The following Clauses amend relevant Clauses in Section 5 of QCS, or are additional Clauses, as appropriate. PART 3 CEMENT 3.4 Add following additional Clause 1. Ordinary Portland cement shall be normal setting Portland cement conforming to the requirements of BS 12:1989. 2. Unless otherwise specified, ordinary Portland cement shall be used for all concrete work. 3. Sulphate Resistant cement shall be used for mass foundation and blinding (below grade) unless specified otherwise SRC shall confirm to BS 4027:1980. 4. Contractor shall only use cement manufactured by Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC). In case of non availability of cement from QNCC, Contractor shall obtain written approval from ENGINEER to source cement from other manufacturers. PART 6 PROPERTY REQUIREMENT Delete Clause 6.2.2 entirely and add following. 6.2.2 Design of Concrete Mixes: 1. Structural concrete for all structures shall be OPC 35 and shall have minimum compressive strength of 35N/mm 2 at 28 days. All concrete for water tank structure shall be with non soluble crystal forming water proof admixture 3% by total weight of cementatious material or as per manufactures recommendation as applicable. Minimum cement content shall be 370kg/m and maximum free water cemet ratio is 0.45. Mass concrete and blinding concrete shall be SRC 25 and shall have minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm 2 at 28 days. 2. Mix design shall be such that a. The aggregate shall comprise fine aggregate and coarse aggregate (Gabbro) no greater than the maximum size specified in Section 5 Part 2 of QCS b. The combined aggregate grading shall be continuous c. The aggregate quantity shall be calculated by weight d. The mixes shall be designed to produce a concrete cube strength at twenty-eight days after manufacture of not less than the cube strength specified in Table. Delete Sub-clause 9.3.2 and add following. 9.3.2 SURFACE FINISH CLASSIFICATION:

1. Finishes to formed surfaces of cast in situ concrete shall be classified as F1,F2 and F3. Class F1: Rough board formwork suitable for foundations. The irregularities in the finish shall be no greater than those obtained from use of properly designed forms of closely-joined sawn boads. Small blemishes caused by entrapped air or moisture will be permitted, but the surface shall be free from voids, honeycombing or other large blemishes. External concrete below ground shall be finished to Class F1. Class F2: The irregularities in the finish shall be no greater than those obtained from the use of wrought thickness square edged boards arranged in a uniformed pattern. The finish is intended to be left as struck but imperfections such as fins and surface discolouration shall, if required, be made good by methods approved by the ENGINEER. Concealed concrete works, unless otherwise specified shall be to Class F2. Class F3: The formwork shall be lined with a material approved by ENGINEER to provide smooth finish of uniform texture and appearance. This material shall leave no discolouration on the concrete and shall be so joined and fixed to its backing that it imparts no blemishes. It shall be of the same type and obtained from only one source throughout any one structure. CONTRACTOR shall make good any imperfections in the resulting finish as required by the ENGINEER. Internal ties and embedded metal parts will be allowed only with ENGINEER specific approval. Concrete specified with fairfaced finish shall be to Class F3. CONTRACTOR shall ensure that permanently exposed concrete surfaces to Class F3 are protected from rust marks, spillage and stains of all kinds. PART 11 - REINFORCEMENT Delete Clause 11.2.1 and add following. 11.2.1 REINFORCING BARS: 1. 2. Reinforcement shall be high yield hot rolled bars complying with BS 4449, unless specified otherwise. Characteristic strength of high yield bars shall be 460N/mm 2. Concrete cover to outer layer of reinforcement shall be 75 mm 40 mm 40 mm 30 mm

3.

If steel has excessive surface rust, dust or other deleterious material then steel shall be sand blasted . Sand for blasting shall not contain material deleterious to durability of reinforcement or concrete. Dune sand shall not be used for sand blasting. All reinforcement shall be pressure washed with water after erection and immediately before placing concrete.

GENERAL Add following Sub-clause.

14.1.2 Unless specified elsewhere all concrete below ground shall be protected as shown in various sectional details in Structural drawings. All the horizontal surfaces of concrete in contact with soil protected with blinding concrete and over blinding shall be protected by approved BITUTHENE 8000 HC with 150mm (min) laps on primed surface or similar approved. Cement sand screed of at least 40 mm thick shall be used as a protection on the membrane on horizontal surfaces and slopes not exceeding 450. All vertical surface of concrete in contact with soil shall be protected with approved BITUTHENE 8000 HC or similar approved and 6 mm thick servipak or other approved suitably bonded to retain position. Contractor shall submit proposal and obtain approval for all construction joints and expansion joints in the concrete works. 14.1.3 Contractor shall provide ENGINEER with 10 year unconditional written guaranty for concrete protection system. Guaranty shall be valid from date of completion of contract. 14.3.1 PROTECTION BOARD: Protection board shall be 6mm thick servipak or other approved suitably bonded to retain position. Protection board shall confirm to BS 8102: 1990.
