DISCUSSION NOTES

I INTRODUCTION:

OVERVIEW: Soul Therapy is a Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing

 One master said, “God and spirit are both within the human being; the problem is that they
haven’t met each other.” The spirit is overshadowed by the mind operating through the senses
of perception.

 The question is: what is God, what is spirit and what is man in relation to God and Spirit?
(REFER TO THE “SOUL IN COSMOGONY” ILLUSTRATION ON THE FOLLOWING PAGE)

 The spirit is the eternal, immortal part of our being --- a spark of divinity, the source of life and
healing in a human being. ("Espiritus" - breath). It is the real "man" who sages say is made in
the image of God.

 Soul is spirit encased in and knotted to a mind/body complex, which ancients say is a prison
house. Soul in the body/mind complex is like an inmate in prison. Some inmates have Iron
chains which keep them in poverty, ill health or obscurity. Others have Gold chains which
confer fame and fortune, health and wealth. But in either case, the inmate is still in prison. The
soul still feels bound and limited. It wants a pardon; it wants to be free to come and go as it
pleases. But the body/mind complex prevents this.

 The mind/body complex makes a good servant but a poor master. It is the spirit that should be
in charge, as it is the source of life for the body/mind. A Psycho-spiritual healing approach
strives to aid soul liberation by reestablishing the primacy of soul over mind and matter, by
loosening the knot of the soul to mind and aiding the soul in its effort to re-connect with its
creator.

 This was originally the true purpose of religion (re-ligere) to bind back the spirit to God; Soul
Therapy ™ aids the process of re-introducing the soul to God. To enable the soul to experience
relationship with God now, while the person is alive on earth. It helps you to get more in touch
with the immortal part of your being.

 As a so-called hu-man being part of you (hu or humus) is temporal, and part of you (man) is
eternal; not man as in male, but man as in “mana” – the “impersonal, supernatural force which
may be concentrated in objects or persons.” (American College Dictionary, 1961, Random
House, Inc.)

 You are an individual. Part of you is indivisible or eternal (indivi) and part of you is temporal
(dual).
Soul Therapy™ - a Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing Page 2

 As a person part of you (per) is temporal consisting of the vehicles through which manifests the
eternal part of your being (son as in sonar meaning sound or the Word or Holy Spirit)

 The Hu in human, the dual in individual or the per in person is synonymous with the psyche or
mind and body which are the material, finite or temporal part of your being subject to
dissolution; The psyche/mind or personality is made up of an astral/emotional body, and a
mental body with an ego.

 The soul, again, is the spirit imprisoned in a mind/body complex; Soul Therapy is the nursing/
curing of the soul, to free the spirit and reconnect it with its source. (Curing is making whole or
preserving).

 The soul needs curing because it is sick and imprisoned in the body/mind denied contact with
its creator at the source.

TARGET

 People who seek more time to devote to a balanced lifestyle, nurturing their spirits and
avoiding burnout.

 Students, Lay People and Professionals in the Helping Professions Who Wish To Devote More
Effort to Healing and Spiritual Fulfillment

 People who seek to find better ways to connect spiritually with their clients, students, and
peers, working out the complexes and emotions which sometimes impede productivity and
growth.

THESIS: Soul Therapy™ exposes how envy-denial of God breeds body/mind dis-ease.

 Denying and envying God is called "Theomania", a term coined by Brazilian psychotherapist
Norberto Keppe. --- http://www.trilogiaanalitica.com.br/ (use Alta Vista.com search engine with
translation capability from Portuguese to English).

 The person has delusions of grandeur and covets some kind of "Holy Ghost" power, as if they know
better than God does.

 According to Keppe, Envy, from the Latin root "invidere," means, "not to want to see".

 "To envy is not to want to see and to desire to destroy, therefore what is good, beautiful and true,
and to remove pleasure in its destruction." It is not wanting to see our good, which is of God, or
our error, which is of Mammon.

 From this point of view, all upset or disharmony of mind or body or "dis-ease" is rooted in
inconscientization --- the denial and envy of God.

