Neighborhood Bully By Bob Dylan, 1983 (on Infidels album) Well, the neighborhood bully, hes just one

man His enemies say hes on their land. They got him outnumbered about a million to one, He got no place to escape to, no place to run. Hes the neighborhood bully. The neighborhood bully just lives to survive, Hes criticized and condemned for being alive. Hes not supposed to fight back, hes supposed to have thick skin, Hes supposed to lay down and die when his door gets kicked in. Hes the neighborhood bully. The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land, Hes wandered the earth an exiled man, Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn, Hes always on trial for just being born. Hes the neighborhood bully. Well, he knocked out a lynch mob, he was criticized, Old women condemned him, said he should apologize. Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad. The bombs were meant for him. He was supposed to feel bad. Hes the neighborhood bully. Well the chances are against it and the odds are slim That hell live by the rules that the world makes for him, Cause theres a noose at his neck and a gun at his back And a license to kill him is given to every maniac. Hes the neighborhood bully. He got no allies to really speak of, What he gets he must pay for, he dont get it out of love. He buys obsolete weapons and he wont be denied But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side. Hes the neighborhood bully. Well, hes surrounded by pacifists who all want peace, They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease. Now, they wouldnt hurt a fly. To hurt one they would weep. They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep. Hes the neighborhood bully. Every empire thats enslaved him is gone, Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon. Hes made a garden of paradise in the desert sand, In bed with nobody, under noones command. Hes the neighborhood bully. Now his holiest of books have been trampled upon, No contract he signed was worth what it was written on. He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth, Took disease and sickness and he turned it into health. Hes the neighborhood bully. Whats anybody indebted to him for? Nothin they say. He just likes to cause war.

Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed, They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed. Hes the neighborhood bully. What has he done to wear so many scars? Does he change the course of rivers? Does he pollute the moon and stars? Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill, Running out the clock, time standing still, Neighborhood bully. Zionism is merely the dream of the Jewish nation to return and live in its land. .. When people condemn Zionists, they mean Jews..." This last point was once made by Martin Lut her King, who wrote, "...You declare, my friend, that you do not hate the Jews, you are merely anti-Zionist. And I say, let the truth ring forth from the high mountain tops, let it echo through the valleys of Gods green earth: When people criticize Zionism, they mean Jews - this is Gods own truth... All men of good will exult in the fulfillment of Gods promise, that his People should return in joy to rebuild their plundered land. This is Zionism, nothing more, nothing less... And what is anti-Zionist? It is the denial to the Jewish people of a fundamental right that we justly claim for the people of Afri ca and freely accord all other nations of the Globe. It is discrimination against Jews, my friend, because they are Jews. In short, it is a nti-Semitism... Let my words echo in the depths of your soul: When people criticize Zionism, they mean Jews - make no mistake about it." -- from "This I Believe: Selections from the Writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." (New York, 1971), pp. 234-235. "Imagine having a president whose life work was your work." It was September 200 7, and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was challenging members of the Service Employe es International Union (SEIU) to dream the dream of owning a president -- him. Obama, who was seeking the unions endorsement in the upcoming presidential prim aries, reminded his enthusiastic crowd that the SEIU had supported him in the pa st: "All these folks sitting here, right here, they walked doors for me, they ma de phone calls for me, they turned out the vote for me!" Months after Obamas speech, the SEIU threw $60 million and 100,000 volunteers b ehind Obamas election effort. The AFL-CIO nearly matched that, with $53.4 milli on in election spending -- enough to help put their debt-heavy union into a mino r financial crisis. .we need to get the Judicial Branch to do its job. Serial cr iminal offenses and crimes; multiple breaches of our Constitution. Its time for implementation of the "checks and balances," which our constitutional republic demands!! Doc Mr Obama they did not need Zagat speech, the needed to reminded th at what Egypt was before the nazi born Muslim