Draw Hybrid - model for a transistor in the CE configuration and explain the significance of every component in this model. Given a germanium p-n-p transistor whose base width is 104 cm. At room temperature and for a dc emitter current of 3 mA, find: (i) Emitter diffusion capacitance. (ii) fT [Assume diffusion constant as 47 cm2/sec]. Sketch the frequency response of R-C coupled amplifier and explain the effect of coupling capacitances. In an RC coupled amplifier, AVM = 40, fL = 80 Hz and fH = 150 KHz. Find the values of frequencies at which the gain reduces to 50 on either side of mid-band region. What is the effect of a voltage shunt negative feedback in the following performance measures of a BJT amplifier: (i) Input resistance. (ii) Output resistance. (iii) Bandwidth. (iv) Distortion and noise. (v) Gain stability. Referring to Fig. of CE amplifier with voltage-shunt feedback, it has the following values of circuit parameters: Rs= 600 , hie = 5 k, hfe = 80, RL = 2 k, RB = 40 k. Calculate AV, Rif, 1 Avf, Rof and Rof .

Draw the circuit of BJT phase shift oscillator and derive its frequency of oscillation. In a Hartley oscillator, the value of the capacitor in the tuned circuit is 500 pF and the two sections of coil have inductances 38 H and 12 H. Find the frequency of oscillations and the feedback factor . Distinguish between class A, class B and class C power amplifiers. For a class B amplifier providing a 18-V peak signal to a 16-load, with VOC = 24 V, determine the input power, output power and circuit efficiency. A square wave whose peak-to-peak value is 1 V extends + 0.5 V with respect to ground. The duration of the positive section is 0.1 sec and of the negative section is 0.2 sec. If this wave form is impressed on an RC differentiating circuit whose time constant is 0.2 sec. What are the steady state maximum and minimum values of the output waveforms? Prove that the area under the positive section is equal to the area under the negative section of the output waveform. Calculate the output levels of the following circuit for inputs of 0 and 6 volts and verify that the circuit is an inverter. What is the minimum value of hFE required? [Neglect junction saturation voltages and assume an ideal diode.]