 Soul Therapy is the antidote and prescription. (Keppe used a therapeutic process called "Analytical
trilogy" in which he combined Science, philosophy and religion. Soul Therapy uses tenets of
Trilogy, but more systematically goes into what is called "The science of the soul".)

ASSUMPTIONS: Life's upsets, challenges and dis-ease are worsened or caused by denial and envy of
God, whether or not you love or believe in God.

1. Disease is disharmony of mind and/or body that "disses" your ease; you're not permitted to idle
along in spiritual darkness.
Soul Therapy™ - a Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing Page 5

2. Disease is directly connected to inconscientization (which is denial of truth) which is denial and
envy of God

3. The symptoms of dis-ease --- physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually are designed to make
you pay attention to God.

4. When you pay attention to God the revelation of how you have been in denial opens the door to
spontaneous healing and spiritual fulfillment

DISCUSSION SUMMARY: Through A step-by-step Process Of inconscientization " Dis-ease" Is

Perpetuated, But Is Reversed When A Dialectical Process Of Conscientization Takes Place.

II COSMOGONY - THE DESCENT AND FALL OF MAN

 (Refer to the diagram: “SOUL THERAPY™ COSMOGONY - Man is the Microcosm of the
Macrocosm” on the following page.)

 To cure a human being’s illness at its roots one must understand cosmogony – the theory of the
origins of the Universe and how creation took place.

 Just like the TV comic Jerry Seinfeld and his sidekick George Castanza said, "it's about nothing".

III MAN IS THE MICROCOSM OF THE MACROCOSM

 The descent of man from Zero (no-thing) to the human form

 The ancients say, "as above, so below." Man is the microcosm of the macrocosm.

 The Macrocosm equals God, the positive power and evil – the Negative power (some call it Satan or
universal mind)

 From a spiritual point of view “evil” is that which limits you from experiencing your true self; good
is that which enables you to come more into the knowledge of your true self. The worst evil is
inconscientizing. The greatest good is conscientizing.
Soul Therapy™ - a Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing Page 6

 In the Microcosm mans Spirit is analogous to God, in terms of the essential qualities of immortality:
Omnipotence (all-powerful); Omniscience (all knowing); Omnipresent (Everywhere).

 Man’s ego (illusion of separateness), operating through the mind and senses of perception, is
analogous to Satan or Universal-Mind, in terms of the essential quality of Omnillusion. (Comes
from the Latin root meaning "the act of mocking or deceiving". The world of mind and matter is
illusionary in the sense that it is impermanent; it is only an image of the reality, spirit, which is
eternal. Because of the experience of pain and pleasure, the human being mistakes the world of
illusion to be "reality" and ignores the world of spirit, treating it as if it is fantasy.

IV SERVE GOD OR SERVE MAMMON

 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he
will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." --Mat 6:24 ;
So, what are the qualities of God and what are the characteristics of Mammon?

 God, the Positive Power and its offspring the spirit are immortal/eternal realities whose
essential nature is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.

 Mammon is defined by Webster's dictionary as “A personification of wealth as an evil god or

influence". It is akin to Satan or Universal Mind - the Negative Power.

 The counterpart of Mammon the human being is the ego/mind/body complex.

 Consciousness – or the awareness that “ I am” is a direct connection to spirit which is directly
connected to God. Denial of consciousness is a direct connection to Mammon - the Negative
Power.

 So, when you inconscientize --- block your consciousness or awareness --- you are blocking your
connection to spirit/ truth/ God and, by default, you are directly connected via the ego/mind
complex to the Negative Power and illusion.

 When you inconscientize you deny consciousness (or the truth of what is in your sphere of
awareness). This leads to: 1) identification with the limited part of your being; 2) inverted
thinking; 3) emotional upset; and 4) perpetuation of the physical symptoms of disease.
(Inversion is a Process through which “the person sees the good in that it is bad and the evil in
that it is good” --- http://www.trilogiaanalitica.com.br/ (use www.Alta Vista.com search engine
with translation capability from Portuguese to English).

 Sometimes it takes the symptoms of disease to make you pay attention. From this point of
view, THE DISEASE IS THE CURE! It is the organism's attempt to heal itself – to make you pay
attention, to make you aware, to make you conscientize, to make you see the light.