brotherhood destroyed the country. Correct: alBanna and Husseini both collaboraated and were financed by the Nazis . Fully documented. Today, organized labor owns the executive branch of the Unit ed States government. All of its appointees are sympathetic to unions, and some are shameless cheerleaders -- especially Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, whose cont ribution to the dispute in Wisconsin was to join the picket line and start shout ing. "The fight is on," she said in a recent speech. "We work together. We help those embattled states right now where public employees are under assault." And the union bosses have all the access they could possibly want. Former SEIU P resident Andy Stern, before leaving his job last year, visited the Obama White H ouse nearly 60 times in less than two years. Richard Trumka, head of the AFL-CIO since September 2009, visited the White House 47 times in just over a year, mee

ting with Obama 17 times and with Vice President Joe Biden three times. He boast s that he speaks to White House officials "every day" -- even on weekends. Given recent revelations of how badly Obama has ignored his own appointees, Trum ka appears to have more contact and possibly more influence with Obama than most of the presidents cabinet secretaries. In a heated moment on the campaign trai l last year, President Obama declared, "Were gonna punish our enemies, and wer e gonna reward our friends who stand with us." This comment was intended as an e xhortation for voters, but it is actually an accurate statement of administratio n policy. It is also a fundamental principle of "gangster government," which ben ds and breaks laws to achieve its policy goals, rejects or stretches limits on i ts own power, and subordinates the public interest to favored special interests. Gangster government has reared its ugly head in many areas during Obamas first term. ... But no special interest is nearer to President Obamas heart than orga nized labor, and when we talk about "friends" whom Obama helps, we are talking p rimarily about labor unions. Obama isnt even slightly ashamed of his transactio nal relationship with unions. Here is how he describes it in "The Audacity of Ho pe" (his second memoir) after noting all the help the unions had given him in th e course of his political career up to that point: "So I owe those unions. When their leaders call, I do my best to call them back right away. I dont consider this corrupting in any way." ... In September 2007, then-presidential candidate Obama rallied the troops at the SEIU Political Action Conference. He offered SEI U members the dream of owning a president. The average American cannot expect to have the Treasury Department rig his bankr uptcy, the Labor Department rig his election process, or federal procurement off icers rig a bidding process in his favor. Labor unions can count on Obama for al l of these things, and hed deliver them even more special favors if he could. H e is using the White House in every conceivable way to pay back a special intere st that spent $400 million to elect Democrats in 2008 but whose fortunes are wan ing and whose relevance to the average worker has not been lower in decades. Oba ma isnt about to let the unions go down without all the help that he can force taxpayers to muster. You might think that when the Obama administration bails out banks with one hand and then shatters lenders confidence with a special favor for the UAW on the o ther, the two acts simply cancel each other out. You might think the same when h e attempts to stimulate the economy, but then creates few jobs because the money is being wasted on overpriced union contracts. But these acts do not, in fact, net out to zero. Rather, each separate act incre ases the Obama administrations power over business, health care, the economy an d peoples lives generally. Each act expands his power and helps him choose winn ers and losers, directing rewards to the politically favored and punishments to those who stand in his way. And thats the whole point of gangster government. Dear Dr. Mian, I hope you are well and your practice is thriving. You deserve that and have wor ked so hard to achieve such a good result. It was my intention to simply thank you for your 10 years of fine care for me, a s I appreciate you and your committment to me, especially after the horrific eve nt on June 1, 2001, when I witnessed and was lightly injured in the "Dolphinariu m" bombing in Tel Aviv (22 dead; perpetrated by Hamas). We met a few months afte r that terror. Under your care, my health and mental status gradually improved, as you knew the nature of PTSD and were thorough in your medical evalauation and treatment. In

