LESSON PLAN

Teacher: Fazakas Monica Florentina School: coala Gimnazial Nr 1 Srbi Date: the 12th of October 2012 Time: 50 minutes Number of students: 27 Grade: 6th Textbook: World Class Module 1Animals: Topic: Quiz time Type: acquiring new information Skills: writing, speaking, reading, listening Teaching techniques: conversation, individual work, dialogues, exercise, explanation, game. Aids: textbook, pupils` notebooks, cards with numbers, chalk, blackboard, worksheets. Lesson competences: By the end of the lesson students will be able to: Recognize the parts of the body Ask questions and give short answers Recognize wild animals Describe animals

ACTIVITY 1: WARM UP Aim: to create a pleasant atmosphere and to relax. Procedure: The teacher greets the pupils. The pupil on duty tells absents; the teacher writes absents in the roll; then the teacher checks the homework and the previous knowledge. As a warm up activity pupils play the game Simon says: Simon says put your hands on your nose, ears, eyes, mouth, knees, shoulders, etc. Estimated time: 5 minutes INTERACTION: teacher pupils ACTIVITY 2: LEAD IN Aim: to raise interest in topic Procedure: The teacher tells students she has some cards with animals. One student extracts one card but doesnt show it to the others; they have to find out what it is by questions like: Is it a reptile? Does it live in Africa? Teacher does the first dialogue with one of the pupils as an example (one of the pupils comes and extracts a card and teacher

asks him/her questions in order to find out the animal). Pupils do the same, following the given example. Timing: 5 minutes INTERACTION: teacher- pupils ACTIVITY 3: PRESENTATION Aim: recognize the animals and the parts of the body Procedure: Students do exercise C i.e. they have to match the words with the numbers on the pictures. Then using the given words students write sentences e.g. crocodile/big reptile/ strong teeth A crocodile is a big reptile with strong teeth. The exercise is done on the blackboard. Students read a handout with the description of some animals and have to match the picture with its description. Timing: 5 minutes Interaction: teacher-pupil ACTIVITY 4: PRACTICE Aim: practice the description of animals Procedure: Teacher shows pupils some images with animals and asks them to describe the animals in the picture. Teacher asks students to write the description of an animal including: size, special parts of the body, where it lives, colour, what it eats, when it sleeps; they can use the model in exercise E. Timing: 10 minutes Interaction: teacher- pupil, ACTIVITY 5: FEED-BACK Aim: to guess the animal Procedure: Students read their descriptions to the class and the other ones have to guess the animal. Teacher gives marks to the most active pupils. Timing: 10 minutes Interaction: pupil-pupil, teacher- pupils. ACTIVITY 7: HOMEWORK Students have to describe their favourite animal Timing: 3minutes Interaction: teacher-pupil
