B12: GLAZING

PART I : GENERAL A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Work of this section as shown or specified shall be in accordance with the requirements of the whole set of the contract documents. B. SCOPE OF WORK This section includes the provision (purchase, deliver, store, fabricate and fitting, finishing) of glass as shown on drawings to be installed by related contractor and aluminum trade. 1. The Scope Includes but not necessary limited as following: a. Glass for wood doors to Bathtub (sand blasted pattern) b. Glass for all wood door as indicated in drawings c. Glass for all wood windows as indicated in drawings d. Glass mirror e. Shower screen (tempered glass) f. All must be complete with accessories 2. Related Section: a. Section B 6: Wood Carpentry b. D. SUBMITTALS 1. 2. 3. E. 1. 2. 3. 4. F. 1. 2. 3. Samples: Sample size 30 x 30 cm of each type of glass to the Architect for approval. Manufacturers Data or Product Data: For each type of glass including information regarding installation, product, and accessories. Certificates: From the manufacturer that insulation meets or exceeds requirement. QUALITY ASSURANCE Single source responsibility: Glass of each type to be produced by same manufacturer. Installer Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years documented successful experience on comparable projects. AAMA: Sloped glazing guidelines. FGMA: Glazing Manual and Sealant Manual. DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING Deliver glass units with manufacturers labels intact on inside of glass. Ensure labels indicate glass thickness, unit location, glass strength and orientation of units in vertical position. Protect glass edges and corners to prevent chipping, cracking and other similar damages. Replacements: in the event of damages, immediately make all repairs and replacement necessary to the approval of the Architect and at no additional cost and time.

G. WARRANTY Provide written warranty agreeing to replace defective units and stating insulating glass unit will from condensation, fogging and obstruction. PART II : MATERIALS A. GLASS 1. Acceptable Manufacturers and Products: a. Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) b. PT. Asahimas Jaya Flat Glass Co.,Ltd., Jakarta c. PT. Asahimas Safety Glass Co.Ltd., Jakarata Quality: a. Clear Glass: Clear K 70 Comply to ASTM C 338-57 933 glazing select Visible light transmitence: Solar 69% - 75%, X Ray 8% Absorption minimum: 18% - 24% Reflectance factor: 7% - 8% b. Tempered of Glass: Comply to ASTM C 1048 FT fully tempered, toggles horizontal tempering. Head soaked with sufficient temperature and duration to break units containing nickel sulfide inclusion. Types of Glass: Shall be read in conjunction with finishes schedule and refer to the drawing. a. Bathroom: Type Of Manufacturer: Tempered glass, PT. Asahimas Flat Glass Co.Ltd. Color: Clear Thickness: 10 mm Location: For doors and wall partition.

B. GLAZING ACCESSORIES 1. 2. 3. 4. Setting Blocks: E.P.D.M 60Durrometer. Edge Blocks: Refer to related system, compatible with silicon glazing sealant when in contact each other. Spacers (shims): Plastic, multi polymer with strength of 565 kg/cm2. Glazing gasket: Refer to related system specified.

C. GLASS FABRICATION 1. 2. 3. Accurately size glass to fit openings allowing clearance Cut glass clean and carefully. Nicks and damaged edges will not be accepted and should be replaced. Eased edges required where edges of glass remain exposed to view.

PART III : EXECUTION A. EXAMINATION 1. 2. 3. Examine condition and proceed with work in accordance to the manufacturers guidelines. Verify that openings for glazing are correctly sized and within tolerances. Verify that glazing channel surfaces or recesses are clear, free or burrs, obstructions, irregularities and glass are free of edges damage or imperfections.

B. PREPARATION Clean contact surfaces with solvent and wipe dry. C. INSTALLATION 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Install glass units panel with aluminum frame and associated doors using glazing gaskets furnished as component of framing systems. Ensure weep and drainage holes are not blocked by sealents or setting blocks. Install glazing gaskets in accordance with manufacturers instructions without exception including surface preparations. Provide setting blocks, edge blocks and spacers of proper size to support and hold glass in position independent of glazing gaskets. Comply with placement recommendation of FGMA glazing manual. Arrange setting blocks, edge blocks and spacers to avoid blocking water transfer inside frame. Set glass properly centered with uniform bite, face clearance and edge clearance free from twist, warp or other distortion likely to develop pressure. Fire rated assemblies: provide assemblies matching ceramic glass manufactures tested assemblies or assemblies acceptable to the authorities.
