USERS SHOULD ALREADY BE FULLY FAMILIAR WITH NORMAL USE OF THE SYSTEM BEING TESTED. IF A DIAGNOSTIC FAILS, YOU MAY WANT TO SEEK THE ASSISTANCE OF A TRAINED TECHNICIAN TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. AS FAR AS I KNOW, THESE PROCEDURES ARE DESIGNED FOR 8TH GENERATION HONDA ACCORDS. THESE DIAGNOSTICS MAY NOT WORK WITH ALL TRIM LEVELS.
c. d. e.
If the vehicle speed exceeds 1.2 mph or the ignition switch is turned to LOCK, the diagnostic mode ends. During the diagnostic mode, all indicator lights within the instrument cluster will blink. At the initial state of the diagnostic, the beeper sounds intermittently. The beeper sounds continuously when any of the following switch inputs are switched from OFF to ON: Cruise Main, SET/DECEL, RESUME/ACCEL, CANCEL, SEL/RESET, parking brake switch and VSA OFF switch.
f.
When entering the diagnostic, the beeper sounds five times and all instrument LCD segment blink five times. The speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and engine coolant temperature gauge needles sweep from the minimum position to the maximum position, then return to the minimum position. g. After the beeper stops sounding and the gauge needles return to the minimum position, pushing the SEL/RESET button starts the Beeper Drive Circuit Check (one beep) and the Gauge Drive Circuit Check again. h. This diagnostic cannot be repeated until the gauges return to the minimum position.
2. Headlights On: 01 (max low) through 22 (max high) d. No. 5 button: Vehicle speed pulse indication mode. Indicates the vehicle speed pulse. e. AF/FM or FM button: Reception level check mode. Indicates the reception level. When entering the reception level check mode, the AM/FM or FM button is used to change the main/sub antenna. The diagnostic ends if the audio unit or ignition is turned OFF. i. The diagnostic screen checks the audio units reception level. This level can then be used in the diagnosis of audio unit reception quality. The reception leve is displayed in decibles (dB). 1. Park the vehicle outdoors in a good place for reception 2. Tune to a powerful local FM station and a powerful AM station and record the station numbers. 3. Enter the reception level indication mode (see 3e above). 4. Tune to the FM station you recorded earlier using the TUNING knob and note the decibel level. 5. Press and release the A.SEL button to turn the antenna amplifier off and note the decibel level. 6. Press and release the A.SEL button to turn the antenna amplifier back on. 7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 to check the AM station you recorded earlier. 8. Turn the ignition off or audio unit off to exit test mode. 9. Compare your results to a known good vehicle of the same make, model, year and trim level in the same location and under the same environmental conditions.
