Air Force Respite Care Program

Did you know that the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) provides respite or gift of time to active duty Air Force families who have a family member with special needs? This person may be a child, spouse, or another relative living in the household. This assistance program provides the family a break as AFAS covers the cost of care for the special needs family member. In the AFAS Respite Care Program a family may receive childcare assistance for a three-month period. The program is intended to assist those experiencing financial difficulties due to the added cost of caring for a special needs family member. A budget is requested if the family requests more assistance after the first three-month certificate. Air Force families are referred to AFAS for respite care through the Exceptional Family Member Program, Special Needs Identification Program, or Family Advocacy. For more information on AFAS Respite Care Program, please contact the Kadena A&FRC @ 6343366.
