Journal Article Summary Guidelines Throughout the semester, you should read articles that you will use

as evidence in your research papers. You will write and present an article summary and, if time allows, start a discussion on the topic addressed in the article. The presentation should have the following elements: 1. An introduction: Introduce your name, the author of the article, and the title and date of the journal. Briefly state the thesis or key lesson from the article and its value or truth. 2. A summary: Summarize the thesis, main arguments or methodology, and conclusion of the article. 3. Your evaluation: What did the author do well? Do you agree with the authors thesis? What additional questions are raised by the author? 4. A conclusion: In one or two sentences, summarize the lesson and value of the article. 5. Questions for group discussion: Raise questions that the class can discuss based on the topic or claims of the article. Do they agree or disagree with all or part of the articles claims or argument? Why? What are the implications of applying those claims in our lives or in Albania? The first part, items 1-4, should be about 5 minutes long, and the second part, the class discussion, 2 - 5 minutes. You will be graded with the following rubric: Name: ___________________ Date: _________ Time: _________
