HYDRAULIC MACHINES

Power Performance in Hydraulic Machines

In the design of hydraulic machinery, Andritz AG has done true pioneering work. The first water turbines were planned, designed and manufactured here more than 120 years ago! Hydraulic machines supplied by Andritz have since helped ensure electric current supply in many countries across the globe. Extensive research and development in the laboratories and test stands of ASTR Institute of hydraulic research, a Graz-based affiliate of Andritz AG, form the foundation stone for this.

Horizontal Kaplan Bulb Turbines

Vertical Kaplan Turbines

Horizontal Kaplan Bulb Turbines are ideal for large flow rates at a comparatively low head (up to 30 m). Also, great variations in both the flow rate and head commend their use. These turbines stand for highest efficiency at a large flow rate, due to straight flow.

Vertical Kaplan turbines are used in run-off river power stations with a head of up to 65 m. A high output and efficiency over the entire operating range are characteristics of this turbine design.

Pelton turbines are the answer to comparatively low flow rates and heads in the upper range (up to 1800 m). They are built with horizontal or vertical shafts, single or multiple jets, and are double or single regulated. In the limelight:

Storage Pumps and Pump Turbines

Compact Turbines

Compact turbines are optimally suited to harnessing small hydroresources. Operators can choose individual components or complete solutions from our systems range: from the turbine to the electric and governor equipment, to turn-key systems, all from a single source!