V. CONSCIENTIZATION, ENLIGHTENMENT & DIVINE REVELATIONS

Soul Therapy™ - a Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing Page 9

 To conscientize leads to Light or enlightenment which is nourishment for the soul

 Conscientizing is being conscious and truthful about the sensations, emotions, thoughts and
intuitions experienced in one's sphere of awareness. To thine own self (spirit) be true. (The
dangers of Mind Science).

 Being truthful about what you perceive, which is relative opens you to the revelation of
absolute truth. The light goes off inside you. Know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

 The "Truth is the Light". It is nourishment/therapy for the soul. In advanced Soul Therapy™ it is
the celestial Inner Light and sound experienced as divine revelations via the process of higher
forms of meditation, leading to liberation of the soul.

 It is the revelatory inner light and sound that cleanses and purifies the soul of the stains of
anger, ego, lust, greed and attachment which imprison it, keep it knotted to the mind/body and
which prevent it from re-uniting with God.

 Revelations of divine light and sound cure soul of its primary disease --- inconscientization and
untruthfulness or denial --- and confer knowledge of the Self as spirit.

 The cure for the soul is therefore gaining knowledge of self through conscientizing, truthfulness
and divine Revelations.

 The masters call this process, "Dying while living" or being "born again"; it is the process of
extricating the soul from the physical, astral and mental vehicles, traveling in consciousness or
spirit to the heavenly regions beyond and returning to earthly consciousness to fulfill your
worldly responsibilities. It pays to know a little about that journey to get the most out of Soul
Therapy which supports this effort but in and of itself doesn't take you there.

VI THE JOURNEY OF THE PURIFIED SOUL TO THE REALIZATION OF INNER SPACE (REFER TO
ROCKET SHIP DIAGRAM FOLLOWING THE NEXT PAGE)

 Soul Therapy helps prepare the seeker to take the journey to Self and God Realization, through
conscientizing. The Revelations and bliss you can experience with Soul therapy are only a taste
of honey of what you can experience in meditation under the guidance of an enlightened soul.
Soul Therapy™ - a Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing Page 10

 Under the guidance of an enlightened being you journey into inner space as a rocket journeys into
outer space.

 COUNTDOWN: Masters of meditation teach you how to close down the nine doors of the physical
body --- the two eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, genitals, and anus --- and focus attention at the 10th
door, the single eye, the seat of the soul, between and behind the eyebrows. They say, "… when
thine eye be single, thy whole body also is full of light."-Luke 11:34

 LIFT OFF: Conscientizing gives you a taste of what meditation brings in full measure, in preparation
for blast off. It brings:
• Bliss; • Revelations (insight) • clarity of thought • Calming down (emotionally) and
• A lighter feeling as if some of the burden has been lifted (sometimes leading to spontaneous
relief of physical symptoms.)
 You are now ready to take off as the mind is completely stilled and you come in contact with divine
revelations of light and sound that draw the soul up.
DROP ROCKET STAGES 1-2 (PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL BODIES): The purified soul is gradually drawn
upward in consciousness and leaves behind first the physical body, then the emotional/Astral body.

 DROP ROCKET STAGE 3 (MENTAL BODY): Self-realization comes when the soul leaves behind the
mental body and becomes conscious of itself as pure spirit unencumbered by the mind or body. It
is able to say, "I AM THAT I AM", pure spirit, made in the image of God.

 LANDING; LEAVE THE SATELLITE, RECONNOITER; RETRIEVE THE PRECIOUS STONES: God Realization
is when the self-realized spirit arrives at the highest of spiritual planes, reunites with God, has its
latent Godly powers awakened and becomes a conscious co-worker with God.

 RETURN TO SATELLITE AND TAKEOFF BACK TO EARTH: The God Realized spirit returns to its
spiritual vehicle and begins the journey back to earth consciousness. It lands possessing fully
awakened spiritual faculties and the ability to go to and fro the throne of God at will, as it devotes
its life to the work of the divine plan.

