Annotated Bibliography This annotated bibliography contains sources based off of my research on pharmacy and leadership. I would like to become a pharmacist and my project I have proposed is based around leadership. These two subjects are what I researched and did my bibliography on.

Albright, Steve. (2013). Leadership Articles. Retrieved from http://www.leadershiparticles.net/ Article/How-to-Become-an-Effective-Leader/9878. This source was intended for aspiring leaders. This article seems to be purposed to help any hopeful in the field of leadership. The article from Leadership Articles helps to give me insight on the true intricacy of leadership. Everyone in themselves is a leader, but each of us has our own strengths and weaknesses that allow us to succeed and cause us to fail. Albright states that there are natural born leaders, but he also states that with much hard work and practice everyone can become a leader. I believe that this article will help me when assessing the children involved in my projects growths. While I am instructing them I believe that it is important that I realize that each is an individual and may learn differently and be more comfortable in different situations than others. This article will help me throughout my research because it clearly defines a leader and specifically states that every person is a different person and has different leadership styles and abilities. Dao, Francisco. (2008, March). Inc. Retrieved from http://www.inc.com/resources/leadership/ articles/20080301/dao.html.

leadership. I believe that the audience of this piece is meant to be growing leaders or those aspiring to strength their leadership abilities. This is effective for my research project because it confirms the thought that I was basing my project on. I was assuming that leadership and confidence go hand in hand. This article helps to confirm that theory and will allow me to give myself a ground to start. Instead of jumping head first into leadership building activities, I can formulate a beginning curriculum to allow each student to become comfortable with themselves to begin. Icles, Bart. (2013). Leadership Articles. Retrieved from http://www.leadershiparticles.net/Article/ How-To-Develop-Leadership-Qualities/13200. This article by Bart Icles was intended for people intending to grow their leadership abilities within business settings. Although this is not the setting I am looking to prepare myself for, the article makes some very important points within leadership in general. The point that leaders may be born but the leadership does no good if not sculpted allows me to give my project incentive to be done. Allow the children I will be working with may possess leadership abilities they have not had the experiences to define their leadership style or to analyze their strengths and weaknesses. This article has transformed my view of my own project from an idea to a necessity. Karlsberg, R., and Adler, J. (1999-2009). Charting Your Coarse to High Performance. Expert Performance. Retrieved from http://www.expertperformancesystems.com/reports/ Confidence.pdf.

This piece is an extensive layout for developing leadership among a group. I am not planning on formulating a business group and I have not planned on working on this project with peers of mine, but this plan for developing leadership will help me throughout the process of getting my project approved. As stated within the piece you must first gain the trust of the others you are working with before you are able to become a leader within their eyes. One way that it is said that you may gain trust is through frequent communication. You must communicate with those that are also involved in the project at hand. For example, I will have to contact the parents of my children on a regular basis to give progress reports and to receive permission to access grade and other information about their children. If I do not give them notice prior to wanting the information and if I dont build their trust in me I will have a difficult time accessing and completing my project. From this article I have taken away the importance in a plan and the importance of trust and communication. Nobel, Carmen. (2012, July). Harvard Business School. Retrieved from http://hbswk.hbs.edu/ item/6876.html. As well as the article by Expert Performance, this article demonstrates the true value of communication and becoming a conversational leader. Without communication success is small in possibility. To become successful within a project, you must ask for help and openly receive help. No one person can complete everything by themselves. With this article I have seen the benefits of developing conversational leadership qualities and

before I may begin the process of completely my research on leadership, I must expand my own leadership abilities. Rawlins, MD. (1991, February). Am J Pharm Educ. Retrieved from http:// www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1669360/?page=2. This article about pharmacy shows the future and current progressions within the field of pharmacy. Pharmacists have been trying to obtain rights to diagnose and dispense drugs to patients without the approval of a doctor. Pharmacists want to extend their education to develop these skills. These facts show me that pharmacy is a growing field. Also I am reassured in my choice to become a pharmacist because of the fact that the field is growing and I will be presented with more possibilities throughout my career. Rouse, Michael. (2004, July). J Am Pharm Assoc. Retrieved from http://japha.org/article.aspx? articleid=1038468. The article by the J Am Pharm Assoc. I believe was written for beginning pharmacists or prospective pharmacists. I have expanded my perspective by exhibiting a need for specialized career plans. I have realized through reading this article that a career I pursue within pharmacy will become what I make. My career, within pharmacy, will be what I make it. This is a comforting fact because I will have the ability to make decisions for myself. This article has reinforced my drive to become a pharmacist. Savage, L., Beall, J., and Woolley, T. (2009, April). Am J Pharm Educ. Retrieved from http:// www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2690887/.

I have been able to take a great deal from this proposed project. Not only has it given me the ability to look at the goals that I will one day be a part of as a pharmacist, but it has also given me an example of a well written project proposal. This group of professionals have put together a project that I will be able to follow to receive information about my future career and they have put together a good example for my project proposal to follow. Skau, Kenneth. (2007, February). Am J Pharm Educ. Retrieved from http:// www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1847547/. Kenneth Skaus piece has given me an insight into the background of the field that I aspire to enter. From this piece I have taken that the field has progressed, but it has taken many years to reach the point that it is at today. I believe that through reading this piece I will be given the patience I need within the field. I have come to understand that the research I do within the field will take time and that I must develop patience to become successful in the field. This can also be related to the patience that I will need to develop within my research in the coming years. Sheaffer, E., Brown, B., Byrd, D., Gupchup, G., Mark, S., Smith, M., and Rospond, R. (2008, June). Am J Pharm Educ. Retrieved from http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/ PMC2508718/. This piece has also given me a good example for my project proposal, along with the one by Laney Savage and her partners. This project was proposed to show the variables impacting career choices within the field of pharmacy. Along with the insight into the

many career choices within pharmacy, I took away the fact that pharmacists are highly needed. As a pharmacist I will be able to help others while also involving my work in chemistry. Going into a field such as pharmacy I believe will be beneficial for me because of the high need, interaction with others, and the interaction with chemistry.