2003, when I worked at an International Learning Disabilities conference and as a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist (doing IQ, Personality, Assessment of Brain Damage , and Cognitive Testing), I was tested myself and the results confirmed an ADHD, Inattentive Type, as well as PTSD, with anxiety and panic disorder features. Your care and treatment after this new diagnosis was excellent. The intrusive re collections, pain, and depression diminished significantly. As you know, I was v ery grateful. The ADD findings made sense, even retroactively. My situation now is that Im trying to leave Israel. I was not allowed to accomp any my 2 children, now 19 and 17, to see my ailing 89 y.o. mother, in October, 2 010. The Court would not allow me to exit, even to see a mother with leukemia... all for a small bank debt after my divorce. This cruelty set me back significant ly. I had also intended to meet with you then, but that was impossible. So, I ha ve been entrapped in a Kafka-esque reality, complete with abusive landlords, cor rupt companies & banks...all supplying a seemingly non-stop procession of trauma and obstacles. I have been reduced to a tormented soul, living a tortured exist ence. However, to have been re-united with my beloved chidren makes it all worth it, but...I am so fearful and beleaguered. Therefore, I cannot come to Boston in April. Also, I face surgery next month for a hernia (umbilical), and a sonogram yesterday indicated some kidney mass, so I have a CT scan on May 3rd. Also, my very high PSA (6.3) is being explored and, hopefully, a biopsy will rule out the worst. I hope for the usual "enlarged pros tate" common diagnosis. I have been so overwhelmed by anxiety and panic, that my ADLs are almost back to the extreme. As the "anniversary" of the 6/1/2001 terr or attack approaches (33 days) I find it more and more difficult to focus, atten d to legal matters (another eviction; procedure to get exit visa; bankruptcy), c oncentrate (my wallet and cell phone were stolen, as I forgot them in a public place) and compromised "executive functions." I have learned that the treatment for the ADD and severe anxiety/panic allow me to function fairly effectively. I no longer take anti-depressants (ssris). So m y regimen of 2003-2006 and 2009 on is the significant and empirically proven cou rse of treatment. The doctors here have been unwilling to help and agree that I should: "just get over it! Plenty of people here have been through worse! Youre a Doctor, for godssakes!..." This callous and dismissive approach has been deva stating. TEVA is the largest generic pharmaceutical company now, yet the generic Aderrall they produce is not available here and not on the formulary. Above all, do no harm?....not here. Having devoted my life to helping traumatized children (since Childrens Hosp, S .F. 1973-81; SSDD and Mass. practice 1986-2005), I am astounded that I cannot re ceive any relief from my own, well-documented suffering, misery, and anxiety. On ly a dedicated, loyal, and respectful physician, half a world away (that would be you, Dr.Mian...) has answered my appeals for merciful intervention. The years 2 006-2009 were a longitudinal study in untreated ADD, Inattentive Type and profou ndly painful "clinical trial," where I was in the "control group" which received no treatment. I will make an appointment to consult with you the moment I am free...and free t o do so. I pray that I can leave here by June, or as soon as possible before or after that time. I want so much to live...and live with some quality of life. If needed, I would sign a sworn affadavit as to my condition and need for continue d treatment, and I could contact some prominent M.D.s who might support this hu manitarian plea. Without it, I descend into overwhelmed inefficiency, rumination , and the concomitant abusive responses so readily provided here in the terror w ar zone. Thank you, Dr. Mian. I shall see you soon. hough the Administration complains of

lacking leverage with the regime, it could recall our ambassador and expel Syri as emissary from Washington. How does a smal l, energy-poor and serially misbehaving Middle Eastern regime always seem to get a Beltway pass? Conspiracy nuts and other tenured faculty would have us believe that country is Israel, though the Jewish state shares Americas enemies and ou r democratic values. But the question really applies to Syria, where the Assad r egime is now showing its true nature. Washingtons Syria Lobby is a bipartisan mindset. "The road to Damascus is a roa d to peace," said Nancy Pelosi on a 2007 visit to Syria as House Speaker. Former Secretary of State James Baker is a longtime advocate of engagement with the Ho use of Assad. So is Republican Chuck Hagel, who in 2008 co-wrote an op-ed with f ellow Senator John Kerry in these pages titled "Its Time to Talk to Syria." The Massachusetts Democrat has visited Damascus five times in the past two years al one. Yesterday, the New York Times quoted a senior Administration official saying the U.S. was reluctant to criticize the Syrian President because he "sees himself a s a Westernized leader" and that "hell react if he believes he is being lumped in with brutal dictators." This was meant as a defense of U.S. policy. The argument made by the