 All of this is possible through Meditation (under the guidance of a competent enlightened saint)
which is the highest form of Soul Therapy. The saints describe this process as the soul or "drop"
being taken by the "river" (the enlightened saint) back to the "ocean" (The Lord God Almighty).
Soul Therapy™ - a Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing Page 11

JOURNEY OF THE SOUL BACK TO GOD

1. Human being identifies with the mind/body (inconscientizes) so the spirit remains imprisoned (the rocket is grounded on
the launch pad).

2. Person realizes the value of conscientizing and, instead of wasting fuel via stress, riotous lifestyle, etc., begins to meditate
and focus at the single (3'd) eye center.

3. Person experiences divine light and the spirit begins to rise. (Rocket takes off).

4. Along the way the spirit leaves the physical body and travels through the astral realms (place where you go in the dream
state.) --- Rocket jettisons the first stage.

5. Spirit exits the astral plane up to the mental realms. Rocket jettisons the next stage.

6. Spirit exits the mental realms and experiences itself as pure spirit (self-realization); Satellite is in orbit by itself as last
stage of rocket jettisons.

7. Spirit rises through the higher spiritual realms until it unites with God and becomes God realized - a co-worker with God;
returns to earth with a new level of awareness and power; Satellite returns to earth chock full of data and information
gained on the journey.

THE MIND AND GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF SOUL THERAPY
A Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Healing
By Leonard Burg1
October 2008

It is fashionable today, especially in books like “The Secret”2, to extol the power of thought using
“The Law of Attraction” to manifest things in one’s life. It is summed up in popular sayings such as, “As
a man thinketh so is he….what a man can conceive he can achieve… you are what you think”, etc. But
there is much more to this “secret” than meets the eye. However learned you are, you can never hope
to have a complete technical understanding of the mind and its power to manifest (both good and evil)
without a deeper comprehension of the science of the soul. In the spirit of the true meaning of
education3, may the reader , like the great Greek philosopher/ mathematician Euclid, treat this booklet
and its tenets as a “Working Hypothesis” . Hopefully it ignites a spark of illumination.

OVERVIEW

Soul Therapy is a form of psycho-spiritual consultation that treats body/mind “dis-ease” at its roots
in consciousness. It promotes “curing” the spirit of body/mind ailments that afflict it. Soul Therapy
uproots the unique emotional, mental and spiritual patterns underlying particular physical symptoms. As
a result of Soul Therapy, stubborn and chronic body/mind dis-ease conditions more readily yield to
appropriate treatment modalities, or, in some cases, go into spontaneous remission.

“Dis-ease” is defined as any physical, emotional, mental or spiritual complex or set of conditions
(or conditioning) which affects one, causes pain, discomfort or upset, or which causes one to experience
dis-equilibrium of body, mind or spirit. From, the point of view of Soul Therapy the Dis-ease is the cure! It
is an attempt of the indwelling spirit to restore equilibrium (consciousness) and heal the organism by
eliminating morbific matter; thus making the organism more fit to fulfill its divine purpose. The aim of the
healer is to cooperate with this natural healing process.

Over the last 37 years "Len" Burg has worked professionally as an international spiritual activist, educator, and community
program director. Currently he is working actively as a co-founder of the USA branch of an international interfaith
organization working with the United Nations, and Student Success Administrator of the Office of Student Success at Pace
University, NYC campus.

3
To lead out of students that which is already within them (From the root of the word “educate” as found in the On Line
Etymology dictionary - http://www.etymonline.com/ - 1447, from L. educatus, pp. of educere "bring up, rear, educate,"
related to educere "bring out," from ex- "out" + ducere "to lead")
Unfortunately, many contemporary practitioners - including mainstream or pop psychologists, and
even conventional or holistic healers - do not significantly address the role of consciousness in dis-ease.
They gloss over the underlying psycho-spiritual factors that perpetuate dis-ease. Therefore, treating
clients becomes like mowing lawns. The dis-ease symptoms keep growing back.

Soul Therapy is a way of using one’s consciousness of perceptions, thoughts, words and deeds as
“medicine;” one re-impregnates oneself with ideas, thoughts, emotions and movements that act as
remedies for the conditions that lead one to seek a consultation. It is a method of divesting oneself of
ideas, thoughts, and emotions that perpetuate dis-ease, so that one may continue to evolve in
consciousness, and grow or develop spiritually.

