NCR Native Message Mode

Message mode is a software feature that is available for customizing the SST operation locally. The feature is available in the CONFIGURE menu within the supervisor mode. It is a possible 17-digit number when printed using the menu option 1, PRNT CONFIG. The data is identified by the line MESSAGE MODE = . The number of digits can vary from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 17. Most software has 8 digits available to program (see Table 6-4, Menu 1 for an example). The first digit is digit a , with the remaining digits following the alphabet (for example, Message Mode = abcdefghijklmnopq). Table 7-2 describes each digit and its definition.
