5" Revetment Mattress

Submar Revetment Mats are an articulating concrete mat used primarily for pipeline protection, erosion control, and shoreline stabilization. This 6,200 lbs. mat is 4" thick and has a low hydraulic profile when placed in a streambed. Pipeline companies prefer Submar mats over their pipelines for several reasons. The mats can be removed and replaced after required pipeline maintenance. If the stream undergoes significant changes, the mats can be repositioned to compensate for changing flow patterns. The mat has open areas that allow re-vegetation through the mat. The design for matted areas includes a rapid return to a natural appearance. We attempt to "blend in" with the natural riparian corridors. Our designs have created wildlife habitat and increase diversity in streams where mats were installed.

Submar Installation Services

Submar performs turnkey installation services. A typical installation includes a site visit and a field survey. Proposals are prepared that includes a site description, failure analysis, drawings for mat placement, scope of work, turnkey pricing and warranty. Permitting assistance is also available from an experienced regulatory staff. Submar monitors its mat installation sites to document design success.

9" Construction Mattress

The Construction Mat is primarily used for separation, stabilization, and protection of underwater pipelines in deep and shallow water. The design of the mats allows for self-silting and proper separation between the pipelines. The silt-in process aids in the mat's stability. The Construction Mat is easily installed by a ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle), diver handling frame or Submar's patented mechanical handling frame, especially designed for ultra deep-water mattress deployment. Submar mats can be supplied with patented 'Non-Shielding', 'Non-Abrasive' pads. Articulating concrete mats have been used successfully in the North Sea for many years. Submar introduced concrete mat technology to the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf) in 1990. Before that time, pipeline operators in the Gulf used traditional sand/cement bags for pipeline crossings. Submar mats have been used very successfully for pipeline separation, stabilization and protection. Articulated concrete mat crossings are accepted as the new standard by DOT, MMS, contractors and pipeline operators. The concrete mat is superior in quality of construction, costs savings, and worker safety compared to sand/cement bag technology. Mats can allow access to pipelines valves or other protected structures by removing

mats used as cover, then replacing the same mats after maintenance. Recent advances in offshore technology have expanded the need and utilization of concrete mats. Mats can be placed diverless by ROV, which allows deepwater deployment. New survey techniques allows accurate placement at great depths. Submar mats have an indefinite lifetime in offshore applications.