Soul Therapy is not a prescription to suppress a specific dis-ease condition or set of symptoms.
Nor is it a substitute for proper medical care. Rather, it is designed to complement and work
synergistically with other appropriate treatment modalities. It is also effective in counteracting the
negative effects of inappropriately suppressive modalities, whether they are allopathic
(conventional/medical) or claim to be “natural/holistic.”

This monograph is for practitioners or lay people who are interested in self-healing and the
practical application of spiritual principles to advanced psychotherapeutic or counseling methods. You will
find that Soul Therapy is consistent with principles inherent in Analytical Trilogy4, Homeopathy, Chinese
medicine, Ayurvedics, Psychosomatic medicine, Psycho-neuro immunology, Neurolinguistic Programming,
mind science, prayer, positive thinking, meditation, Surat Shabd Yoga (the Science of the Soul), and
numerous other methods of body/mind healing. The ultimate divine purpose of all these disciplines is
hopefully the liberation of the soul and its unification with its creator.

It is the author’s fervent hope that Soul Therapy may contribute to the coming together and
cooperation of practitioners and students of all of the above disciplines for the benefit of humanity, in the
search for truth, planetary healing and the realization of God or the Higher Intelligence responsible for our
existence.

The Healing Power of Truthfulness

In both secular and religious thought the fundamental efficacy of being truthful has been invoked.
Said William Shakespeare (Hamlet) "This above all: to thine own self be true." Or the gospel of St. John
(Bible: John 8:31 – 32) "…know the truth and the truth shall set you free."

of science, philosophy and theology. In the individual this corresponds to the unification of feeling, thought and action that
results in full consciousness. http://www.analyticaltrilogy.org/glossary.html
The great Brazilian Psychotherapist Norberto Keppe uses truthfulness as a prime tool in his
therapeutic practice. He has said, “What attracts us most to a healthy person is the love of truth that he
manifests, and although we may not fully understand what it is, our intuition grasps it.”5 Keppe has done
a great deal of work analyzing the relationship between the collective psychology and political oppression
- the psycho-social pathology of people with power6.

In this vein, at the end of this monograph on Soul Therapy is an appendix discussing an
“Imperialistic Approach to Healing” – a positivistic and reductionistic way of thinking that contributes to
denial of the spiritual side of reality7 and to the denial of truth. Nevertheless it is spirit and consciousness
that connects man to a Higher Power that epitomizes and is synonymous with truth, however difficult it
may be for man to realize Its omniscience.

Like Dr. Keppe,. Soul Therapy enjoins the client to be honest at all times about what your are
sensing (physically), feeling (emotionally), thinking (intellectually), or intuiting (spontaneously). To
acknowledge (pay bare attention to) or be aware of (conscientize) what you perceive in the sphere of
awareness is proper and curative.

To conscientize does not mean you are feeding, identifying with, or indulging your perceptions.
Nor are you maintaining that your perception is necessarily "truth". You are simply being "in the
moment". Honestly conscientizing perceptions, opens you up to the revelation of absolute truth. And, it
is the truth that "sets you free" (heals you and brings higher consciousness).

The Dangers of Denial and Suppression

In the name of mind science, many people are making themselves sick by denying and suppressing
the truth of what they are actually sensing, feeling, thinking, or intuiting. As if being honest about one's
perceptions, especially the "negative" ones (pain, anger, etc.) is harmful.

It is not conscientizing negative perceptions that begets negative conditions. It is INDULGING,

IDENTIFYING WITH OR SUPPRESSING THEM THAT MAKES YOU SICK. It is the habitual denial or
suppression of the truth of what you are actually sensing, feeling, thinking, or intuiting inside that actually
causes "dis-ease". Far from freeing you from the bondage of negative perceptions, denial
(inconscientization) ATTACHES you to the very ideas, thoughts, feelings and sensations that you are
suppressing!

