Key Features & Benefits

Engine Cat C9 engine with ACERT Technology certified to China Stage II emission regulations that is equivalent to EPA Tier 2 or EU Stage II emission levels. This engine replaces the Cat 3176C engine certified at EPA Tier 2 or EU Stage II emission levels used on the D7R Series II and will allow future growth to EPA Tier 3 or EU stage IIIA equivalent emission levels as emerging markets dictate and/or require for the D7R. All variants of the D7R (Standard, XR and LGP) will be 179kW (240hp) net engine power at 2100 rpm advertised rated speed. A maximum net engine power of 194kW (260hp) occurs at 1900rpm and represents no change over D7R Series II machine. Superior net engine torque rise at 50% delivers superior lugging capability.

Aluminum Bar Plate Radiator Cooling system (right) that replaces the NGMR cores on the D7R Series II. The Al-bar plate technology delivers improved corrosion and abrasion resistance and increased fin spacing. A trash resistant version will be available.

Caterpillar designed and manufactured Power Train Unique Torque Divider Planetary Power Shift Transmission Differential Steering

v2011-11-18

The D7R will feature the reliable and durable Torque Divider that is unique to Cat Track-type tractors that adds efficiency in utilizing 30% of the engine torque transmitted through a planetary gear set in the torque converter as direct drive. The torque converter provides cushioning to the remainder of the drive line and necessary torque multiplication. The Torque Divider is connected to the three speeds forward and three speeds reverse planetary Power Shift transmission. This transmission is mechanically controlled and is expected to deliver unrivalled reliability in the remote locations within Emerging Markets as a Voice of Customer deliverable. Differential Steering is mechanically controlled and maintains an unmatched steering system to competitors offering. Differential Steering provides a platform where there is uninterrupted power to both sides of the track when turning as compared to Clutch/Brake systems that interrupt power to a track side when turning. Differential steering provides constant center-line speed by simply speeding up one side and slowing down the other and demonstrating unmatched performance when spreading loads when maneuvering around obstacles on construction sites. Undercarriage Heavy-Duty Sealed & Lubricated Track as standard equipment Elevated Sprocket (hi-drive) configuration for Final Drives Pivot Shaft Design

The D7R will continues to feature Heavy-Duty Sealed & Lubricated track links with Tough Steel sprocket segments as standard equipment for the Standard, XR and LGP variants. Heavy-Duty Sealed & Lubricated track delivers the best performance when operating in high impact and general conditions seen globally. This undercarriage has the ability to continue in lowering operating costs by completing a pin-bush turn at link mid-life to provide the customer with unmatched undercarriage life. The Elevated Sprocket design removes the planetary Final Drives from impact shock loads and material sprocket packing to provide durable life and extending undercarriage life. The location aids remove and install times of major components that have customers back at work with minimal down time. The Pivot Shaft design assists to provide track oscillation as well as transmit forces back into the machines mainframe. Idlers, Track and Carrier Rollers are lifetime lubricated and guaranteed not to leak. They also offer a Sustainability element to the machine in the ability to re-use the internal components and either re-shell or rebuild the outer component. Operator Station Low Effort and precise implement controls Single control for direction and speed changes Simple easy to read instrument panel Cat suspension seat offset 15 degrees

Wide retractable seat belt (75mm/3in)

Pilot hydraulics for blade and ripper controls provides low effort and precise control of implements. Linked with ergonomic control handles with adjustable arm rests provide an operator station that will reduce fatigue over long periods and ultimately higher production. Pilot hydraulics also allow for the integration of Machine Control & Guidance controls such as AccuGrade in automatic control to grade in laser and three dimensional (3D) systems. The Differential Steer tiller bar provides all direction and speed controls in a single control lever that reduces fatigue and provides a more comfortable operator station when on construction sites where maneuverability is a key feature when navigating obstacles.

The AccuGrade Blade Control System is an integrated machine control and guidance system which enables operators to grade and fill with increased accuracy, minimizing the need for traditional stakes and grade checkers. The AccuGrade option will include an additional machine ECM (Electronic Control Module) to meet automatic control features and can accommodate Laser (right), GPS or UTS systems.

The instrument cluster (right) is the same as offered in the D6R and provides clear operating ranges of key machine parameters and a simple three-level warning system of critical system functions. This allows the operator to concentrate on the task at hand.

The Cat comfort suspension seat that can be adjusted to many positions, is off-set by 15 degrees and with the notched fuel tank offers excellent visibility to rear implements and when reversing on a construction site. The Seat has a wide 75mm (3in) retractable seat belt as standard equipment that ensures the operator is secure in the seat for operating the machine. High visibility when on a construction site where obstacles are present and a wide retractable seat belt that secures the operator in the machine. World class safety features.
