Environmental Remediation Employing Proprietary Microbiology Process (MCC)

Technology Profile

This technology involves unique proprietary know-how employing indigenous biological agents. Known as MCC, the process creates rapid acceleration of the natural remediation of contaminants in situ. Available for both contaminated soil and water clean-up, the process can effectively clean the surface or subsurface of large areas. All additives employed are fully biodegradable. No biological agents outside the immediate environment are introduced. Bacteria that presently feed on the containments are identified as the primary focus of the MMC process. Employing active aggressive remediation know-how, the technology has demonstrated a proven ability to contain and then destroy contaminants within a compressed remediation timeframe, quickly eliminating liability and rapidly returning an area to safe environmental compliance. While no scientific analysis of the Arkansas contamination site has been conducted by our team, prior experience suggests the MCC Technology is the only feasible approach to this severe environmental challenge. The technology has been reviewed and approved for use by the U.S. Navy under the NFESC Innovative Technologies Program. The results of prior radiation projects are available. One previous clean up project was conducted at Tamaulipas, Mexico. That project involved a pipeline release of crude oil with contamination levels at 127,043 ppm to a depth of 5 meters. The site conditions were complicated by the presence of a highway, bridge support structure and steam. The clean up project began in the month of December and was completed the following November. Project Proposal: Supported by local support, our team could evaluate the Arkansas site characteristics with its remediation engineering team to develop an effective strategy with cost and time estimates. Remediation can be both time-efficient and cost-effective.

How MCC Works: Employing a combination of proven, proprietary technologies including enhanced biodegradation, vapor extraction, air sparging, vacuum enhanced product recovery and desorption of hydrocarbons from soil particles, the result is a fast, cost-effective remediation system. Air sparging of the saturated zone volatilizes dissolved constituents in the ground water where they are captured in the vapor extraction wells The bio-reaction process in the vadose zone is created by enhancement of the indigenous bacteria through the application of moisture, nutrients and other co-metabolites. The system allows for an appropriate air circulation rate and moisture enhancement for a sustained bio-reaction process. The enhanced extracted vapor is re-injected back into the sparge and vadose zone where the closed-loop process is repeated. Since all vapors are recirculated, there is no requirement for air quality permits or vapor destruction equipment. To mobilize smeared hydrocarbons, a biodegradable surfactant is used. The surfactant is injected at a temperature of approximately 36 degrees C (95 degrees F) The high temperature reduces the viscosity of the immobile constituents to that of water and allows the hydrocarbons to mobilize freely. The mobilized/emulsified product is then drawn into extraction/recovery well system where it is removed using skimmer pumps. The well spacing, grid pattern and area of coverage are designed to target the remediation at the precise location and depth of the impacted area. The design ensures complete remediation.