Syria Lobby runs briefly as follows: The Assad family i s occasionally ruthless, especially when its survival is at stake, but its also secular and pragmatic. Though the regime is Irans closest ally in the Middle E ast, hosts terrorists in Damascus, champions Hezbollah in Lebanon and has funnel ed al Qaeda terrorists into Iraq, it will forgo those connections for the right price. Above all, it yearns for better treatment from Washington and the return of the Golan Heights, the strategic plateau held by Israel since 1967. The Syria Lobby also claims that whoever succeeds Assad would probably be worse. The country is divided by sect and ethnicity, and the fall of the House of Assa d could lead to bloodletting previously seen in Lebanon or Iraq. Some members of the Lobby go so far as to say that the regime remains broadly popular. "I think that President Assad is going to count on . . . majoritarian support within the country to support him in doing what he needs to do to restore order," Flynt Le verett of the New America Foundation said recently on PBSs NewsHour. Now we are seeing what Mr. Leverett puts down merely to the business of "doing w hat he needs to do": Video clips on YouTube of tanks rolling into Syrian cities and unarmed demonstrators being gunned down in the streets; reports of hundreds killed and widespread "disappearances." Even the Obama Administration has belate dly criticized Assad, though so far President Obama has done no more than condem n his "outrageous human rights abuses." Maybe this is all part of the Administrations strategic concept of "leading fro m behind," which is how one official sums up its foreign policy in this weeks N

ew Yorker. But the deeper problem is a flawed analysis of the Syrian regimes be liefs, intentions and capacity for change. Run by an Alawite minority, the regim e was never going to break with its Shiite benefactors in Tehran and join the Ar ab Sunni orbit. A regime that builds its domestic legitimacy on hostility to Isr ael is also unlikely ever to make peace, even if it recovered the Golan. So it shouldnt surprise that Damascus has only stepped up its anti-American rhe toric since President Obama came to office offering engagement (and lately retur ning a U.S. ambassador to Damascus after a six-year hiatus), or that its ties to Tehran have only grown closer (as Amir Taheri describes nearby), or that it con tinues to meddle in Lebanon, which it sees as a part of "Greater Syria." What is surprising is that for so long the U.S. has refused to stare these facts in the face. Though the Administration complains of lacking leverage with the regime, it coul d recall our ambassador and expel Syrias emissary from Washington. As the Found ation for Defense of Democracies suggests, the U.S. and Europe could also freeze and seize the assets of the Assads, designate Syrias elite units responsible f or human rights abuses as Specially Designated Global Terrorist entities, impose sanctions on companies providing the regimes tools of repression, and provide the Syrian opposition with encrypted communications technology to dodge the regi mes surveillance. All this would damage the regime while signaling the oppositi on not to lose courage. I We now know why the $7 billion Saudi-funded anti-Semitic propag anda machine was so intent on equating Jews with Nazis...the best hatred/genocid e money can buy...and has bought. 32 minutes ago Like Christina Sego Gary their lies work so well that before I took the initiative to study history including former canaan, how it IS jewish land, and arab muslim i nvasion in the 7th century, I too fell for the zionism is racism rubbish... Th ese organisations and these palestinians lie to westerners how they want 1 big secular state for all, they wrongly portray jews as the racists who have forced them under some apartheid, and its with these sob stories thats how they get you to believe their lies... They talk of everything to discredit jewish land, f rom khazar jews to comparing zionism to nazism, and if youre a person who doesn t know about history or islam, then they will brainwash you easily, I should kn ow, they succeeded with me for a short while... Till some things like their hist orical claims began to not make sense to me, things like; how can palestinians claim to descend from canaanites when canaanites were hamitic yet arabs are not ? And arabs invaded in the 7th century LONG AFTER jewish presence on land... Tha ts what led me to study, and also the abuse I received from muslims who were na sty towards my feminine appearance calling me a whore etc... Since then, I learn t so much about islam, stand totally by israel, care much more for my christian faith, and even discovered my own jewish roots! I said: how can I go on radio and TV...I dont know anything about Israel or the Middle East. The Ay ers-type scumball and their Saudi pimps reassured me that they would give me "c ue cards" filled with "aall you need to know" and say. It was disgusting, but... tempting.
