1. The Health Form (A) is required for all scouts and all parents staying longer than 24 hours. For this year
only, a current physical signed by a doctor may substitute for this form. Attach it to the Health Form (A)
and still complete all the appropriate blanks. Dr. Stan Sczecienski has volunteered to do summer camp
physicals for $20. Contact Dr. Sczecienski at 734-261-3778.
2. Our charter organization, OLGC, asks parents attending summer camp to take the course, “Protecting
God’s Children”.
3. On the State of Mi Health Form (B) under “Release of Campers from Camp”, be sure to list anyone who
may have to pick-up your child. Scouts will not be released to anyone unless they are listed on that
form.
4. Cost is $265 for scouts, $100 for adults. Payment and all forms must be turned in by May 4.
5. Financial considerations should not keep any boy from camp. See our Scoutmaster for more
information on the ‘Campership’ program.
6. Scouts must sign up for merit badges before camp. More information will be provided at upcoming
troop meetings. Some merit badges are better suited for the older scouts. Scouts are responsible for
completing some prerequisites before attending camp.
7. Parents are welcome to attend the Friday night steak dinner and evening bonfire. If you plan to attend
dinner, then be sure to sign up so enough food can be prepared. Cole charges $9 for the meal.
8. Parents are encouraged to attend other nights as well. Cost per meal is as follows: $6 breakfast, $7
lunch, $9 dinner. Please consider coming mid-week if possible as many parents come at the beginning
or end of camp.
9. Bikes are not needed and are discouraged. If a scout does bring a bike, he is responsible for its
transportation to and from camp. Helmet is absolutely required.
10. Scouts need about $25 in spending cash. This needs to cover fast-food to and from camp, souvenirs and
snacks at the Trading Post. In addition, some merit badges like shotgun and basket weaving have cost
requirements.
11. Mess kits are required.
12. No open toe sandles. Bring a pair of water shoes or old sneakers you don’t mind getting wet.
13. Incoming calls are for emergencies only. The Cole Canoe Base telephone is (989) 836-2389. Make sure
the caller knows the Scouts Name, Troop Number (781) and camp site (Deer Run).
14. More info can be found at http://bit.ly/colecamp. Please review the leader guide.
15. Any questions? See one of the Troop 781 Leaders.
