In the Philippines, the growing numbers of solo parents who find it difficult to cope with the effects of solo parenting, Statistics reveal that as of 1995 census, there is total of 1,579,322 solo parents where 1,099,402 are female.

Statement of the Problem This study aimed to determine the extent of governments support for solo parents in Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City. Specifically, it seeks answer to the following questions: 1. What is the extent of governments s support for solo parents as a whole and when they are grouped according to a.)age b).sex c.) educational attainment

2. Is there a significant difference in the extent of the governments support for solo parent when they grouped according to: a )age b.) sex. c). educational attainment

Hypothesis There is significant difference in the extent of the governments support for solo parents when they are grouped according to: a) age, b.)sex, c.)educational attainment

Theoretical Background This study is anchored on Republic Act No. 8972 otherwise known as Solo Parents Welfare act of 2000 the R.A. No. 8972 provides benefits and privileges to solo parents and their children, appropriating finds therefor and for other purposes. On the other hand, Republic Act. 8972 promote the family as the foundation of the nation, strengthen its solidarity and ensure its total development. It is an act providing benefits and privileges to solo parent and their children, appropriating funds there for and for other purposes or the Solo Parents Welfare Act 2000 declares that is the policy of the State to promote the family as the foundation of the nation, strengthen its solidarity and ensure its total development. Psychosocial services for the Solo Parents is a series of intervention geared towards the enhancement of their coping capability through the resolution of multiple problems that go that being a solo parent such as economic pressures to social acceptability, performance of the parental responsibilities need for resources and support services. The ultimate objective of the service is the development of coping mechanism of solo parent so they may be effectively and responsibly fulfil their roles in their families and communities.

Significance of the study This study is beneficial to the following:

Solo parent a woman who gives birth as a result of rape and others crimes against chastity even without a final conviction of the offender, provided, that the mother keeps and raises the child.

Social Workers- The results of this study may support them to expand their knowledge about governments support for solo parents. Parents- The study will help them to widen their knowledge and understanding on the effects of governments support for solo parents. Future researchers- The future researchers may be encourage to conduct more research about governments support for solo parents. DSWD the results of this study may provide insights to department of social welfare development. Chapter 2 This chapter discusses the research design to be used in this study, the participants, the measures, the procedures and the data analysis. Research Design This study utilizes the descriptive- correlational research design particularly using the survey method. According to ( David,2002) a descriptive- correlational research is one that describes an existing condition or situation at the present time. Since the study inquired about the extent of solo parent with the law which is present condition/ situation, the researchers of this study believed that the descriptive correlational design is appropriate to use.

Population and Sampling The respondents of this study are the solo parent in Brgy. Cabug Bacolod City. These are solo parent living in Brgy. Hagimit, La Carlota City. A purposive sampling will used to determine the sample size. Measures

This study uses a researcher- made questionnaire. The questionnaire comprises 2 parts. Part 1 includes the demographic variables of the respondents. Part 2 is the questionnaire proper. The questionnaire consists of a 20 item test reflecting the extent of solo parent. Validity of the Questionnaire Validity refers to the ability of the test to measure what it intends to measure.(Sevilla,et al,2007) to establish the validity of the questionnaire, the researchers are going to represent it to three jurors are going to make corrections and give suggestions to improve the questionnaire. Likewise, the jurors are going to use the Good and Skates Jury Validation Form rate the questionnaire. The Validity rating is ___ which means that a survey questionnaire has ___ validity index.

Reliability of the questionnaire Reliability refers to the consistency of scores that an individual obtains in a given test. (shuaghnessy,2007) to establish the reliability of the questionnaire, the researchers are going to conduct a dry-run to 15 solo parent . After the administration of the test, the questionnaire will be retrieved, categorized and treated using the ______________ formula. Procedure To gather data for this study, the researchers are going to send a letter to the Brgy. captain asking permission that the study on The extent of solo parent in Brgy.Cabug, Bacolod City will be conducted. After the approval we sought the researchers are going to administer to test to the chosen participants. It must be noted that the consent of the participants will be sought before they are made to answer the questionnaire.

Data Analysis The following statistical tools will be used to treat the following problems: Problem 1 which seeks to determine the extent of what is the extent of solo parent as a whole and when they are grouped according to age, sex, educational attainment and monthly family income the mean is used. The mean is the most dependable measure of central tendency (Sevilla et. Al., 2007).

Problem 2 which seeks to determine the significant difference in the extent of solo parent when they grouped according to age, sex ,educational attainment and monthly family income the t-test of the independent mean and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) will be used.
