A Successful Life

Someone who has a successful life must be able to set goals and accomplish those goals. There is a common denominator for a truly successful life, and it is to include wisdom, faith in a higher being, and peace. Wisdom is the ability to have common sense and good judgment. Faith is an understanding that we are just part of the creation of something bigger than us that is unexplainable. Success is never reached unless you have peace. Being able to have self knowledge, and act according to what is in the best interest for our individuality and the people who surround us is wise. The reason most of our leaders are old is because they are wiser and have more knowledge. They have lived longer lives, and they have more experience, which usually makes them have a bette

Do you get what I just said? The secret to your successful week, the secret to your successful year, the secret to your successful life is determined by what you do with today!!! Let that sink in. You see we over exaggerate yesterday, we overestimate tomorrow and we underestimate today!!! We tend to complain a lot about yesterday and what we should have done and what did not go right etc and then we think that tomorrow we will be able to do a whole lot and we have all these big plans about what we will do tomorrow but the fact remains that we underestimate the importance of today. You see each day we are either repairing or preparing. We are either repairing yesterdays mistakes or preparing for a better life ahead. If I can sit down with you for 1 day and just observe you I could predict your future to a certain extent. A guy decides to lose weight and gets fired up and joins the gym only to realise that he cannot keep skipping the gym to drink bears and expect his life to change. The secret to our success is determined by what we do today and if you dont make the most of today, then you are going to fail that college degree, you are going to screw up that relationship with your wife, you are going to end up sick and in the hospital. It all begins with making the most of today. Some people say someday I am going to do this and that but the last time I looked at a calendar I did not see someday. I saw Sunday and Monday but not Someday.

You see all you really have is today and my advice to you is make the most of today! Today Matters!!!!

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.
Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)

If A is success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut.
Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955), Observer, Jan. 15, 1950

Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value.

Success is the necessary misfortune of life, but it is only to the very unfortunate that it comes early.

Of course there is no formula for success except perhaps an unconditional acceptance of life and what it brings.

Arthur Rubinstein (1886 - 1982)

Find somebody to be successful for. Raise their hopes. Think of their needs.
Barack Obama (1961 - ), Arizona State Commencement Speech, 2009

I've come to embrace the notion that I haven't done enough in my life. I've come to confirm that one's title, even a title like president of the United States, says very little about how well one's life has been led. No matter how much you've done or how successful you've been, there's always more to do, always more to learn, and always more to achieve.
Barack Obama (1961 - ), Arizona State Commencement Speech, 2009

That's what building a body of work is all about. It's about the daily labor, the many individual acts, the choices large and small that add up over time, over a lifetime to a lasting legacy. It's about not being satisfied with the latest achievement, the latest gold star, because the one thing I know about a body of work is that it's never finished. It's cumulative. It deepens and expands with each day you give your best. You may have setbacks and you may have failures, but you're not done. You haven't even started.
Barack Obama (1961 - ), Arizona State Commencement Speech, 2009

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.
Bill Cosby (1937 - )

What's money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do. The person who makes a success of living is the one who see his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication. Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love. David McCullough (1933

Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life.
Dr. David M. Burns

Success is really about being ready for the good opportunities that come before you. It's not to have a detailed plan of everything that you're going to do. You can't plan innovation or inspiration, but you can be ready for it, and when you see it, you can jump on it.
Eric Schmidt, University of Pennsylvania Commencement Address, 2009

Now I understand what exhaustion is. Its not just a code word for heroin addiction. People dont teach you how to handle the workload that comes from a little bit of success, and its something Id never had to handle, because Id been rejected for so long.
Felicia Day, The Washington Post, 04-03-12

Success didn't spoil me, I've always been insufferable.

Gerald Nachman

To freely bloom - that is my definition of success.

Gerry Spence, How to Argue and Win Every Time

My mother drew a distinction between achievement and success. She said that 'achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others, and that's nice, too, but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.'
Helen Hayes (1900 - 1993)

Men are born to succeed, not fail.

Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)

Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.

I can't give you a sure-fire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: try to please everybody all the time.
Herbert Bayard Swope (1882 - 1958)

The toughest thing about success is that you've got to keep on being a success. Talent is only a starting point in this business. You've got to keep on working that talent. Someday I'll reach for it and it won't be there.
Irving Berlin (1888 - 1989), 1958

The secret of success is sincerity. Once you can fake that you've got it made.

If you have been touched by the success fairy, people think you know why. People think success breeds enlightenment and you are duty-bound to spread around like manure. Fertilize those young minds!
Meryl Streep (1949 - ), Barnard Commencement Speech, 2010

My success has depended wholly on putting things over on people, so I'm not sure that I'm that great a role model. I am, however, an expert on pretending to be an expert on pretending to be an expert.
Meryl Streep (1949 - ), Barnard Commencement Speech, 2010

You always pass failure on the way to success.

Mickey Rooney (1920 - )

Success isn't permanent, and failure isn't fatal.

Mike Ditka (1939 - )

Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture...Do not build up obstacles in your imagination.
Norman Vincent Peale (1898 - 1993)

How do I define success? Let me tell you, money's pretty nice. But having a lot of money does not automatically make you a successful person. What you want is money and meaning. You want your work to be meaningful, because meaning is what brings the real richness to your life.
