Pastor Fisher Celebrates 11 Years at NTBC

The New Testament Baptist Church installed Dr. Steve Fisher as their third pastor on June 9, 2002 with a unanimous vote. Pastor Fisher would become only the third pastor in the history of the church. R.L. Throne initially pastored the church for 32 years. Those first 32 years were exciting years for the church. In June of 1975, K.L. McDeavitt was called as pastor. Pastor McDeavitt served as pastor of the church for 27 years before retiring. The New Testament Baptist Church was organized as the Fundamental Baptist Church on Sunday, March 21, 1943 with 34 charter members in a rented store building on South Main Street. The church would eventually purchase property at 405 West Jefferson Street in Butler. After renovating the three-story house and tearing out partitions, the church had an attractive chapel, which could seat about 120 people. The church continued to meet in the chapel while beginning construction to make improvements and additions. The building was completed in 1958, and was renamed the Butler Baptist Temple. During Bro. McDeavitts tenure as pastor, the church bought property on North Duffy Road in Center Township. The first service was held in the new church facilities on North Duffy Road in May of 1995. Besides the relocation project, the church was renamed as the New Testament Baptist Church. While the church has a glorious history of proclaiming the Gospel here and abroad, the future could not be any brighter. We anticipate God lengthening our cords and strengthening our stakes as we build on the foundation that has been sacrificially laid over these many years.

Our Dilemma: We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23 Our Inability: We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 Our Saviour: Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived sinlessly, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Our Response: Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as Gods children. Whisper a sincere prayer and invite Christ to save you. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
