THE ORGANISER
Junior Chamber International Malaysia The Junior Chamber movement was introduced to Malaysia (then the Federation of Malaysia) in 1954. Junior Chamber in Sarawak and Junior Chamber in Sabah were affiliated to Junior Chamber International in 1956 and in 1963 respectively. Junior Chamber Peninsular Malaysia, Junior Chamber Sarawak and Junior Chamber Sabah were then identified as three different National Organizations (NOMs) directly affiliated to Junior Chamber International. On 11th October 1975, Junior Chamber Malaysia was formed with the signing of a Merge Agreement between the three separate national organizations in Kuala Lumpur. A Protem Board of Directors under the chairmanship of JCI Senator V T Nathan, Past President of Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber was founded. This Protem Board was appointed to look into the registration of the new organization to be known as Junior Chamber Malaysia. In 1976 Junior Chamber Malaysia obtained temporary registration from the Registrar of Societies to operate. The 1st National Convention was held in 1976 itself in Kuala Lumpur. At this National Convention, JCI Senator George Chang was elected the First National President. Some of the very famous JCI Alumni are Kofi Annan (UN Sec. ethical principles, face various obstacles, accept criticism and improve ourselves including the world around us. JCI Petaling Jaya has always initiate business visits to local corporations, to create opportunities for members to learn and seek guidance from successful entrepreneurs. This has always been one of our usual learning approaches. However, starting year 2010 and under the leadership of JCI Petaling Jaya 2010 President, JC Kenneth Fong; to commemorate our late founder and to learn his way of success, we decided to officially incorporate the principle of COURAGE as the way of JCI Petaling Jaya. Courage is the ability to face difficulty, danger, uncertainty, or pain without being conquered by fear. Courage is about setting aside your fear and taking action for the good of yourself or someone else. Courage is a way of life. Its a matter of routine more than anything else. With courage in our members, there will be greater willingness to achieve improvements. Therefore, other than hosting JCI CYEA, we took a step further by incorporating new activities to this year plan, placing top priority with regards to the network expansion and learning needs of our young members. Enabling our projects to benefit the world is our prime objective. We also aim to be the leading chapter of JCI Malaysia through the inception of COURAGE as a way of JCI Petaling Jaya.
