AmericasAbusiveAuthority The atomic bomb was a new breakthrough in science and should not have been used for

war purposes but rather technological advancement such as, new cheaper ways of electricity. When responsibility is needed the military abuses it, and the citizens have no say in the matter. Thus explaining why the reasons the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were illogical. It is irrational to drop the two bombs because Japan had a Dictator that did not give voting rights to its citizens. America retaliated impulsively, because of events at Pearl Harbor, as if the Japanese attacked civilians, not military trained hostile enemies. On top of that the Japanese citizens did not need to suffer severe effects of atomic bomb since they had no involvement in the war, nor had any decision whether attacking America or not. Despite taking revenge against Japanese who are considered savages for attacking Pearl Harbor without any warning, America should be considered more of a savage for attacking in retaliation on innocent civilians, socially and physically.Furthermore, America could still have won the war even without the two atomic bombs due its technological & military advancements. When a dictatorship is established, citizens of that country have no voting power on the military actions their government commit. It was all Hirohitos actions that caused the execution for the attack Pearl Harbor to commence. In a passage, on History.com, Hirohitos decision was the final decision in every military measure, Hirohito, who as emperor was the nations highest spiritual authority and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, essentially fired the prime minister in 1929. The next prime minister was shot and mortally wounded, and in 1932 yet another prime minister was assassinated by naval officers upset about a treaty limiting the number of Japanese warships. From then on, almost all prime ministers came from the military

("Hirohito." History.com). Further on in time, right before the events of WWII, Hirohito, consented to the decision of his government to battle the Americans ("Hirohito." History.com). Not only did Hirohito have complete power in his rule on the citizens, but had final consultation in military declarations because he was the commander-in-chief. If he wanted to attack an empire or country, it would have happened. Unfortunately, he wanted to attack America on his own hubris because if he didnt want to attack America then of course he wouldnt give permission (consent) to attackPearl Harbor. The political parties that did try to get involved in any war Hirohito commanded would have been fired upon literary and figuratively. Hirohito a ruthless leader had the power, not the citizens the victims of this ordeal. Nonetheless, Hirohito was still human; he only attacked America because America cut off Japans oil supply from America. Based on that, why would Hirohito continue to be or act friendly with the United States? Ironic how Hirohito was the one who decided whether to attack Pearl Harbor or not, and then Japanese civilians were the ones who took responsibility. The Japanese people were the ones bombarded with two atomic bombs 3 days apart, not Hirohito, and the worst part were the harsh after effects of the two atomic bombs. Even though perceived to be savages by the Americans, the Japanese are still human beings with women, children, crippled, and the elderly suffering day to day life. Then came the atomic bomb which ruinedtheir way of life. The atomic bomb came to the Japanese as a surprise on a usual day of school students going to school, construction workers going to construct structures. Many died but the, Survivors in the two cities stated that people who were in the open directly under the explosion of the bomb were so severely burned that the skin was charred dark brown or black and that they died within a few

Omar Vazquez Period 3 1-31-13

minutes or hours.Among the survivors, the burned areas of the skin showed evidence of burns almost immediately after the explosion. At first there was marked redness, and other evidence of thermal burns appeared within the next few minutes or hours (HyperWar). How are human beings treated as savages when the Japanese are like everyone else in perspective of ordinary life? No one would even dare to wish these tragedies upon their neighbor, and Japanese could be a potential neighbor who would commute every day to the same school. The sheer imagery of watching a beloved burnt to crisp would even shed a tear on a masculine grown man with a reputation of never crying. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. In this case it is true because America impulsively went to drastic measures to counter attack Japan without mercy. As stated before the Japanese civilians were the ones who took responsibility for Hirohitos heinous decision, yet America did not think that. Propaganda showed the ugly discrimination America gave to the Japanese, calling them Japs , Unlike propaganda items made for the European axis members, which focused primarily on Hitler and Mussolini rather than the citizens of Germany and Italy, the anti-Japanese propaganda was an assault on the people of Japan (Arian). Not just Propaganda but also dropping two bombs on innocent civilians, in retaliation for Japan attacking a military base that is capable for hostility against Japan. In comparison America took a more savage measure because America bombed 199,000 docile civilians (The Atomic Bombings) while Japan only killed 2402 (Welcome) soldiers trained for any emergency. Not only did America kill more, America killed the innocent. Thats not all, back on the home front America discriminated against the Japanese with awful images of propaganda viewing the civilians of Japan as cruel animals with teeth. America desensitized Japan just to feel superior enough to

Omar Vazquez Period 3 1-31-13

attack other human beings to justify their atomic bomb killing 199,000 civilians. Despite America wanting to even the score with Japan for the all the lives lost on the day of the Pearl Harbor bombing, America went overboard and slaughtered more than their fair share of kills. America during World War II was at all time high in terms of military and navy power, so of course they will be able to defeat the Japanese fleet. On the American homefront, everyone was creating weapons for the American troops out in the pacific theatre, weapons such flamethrowers, bouncing Betties, amphibious tanks, artillery, huge shells for the ships guns, etc. all useful for different occasions. Eventually the Japanese navy, Was essentially defeated and that we could win the war in another six months (Szilard Document 5). Since Japanese was estimated to be defeated in 6 months, America would then not need to worry about defeat, yet America still has the nerve to save a few months of war to save their citizens, not the innocent Japanese citizens under dictatorship. No matter what, lives are going to die but at least a government can do it lessen the number of casualties, and if America would have continued fighting the Japanese navy within those 6 months the number of casualties would severely be miniscule compared to the deaths the two atomic bombs dealt. Save more human lives not just American lives. Think of humanity as a whole and not as a nation, or International agreement will fail. America had no authority abusing technological advancement in science for a military advantage against the Hirohito to take revenge for Pearl Harbor; in reality, America increased the number of humane casualties, discriminated against innocent Japanese civilians, went against their own constitution that states everyone is innocent until proven guilty, did not take into the account of the after effects of the disastrous aftermath of the two atomic bombs. Appeasing the

United States for their crimes using a precious scientific breakthrough on military means leaves a bad taste for future generations. America was Abusive, and did not uphold their Authority of Democracy.