Positivism is the theory that theology and metaphysics are imperfect modes of knowledge in comparison to knowledge
based on the empirical sciences. Reductionism theorizes that simple physical laws may explain all biological processes.
Inconscientization AND/OR indulgence is what attracts or perpetuates physical symptoms that you
experience as dis-ease. The dis-ease is a perfect out-picturing or reflection of suppressed (or indulged)
perceptions (some of which may be built into the genetic or hereditary blueprint you entered the world
with). In fact, suppressing perceptions is a way of indulging, strengthening, or attaching oneSELF (soul
energy) to one's impressions.

On the other hand, when you conscientize (honestly acknowledge the truth of) what you are
intuiting, thinking, feeling or sensing --- without identifying with or dwelling on the perception --- it helps
release you from attachment that leads to dis-ease.

The release of attachment to perceptions is a release of blocked soul energy. It tends to

undermine or pull the rug from under the dis-ease condition, thus igniting cure. Thereby, the soul energy
may be redirected to ideas, thoughts, feelings and sensations in a way that is in harmony with one's quest
for self –actualization or God Realization.

Positive Thinking

Positive thinking is NOT the act of suppressing or denying negative thoughts. Denying the truth of
what you really perceive is actually NEGATIVE thinking. It is just as dangerous as openly indulging negative
thoughts.

On the other hand, it is NOT dangerous to conscientize thoughts or feelings that happen to be
painful or "negative". In fact, it is healing to truthfully acknowledge or pay what some Buddhists call "bare
attention" to so-called negative thoughts. Thereby, you don't not allow them to secretly undermine your
energy, and you allow them to gently be released.

IT IS ONLY WHEN YOU AUTOMATICALLY OR INSISCRIMINATELY IDENTIFY WITH ANY THOUGHT OR

PERCEPTION THAT IT BECOMES 'NEGATIVE".

Positive Thinking and the Verb "to be"

One of the keys to positive thinking is the use of the verb "to be". Learn to strictly monitor what
you think, feel or say, "I am". Because, what you insist "I am" is what you become --- what you manifest in
your life. What you habitually, automatically, "unconsciously' keep saying, "I am", through indiscriminate
use of the verb "to be", is the seed you are sowing that is bearing (or perpetuating) the fruit or conditions
you are experiencing.
In most cases you should substitute verbs such as "intuit", "thing", or "feel" when speaking or
perceiving (especially when you are describing another person). Instead of saying, "I am sick", say, "I feel
sick". Instead of saying, "You are bad", say, "You should behave better", etc. What you identify others as
being, by thinking and speaking of them using the verb 'to be', is what you help cause them to be.
Thereby, you share their "karma". And, if they are strong enough to repel such thoughts, the words
boomerang back to you tenfold.

In the long run, the only things worth saying "I am" or "you are" are those ideas and feelings that
when out-pictured result in the achievement of your highest ideals. For many people, the highest ideal is
the unlimited, eternal state of Self and God Realization, the knowledge and realization of Self as pure
spirit. This is the ultimate possession you have --- your spiritual nature.

Negative Thinking and Possessive Speech

Conscientizing and right use of the verb "to be" is a way of using language that enables you to be
truthful without identifying with or creating negative states or conditions. Another such technique is the
proper use of possessive pronouns.

The constant wrong use of the possessive pronouns "my", "your", "his", "hers", "ours", etc. is
another way of thinking negatively, thereby perpetuating dis-ease conditions. Instead of saying, "my"
headache, say, "the" headache. Instead of saying, "your" stinginess, say "the" stinginess.

Proper use of possessive pronouns, like conscientizing and right use of the verb "to be" is a way of
separating the essence of a person from their behavior or material condition. Why identify them with a
negative, limited condition? Why not refer to people and self in a way that is truthful but that also
acknowledges that our true identify is divine?

Right Use of Mind and Meditation

Healing and higher realization is enhanced by proper use of the mind. The mind is a good servant
but a poor master. When the mind is in charge, so too is the ego, opening you up to negative influences.
When you conscientize the spirit is in charge opening you up to positive influences. Negative influences
are those that limit you to the material, temporal dimension. Positive influences are those that open you
up to the experience of higher states of consciousness and ultimately God Realization.

