INTRODUCTION

The Field Study 3 (Technology in the Learning Environment) is a one unit subject which usually combined with another professional education subject. It provides the appreciation of the available learning resources and the integration of the technologies in the learning environment. It also gives a preparation for the future teacher so that when they are already in the field, they can make use of the skills and knowledge that they have acquired on this subject. This compilation of my work consist of seven activities where in each task for each activity are already accomplished and I added a taste of my art skill to make it presentable. The first activity was the The School Learning Resources where in the target competency was the FS student should be able to identify and classify resources that facilitate teaching and learning processes. The second activity was the Bulletin Board Display which requires each group to make their own bulletin board. Thus, the FS students will be able to appraise the effectiveness of displays as learning resources and design a bulletin board display. The third activity was the Utilization of Teaching Aids. The FS student has to make an observation of the class and list down the teaching aids that were used then make a comment of the appropriateness of these teaching aids. The fourth activity was the A Teaching Aids Bank and the objective of it was to prepare instructional materials that are appropriate to the learning content. This is another group activity which will develop the teamwork of FS students. The fifth activity was the Classroom Handouts which aimed for the FS students to prepare instructional materials that are appropriate to the learning content. The sixth activity was the Slide Presentations which will be accomplished with the utility of MS PowerPoint. The target competency was to develop and utilize materials which involve students in meaningful learning. The students are also expected to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of slide presentations in facilitating the teaching-learning process. Lastly, the On line Learning which has an objective of making the FS students determine the appropriateness of the internet resources to the learning tasks. Above all, this is another piece of work that required me to be responsible, creative, resourceful, patient, cooperative, and thankful and kept me interested in learning different things.

ACKNOWLEDEGEMENT

This is another piece of work of my hands and mind that I will treasure for the rest of my life. To accomplish this Field Study Portfolio was a challenge that I have to survive and I was very thankful that I made it through. But, I know that I will not be able to produce this portfolio without the help of the Almighty God who gave me the knowledge and skills that are needed to do each activity. I would also like to extend my gratitude to my family for being always there to support me especially to my brother who let me use of our printer to printout this beautiful portfolio of mine and to our furniture shop too for providing the wood materials. GENERAL REFLECTION
Looking back to the times when I am doing each task of Field Study 3, I found it challenging, exciting and every hard work worth it because whenever I see my product I feel satisfied. Most important is I always learn something once I accomplished each activity. The first activity has so many tasks but I am thankful I was able to do those. Taking pictures and asking permission from teachers is a bit challenging because it requires us to have self confidence and respect. I used my cell phone in capturing pictures and sometimes I just sneaked in a room just to get pictures. Documenting the process is very important because it will remind you of how things happened. It took three days to complete the pictures of learning resources. In doing my reflection, it will take a long time to reflect if my mind is not set to do it. No matter how I try to write, if I am not mood I will not be able to write something on it. Generally, doing reflections is an easy task because I have been doing it since first year. The activities that I enjoyed so much were the activity number 2 and 4 or the activities in groupings. I know I enjoy doing group works if my group mates are doing their responsibilities. I was the leader in the group but I believe no matter how good you are as a leader if your members are not responsible, it will not help to reach the groups goal. My group mates are also my friends and we have been working together for many times and we always have an enjoyable process and good product. When a work is in groupings and each member functions well, it will surely result to an excellent work. The most interesting activity was the Teaching Aids Bank. I was really motivated to do that task and I had an unforgettable experience while I am doing that activity. We did the teaching aids in my classmates house and it was late when we finished it. When its almost time to go home, the heavy rain fell, there are no jeepney passing but there was a kalesa, so we took the chance of riding in a kalesa and it was my first time to do that. I enjoyed it so much, the rain, the kalesa riding and the dark night..it was really an unforgettable experience. And every time I remember that, I will also remember of how we did the teaching aids bank activity. Thus if an activity is done by hands on, it will surely retain to the learners mind. I am so thankful that we have a computer and we are connected to the internet, it helped me to finish my portfolio for Field Study 3. I can also experience hands on learning because I was the one operating the computer and I always discover something new. In my first year I only made one slide presentation in my major subject and my PowerPoint is was just really simple. But now, I have learned a lot and I can navigate the program easily. Honestly I had hard time to copy the page of a website for the activity 7 but I searched in the internet on how to do it then I applied what I have read and its done. I made it. The internet is a great help to learn something new. The technology integration in the learning environment helps a lot to both learners and teachers. It will produce graduates who can compete globally. But it is challenging to teachers in schools where computers are not provided. With the creativity and resourcefulness of teachers, they can produce other teaching aids to make the learning and teaching process interesting, hands- on, enjoyable and effective.

MY REFLECTION Internet is a means of connecting a computer to any other computer anywhere in the world via dedicated routers and servers. When two computers are connected over the Internet, they can send and receive all kinds of information such as text, graphics, voice, video, and computer programs. In order for students to be successful, they must have a global view of their future. The Internet is one of, if not the most important, tool a person has to be successful in their future. It provides jobs, resources and communication all over the world. It is essential that children learn to use and learn from the Internet. Children need to understand Internet safety as well. For young children there should be limitations as to the websites students can visit and the length of time. There are many websites that offer software for schools and parents to make sure their children are being safe on the Internet. In the definition above, it mentioned the meaning of internet and the importance of it. I agree that internet is important in education especially in this new computer era. There are websites that provide information about a particular topic in any level of education. I believe that its fair that we have to teach hands on learning of computer to young children but we also have to watch them and limit them to the sites that are not appropriate to them. In my observation, the class has a topic about colors where in the teacher has teaching aids of big crayons made of Styrofoam. She points at the color as she says the name of it. Thus, I looked for sites which will provide materials and program activities about colors. I looked for websites which are age appropriate. Since I observed preschoolers the websites I chose are for young learners. I looked for full of fun activities and also games about colors. This activity has taught me a new skill. I was trying to look for the Print icon of each website so I can copy it to my MS word document but I failed to find it. I copied it but it does not appear like the website. So I search to Google and it appeared that I have to hold of Alt+Print Screen and I have to open PowerPoint and copy it there by holding of Ctrl+V. Then copy the slide to the MS word. That experience is discovery learning. The computer and internet can provide that kind of learning. As a teacher we have to assist our learners on how to use these inventions in a proper way. Having knowledge of using computer is an opportunity to open the worldwide learning to pupils and students. Let our learners enjoy learning by providing the appropriate websites where we can get our materials, ideas for activity and educational games.
