Currently teaching 6th grade language arts in a team environment. Fostering a classroom environment conducive to learning and promoting excellent student/teacher interaction. Developing and implementing lesson plans with a focus on the Common Core State Standards. Utilizing literature circles and writing centers. Working with a team of teachers to develop integrated lesson plans, organize field trips, manage discipline and ensure success for all students. Participating in faculty and parent conferences.

Henderson Middle School

Taught sixth and seventh grade language arts in a team environment. Developed and implemented North Carolina standard course of study lesson plans. Worked with a team of teachers to develop integrated lesson plans, organize field trips, and manage discipline. Utilized Write for the Future material to prepare students for their 7th grade writing test. Utilized a variety o f EOG sources to prepare students for their reading EOG.

Taught ninth grade English on a humanities team in a block schedule. Participated in a team approach to education with a Social Studies teacher. Developed and implemented standards based lesson plans for integrated units with my teaching partner. Utilized media literacy to teach students Romeo and Juliet as well as mythology.
