Hello ! My name is Maddy Naderali and Im a first year studying Law with French.

I identify as pansexual and non-binary gender. I am also a disabled student and both an ethnic and religious minority. I would like to run for the position of non-binary Co-Chair. I believe I have a lot to offer next years committee and the members of the LGBTQ Association should I be elected to the role of co-chair. I have a number of ideas for the next academic year which are as follows :
Partaying

Socials

Try to arrange drinks deals in gay bars/clubs and gay friendly bars/clubs for our members so that everyone can afford to enjoy themselves at bar crawls ! And again

Welfare Work with the Welfare Officer in order to continue holding regular welfare workshops on issues such as mental health, sexual health, and coming out. I am particularly interested in holding workshops on asexuality and nonbinary/queer gender identity too to increase awareness of such minorities. Hold discussion groups for members who are religious and/or spiritual to talk about their experiences with reconciling their sexuality/gender identity and their faith. Continue volunteering with TRADE sexual health clinic and hopefully extend this to working more closely with the LGBT centre and other organisations such as Leicestershire Aids Support Service. Make sure feedback surveys reach as many people as possible so we know what were doing right and what could be improved. I introduced the idea of bringing printed surveys to LGBTea as most people otherwise were not doing them online. Online polls and possibly also the introduction of a feedback box in the common

room (or a virtual version online) where people can inform us anonymously of any concerns/queeries they have or things they would like us to do/improve on.

Campaigns/Community Involvement Encourage more members to volunteer at events run by the LGBTQA, for example by contributing to literature or manning stalls. This will allow more members to become better involved in campaigns. Publicise committee meetings and encourage members to attend. This will enable a larger range of views to be heard during meetings. Run more LGBTQ forums with sabbatical officers to get our voices heard. Push the Union to introduce an LGBTQ officer and work closely with them on larger-scale events and union-wide campaigns including being involved with the Unions zerotolerance policy. Introduce debates on relevant contemporary issues for the politically-minded amongst us so there is a safe space for discussion rather than Facebook arguments that often spiral out of control. Work with the Union to avoid election fiascos like the NUS conference one this year.

Apart from my many ideas for next years committee, I have a wealth of experience that I think will benefit me in the role as cochair : General Member on the LGBTQA Committee (December 2012-present). I have been active attending weekly committee meetings, helping out on campaign stalls, attending socials, distributing surveys, washing up after LGBTea etc. Part-time work : I have worked as volunteer for the Penny Lane Development Trust and also as an assistant in an ice cream parlour, both in my home city of Liverpool. The former involved stewarding, selling merchandise, collecting feedback etc at large social enterprise events. In year 13 I ran the Sixth-Forms Law Society which involved organising weekly meetings, preparing topics to debate, chairing debate and organising the Law Ball at the end of the year.

Vote Maddy for Non-Binary Co-Chair !! Email me on MN157@student.le.ac.uk for more details and be sure to attend the first AGM and ask me any questions !
