on a timeline, making them easy accessible to search and share.

Our photos are ours and only we can share them

The application comes with features for sharing through the biggest social media services. However, to stress Memoto pictures will always be private by default. Only we can share pictures when we deliberately want to share them.

Cutting the storage costs at least in half

The Memoto Camera potentially produces a huge amount of bits and bytes. 4 GB data per day amounts to up to 1,5 terabyte per year. Instead of we storing all this on unreliable and expensive hard drives that can get stolen or lost, Memoto offers safe and secure infinite photo storage at a flat monthly fee, which will always be a lot more affordable than hard drives.

To help people with Alzheimer's disease

The Memoto was designed to help people with Alzheimer's disease or other memory problems to capture their life experiences and share them with their doctors. The Memoto's medical application was featured in the recent times.

It could settle a lot of disputes

If police officers, traffic wardens, ticket inspectors, guard dogs etc., wore Memoto it could settle a lot of disputes. It could also improve behaviour, if people know everything is being recorded.

In fields ranging from computer game development

The Memoto, which can be worn around the neck, clipped to clothing or placed in a particular vantage point, is the first consumer device whose stop-motion technology is used in fields ranging from computer game development to surveying roads.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION DRIVEN APPLICATORS

The 8-layer High-Density-Interconnect printed circuit board with laser drilled blind and buried has the following fine components on which a technology works: The Memoto camera is small and uses fine-pitch BGA components with as small as 0.5 mm (0.02") distance between the pads. The use of an 8-layer IPC-2226 Type-II HDI (High Density Interconnect) PCB of 4/4 mil track/space, with filled and capped laser-drilled partial vias of 0.1 mm (0.004") diameter between the outermost layers as well as buried vias, which are mechanically drilled partial between layers inside the PCB. This via technology, including placing inside the BGA pads, is required to avoid interfering with routing on the top and bottom component layers and make room for fine-pitch BGA escape.

20 Commerce Department SKASC

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY Due to the presence of high-speed USB tracks and antenna signals on the PCB, it also has been impedance controlled which involves analysis of how the electric fields behave in the metal layers relative to the other dielectric layers in the PCB." It is a technology which can be used anywhere and everywhere except for places where taking photos are banned. Create unique content in the form of GIF's and stop-frame videos which we can share directly with friends and family. Display our life, creatively. The sensor readings are displayed alongside each image, showing location, light levels and even temperature. Manipulate this data to visualize our life. Fitness tracker meets camera: Memoto is just the latest in a growing pack of wearable technology that has been lead by fitness devices. While the Memoto significantly differs in function, we imagine it will appeal to the same set of users those who are obsessed with recording and analyzing every detail. Each photograph taken by the Memoto will record the metadata from its five sensors allowing us to sort our pictures by data like temperature, time, and more. Memoto is primarily meant to be used in conjunction with its iOS application and desktop software. Apparently there is an option in that software to whip up a quick GIF an easy way to work on.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY Memoto will provide an API. It helps in creating opportunities for a healthy ecosystem of applications to grow, and the best way for us to do this is by providing an API. It has got great opportunity among the business people in future generation. After reaching a certain level of funding Memoto is ready to fund towards other projects like Memoto Wi-fi dock, water proof case and the wide angle lens gadgets.

THREATS: Getting the design and construction ready for production. All the components must fit together, literally water tight. There is so much to take into regard when finishing this up. Fitting the electronics into such a tiny shell. This is no small feat. We have a functioning prototype with all the components in place.

MEMOTO TECHNOLOGY CONCLUSION AND FINDINGS Demand is hard to gauge, but the timing is good for a product like Memotos camera from a technology point of view. In the past, life logging devices havent enjoyed the easy storage management offered by the cloud. They havent had companion apps that do all the data sorting for us. They havent been as small as the Memoto device. They havent had slickly produced promotional videos that tickle our emotion bones. And it has never been this cheap. Findings: Memoto snaps a single 5-megapixel photograph every 30 seconds as long as its clipped to us. Only when we put it down or into our pocket does it stop. The result is a production ready construction of a weather protected, very strong and well designed camera casing.