The most powerful right use of mind comes with the practice of meditation, especially under the
guidance of an enlightened one, thus establishing the primacy of soul over mind. At its highest levels,
meditation takes one's consciousness and spirit above and beyond the regions of mind to the eternal
regions of God. It enables one to contact the Holy Spirit of Word of God, which is what transports the soul
consciousness to the higher spiritual regions.
Soul Therapy is a modality which helps to prepare you for higher stages of meditation which is the
highest form of therapy for the soul. For, as "therapy" is "to nurse or cure", the cure for the soul is to
consciously re-unite with its maker in the higher spiritual regions where God or the Higher Intelligence
awaits you.

APPENDIX: The Imperialistic Approach To Healing

The Imperialistic Approach To Healing

To Imperialistically “heal” is to be content with an undo focus on aborting or suppressing

symptoms by the use of drugs and other such modalities. It is killing germs as if they are the “enemy"
or treating malfunctioning body parts as if they are superfluous. It is like taking a legitimate emergency
room operation and making it a vehicle of primary care, something it is not meant to be. This approach
does not cure the patient, because it does not address the root causes of illness in consciousness, nor
does it sufficiently address the patient’s responsibility in healing and disease.

The germ theory of disease and the tendency to view drugs and surgery as a first resort rather
than a last resort is part and parcel of a left-side-of-the brain oriented approach to reality. It is the
approach that speaks of “the war on cancer”, or “beating the disease”, instead of realizing that the
disease is the cure, and should be managed in such a way as to cooperate with what the body is trying
to do. This mindset is in complete contradiction to the teachings of the father of western medicine,
Hippocrates, who advocated “food” as the medicine of first resort, saying let "food be your medicine
and let medicine be your food.”

The imperialistic approach to healing is a signature of western world national and political
orientation based on the core theories of “positivism” and “reductionism”. Positivism is the theory
that theology and metaphysics are imperfect modes of knowledge in comparison to knowledge based
on the empirical sciences. Reductionism theorizes that simple physical laws may explain all biological
processes.

Positivism and reductionism are left brain dominant orientations, which overemphasize verbal,
“intellectual”, linear or segregative thinking, and negate the validity of right brain, intuitive ways of
seeing the world. They reduce everything to something you can see, touch, measure or control (using
the mind operating through the senses of perception). Whatever cannot be understood or
manipulated is the enemy to be conquered, repressed, feared, dominated, controlled and, in some
cases, enslaved. Often whole races of people are viewed as being alien to the left brain orientation
and are therefore expendable.
It can also be legitimately said that there is a counter school of thinking that deifies right brain,
feeling, and emotional, instinctive ways of behaving at the expense of left brain awareness. These two
schools of thinking are akin to the two brain hemispheres, the “developed” versus “Third World”
cultures of the world, and the “modern” or conventional versus the “traditional”. The conventional
often ignores the traditional (customary ways of being) and the traditional often perpetuates customs
and mores that are no longer useful.

The solution is a whole brain approach using the left, right and frontal parts of the brain. This
places a focus on the primacy of cause versus effect and direct first hand inner experience as a guide to
external, material experience. It refuses to masquerade left brain intellectualism as “science” or right
brain psychism as “mysticism”. It integrates use of the left and right hemispheres in concert with the
forebrain.

Usually, anyone who espouses the whole brain approach is liable to offend both the
conventional and the traditional. In addition, many left or right brain dominant people are
masquerading as “holistic”, “alternative”, “complementary”, etc. when in reality they are completely
devoid of a real spiritual understanding or orientation.

A true spiritual understanding realizes that there is a real causal world beyond the senses and
the mind that can be accessed to bring about and understand effects in the material world. There is a
science of technology of how to do this, which even the pseudo religious, holistic, and spiritual
charlatans are not aware of. Literally one must “lose one’s mind” to be successful. That is, one must
understand that beyond the finite, temporal, mortal level of being is an infinite, eternal, immortal
realm of being that we as “the crowns of creation” can have access to. However, to do so requires
transcending the ego “I” which thinks it is a supreme creator God.
