The Right Honourable Christopher Geidt Private Secretary of Her Majesty the Queen Buckingham Palace London, United Kingdom SW1A 1AA
Dear Mr. Geidt: The Legal and Literary Society was founded in 1876 and is responsible for coordinating and funding the numerous professional, athletic, social, and extracurricular activities at Osgoode Hall Law School, at York University in Toronto, Canada. Legal and Lit is the primary student government of the law school. Our executive works to provide student services and enhance student life. In doing so, our goal is to ensure that Osgoode Hall maintains its storied tradition as one of Canadas most prestigious institutions for legal education. In 2012, Canadians celebrated the 60th anniversary of Her Majestys accession to the Throne. As our volunteer organization plans to deliver its mandate for the 2013/14 academic year, we are inspired by Her Majestys extraordinary record of service, which has touched generations of citizens throughout the Commonwealth. Her Majesty remains a living symbol of our evolving Canadian identity, which in parallel has given rise to the evolving character and challenges of the Canadian legal profession. Our constituency consists of future members of provincial and territorial law societies who seek to promote a more equal, responsive, and accessible legal profession in their respective practices. As Legal and Lit seeks to plant the seeds of these noble aspirations in the legal education environment, we are buoyed by the Canadian Monarchys longstanding engagement with contemporary social issues and charitable causes. We would be delighted if you are able to share our message with the Queen, on the occasion of Her official birthday in Canada, celebrated on Monday, May 20, 2013. We offer Her Majesty our sincerest wishes of health and happiness on this joyous occasion. Sincerely,
