Parriott Rules For Success Artifact #2 1) NO PERSONAL ATTACKS VERBAL OR PHYSICAL. Students must understand that they are safe at all times in my classroom. If at anytime you make another student feel unsafe, you will be asked to leave. 2) Show Respect Towards Others. At times we will be dealing with complex topics, abstract terms, and controversial topics. We must all understand that no one has a monopoly on the truth. Each persons individual thought is highly valuable. Respect opinions even if they differ from your own, and have the maturity to try to understand other trains of thought. 3) Respect Yourself. Sometimes we will struggle. No one walks before they can crawl. Each wrong answer is one step closer to the right one. Dont hang your head when you make mistakes, instead try to understand the mistake so you can correct it in the future. Each one of you has different strengths, find those areas and capitalize upon them. 4) Be Prepared Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Students must make the commitment to coming to class prepared. I will not give homework assignments that are trivial an unneeded for classroom success. Completion of assignments will prepare you for participation. 5) Engage Your Mind I cannot force you to learn. In order to develop personally we must all continue to think and challenge ourselves. If students make a commitment to daily engagement with the material, I will make a commitment to your success in the class
