3.Assessment and Diagnosis A)Assessment

B) Diagnostic Impression -Data collected during the assessment phase must be synthesized, categorized and analyzed in order to formulate an accurate diagnostic impression. -Diagnosis as it relates to psychological consultation entails the identification or classification of consultation problems and their probable causes. -Diagnostic impressions of specific problems, achieved through the collective actions of consultants and consultees, yield prescriptive ideas of the types of interventions needed to correct existing problems. -The primary objective of assessment and diagnostic activities is an accurate conceptualization of consultation problrm. These activities establish the purpose and direction of consultation. -Assessment and diagnosis should lead to a succinct PROBLEM STATEMENT : a description of consultation issues, needs or difficulties 4.Goal Setting Principles of goal setting: A) consultants must recognize that goal setting is a collaborative process that involves consultees and other key participants.
