Park Night Essay Final Draft Section:C 1/22/2013 In the novel Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie explains how imperative it is to support his fellow Jews throughout the Holocaust. The Nazis nefarious actions made the Jewish people feel less than human. It was important for the Jews to support each other through this long, horrific time period because those relationships gave them a small percentage of hope. Every Jewish person in a concentration camp during World War II was dehumanized and made to feel less than human. Elie endured every day of anguish in the concentration camps along with his father until the end. Three people who had the biggest impact on Elies life are Moishe the Beatle, the Nazis, and Elies father. Three people who make the biggest impact on Elies life are Moishe the Beatle, the Nazis, and Elies father. The first way Moishe impacts Elies life is when they start praying together all the time. I pray to the god within me for the strength to ask him the real questions (Wiesel 4). Then as Moishe and Elie prayed more, Moishe becomes Elies mentor. The last way Moishe impacts Elies life is when Moishe is transported to the concentration camps but manages to escape and tries to warn Elie and the other Jews. I no longer care to live. I am alone. But I wanted to come back to warn you (Wiesel 7). Had Elie listened to Moishe like he would any other time, Elie could have prevented the Jews of Sighet from being imprisoned by the Nazis. The first way the Nazis impact Elies life is when they take away the rights and freedom of every Jew in Sighet. Every Jew had to wear the yellow star (Wiesel 11). The second way the Nazis impact Elies life is when they strip the Jews of their humanity by tattooing identification numbers on their arms which strips them of their identity. The Nazis are responsible for making the Jews think there is no god because if there was a god, he wouldnt have let the Jews suffer. Why do you go on troubling these poor peoples wounded minds, their ailing bodies? (Wiesel 66). The only thing left to remember of the Holocaust is the nefarious actions of the Nazis and tattoos etched in every Jews left arm.

Elie felt as though his father gave him every reason to live ever since his mother was split up. Elies father is a respected leader in the Jewish community of Sighet. The Jewish community of Sighet held him in highest esteem; his advice on public and even private matters was frequently sought (Wiesel 4). Without his father by his side, Elie would not have had the resolve he had to survive. I could have screamed in anger. To have lived and endured so much; was I going to let my father die now? Now that we could be able to take a good how shower and lie down? (Wiesel 105). The last way Elies father impacts Elies life is by dying. Elie has the resolve that there was no reason for living anymore, he was heartbroken. His last word had been my name. He had called out to me and I had not answered (Wiesel 112).

There was no way to escape the life of the Jews that the Nazis have given them. The Nazis take away the vitality of the Jewish people. No one has a greater impact on Elies life than Moishe, Elies father, and the Nazis. These relationships were important throughout the Holocaust because without them, the Jews wouldnt have as much hope as they do and it also kept them alive because they didnt go completely crazy. Every Jewish person who did and didnt experience the Holocaust can still share the same lament.
