Introduction
Name of your charity and the charity you are working with under the MOU: For example: Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI); Indigo Place, Lombard Road, London N1 7OP recognises the need for inter organisational co-operation and communication with the NGO Network (NGON), 178 Fifth

FSI and NGON work closely together to meet the aims development needs of small charities and NGOs worldwide. In 2010 FSI is expanding its funding programme and it is anticipated there may be areas where a formal understanding (MOU) between FSI and NGON would underpin and support the on going co-operation and current lines of communication.

Purpose and Scope


Why do you need an MOU, what is its purpose? For example: The purpose of this MOU is to provide the framework arrangement between FSI and NGON that covers fundraising initiatives and the development of relationships with: i. ii. Global/International Institutional Funding Bodies Global/International Corporations

iii. Global/International Major Donors State some of the benefits. For example: The benefit of the MOU is that both FSI and NGON have a clear framework within which to make best practice decisions that support and enhance the cause of small charities and NGOs worldwide. The benefit to potential supporters and donors is that their relationship with FSI and NGON is seamless as both organisations are working together to deliver a high quality donor experience.

Responsibilities
Who will be responsible i.e. who in each organisation is going to have the responsibility to deliver against the MOU? For example: Each party will appoint a person to serve as the official contact and coordinate the activities of each organisation to carry out this MOU.

Levels of Authority
1 to 250,000.00 The initial appointees of each organisation are:

The organisations agree to the following tasks for this MOU:

Actions
What actions are going to be taken be clear and precise. Both FSI and NGON will: Share with each other a list of current funding partners. The purpose of this exercise is to share information freely so that both know who is currently funding each organisation. The sharing of this information in no way prejudices the ability of either organisation to approach a potential donor or implies that a potential donor who approaches either organisation by whatever means should be redirected. FSI will: Inform NGON prior to any contact being made with any of the above mentioned funding partners to ascertain if NGON has a current active or a dormant relationship. NGON will: Inform FSI prior to any contact being made with any of the above mentioned funding partners to ascertain if FSI has a current active or a dormant relationship. Work together where doing so will have a positive impact on either the relationship with the funding partner or would better serve small charities and NGOs.

Dispute Settlement
Who will settle disputes? For example: Should there be disagreement between the signatories to this agreement the matter will be escalated to the next level of management and ultimately would be put in front of the Fund Development Group to be resolved through negotiation.

Terms of Understanding
How long will it last? Can it be extended? Will it be reviewed? What notice of termination will there be? Who will cover any costs?

Privileges and Immunities


For example: Nothing in or relating to this MOU shall be deemed to impinge on or change in any way the current agreements of NGON or its membership.

Authorization
Who is authorising this MOU? The signing of this MOU is not a formal undertaking. It implies that the signatories will strive to reach, to the best of their ability, the objectives stated in the MOU.
