GUIDELINE FOR ADMISSION

Prospectus can be obtained from Magadh University headquarters. The Study


Centres have also being permitted to sell Prospectus of the B.Ed. Programme
under Distance Mode to eligible applicants on payment of the prescribed price
including entrance test fee of Rs. 800/- (Rupees Eight Hundred) (for General
/Other Cate.) and Rs. 500/- (for SC/ST candidates) in the shape of Bank Draft
issued from any Nationalised Bank in favour of Director, Directorate of
Distance Education, M.U., BodhGaya Payable at Bodh-Gaya or through cash
money receipt, to be given at the sale counter.

ADMISSION FORM
The Admission Form duly supported by the self attested photo copies of the
required documents must reach :

On or before the last date for submission of the admission form either by the
candidate in person or by registered post. Admission form can also be submitted
at any Study Centre before the due date of submission accompanied with the
documents as mentioned at important considerations at the time of admission.
Study centres are only responsible for selling & collecting the forms. Classes will
be held in the Department of Education, M.U. Campus BodhGaya and other
nominated study centres (only B.Ed. colleges).
1. Self attested copies of the Marks-sheet of the qualifying examinations.
2. Self attested copy of the Matriculation Certificate in for the proof of age.
3. Self attested copy of the Caste Certificate, issued by the competent
authority (DM/DC/SDO) or any other authorized officer in respect of
SC/ST and other categories of candidates, seeking admission on reserved
quota as per University rules.
4. One passport size colour photograph must be pasted on the specified
space of the admission form be attested by the headmaster of the school
where the candidate is working as a teacher. Two more copies of the
same photograph must be attached with the admission form (with name,
admission form No. and course applied for on the back).
5. Please attach the 2

copy of money receipt with the admission form,
otherwise form will not be entertained.
6. Application form downloaded from the website must accompany entrance
test fee as mentioned in the prospectus column i.e. Rs. 800/- for general &
other categories and Rs. 500/- for SC and ST category in the form of DD.

SELECTION OF CANDIDATES FOR ADMISSION
a) Selection of candidates shall be made strictly on the basis of performance
in the Entrance Test.
b) The reservation policy of the State Govt./M.U. shall be followed.
c) University will hold the Entrance Test for selection of candidates. The
admission shall be made strictly on the basis of entrance test conducted
by the University.
d) No candidate can claim for admission as a matter of right.
e) Selected candidates will be informed for their admission through News
papers. Selection list will also be available at Study Centres, on the office
notice board and website www.mudde.org

f) Study centres at Sl. (1) to (6) mentioned at page 6 are only authorised to
sell the prospectus. Counselling Classes will only be held at the study
centres at Sl. 7 to 15 as above.
g) At the time of admission, the selected candidates will have to produce the
selection letter and all the original documents with prescribed fees for the
course in one installment in the form of demand draft only. The demand
draft issued from any Nationalised Bank in favour of "Director, Directorate
of Distance Education, M.U., Bodh-Gaya" payable at Bodh-Gaya. Cash
payment will not be accepted at the time of admission except in a
exceptional cases.
h) After admission, each candidate will be allotted a Enrolment No. He must
quote his Enrollment No. and course name for all future correspondence
with the department. Any letter, which does not bear the Enrolment
number, will not be entertained.
i) The University reserves the right to amend the schedule, rules, course
structure and fee structure as and when it is deemed necessary.
INTAKE
For two academic years, 500 students will be admitted in B.Ed.
programme (Distance Mode) based on the performance in the Entrance Test and
observing the norms of Reservation for admission as per State Government/
Magadh University Rules.



ELIGIBILITY
i) Graduation/ Post-Graduation Degree with fifty five percent (55%) marks.
(Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/OBC categories only.)
ii) Two years teaching experience (after being appointed properly through
competent authority) in a Government of Government recognized school.
iii) To be admitted to the courses for the Degree of Bachelor of Education
(B.Ed.) through distance mode a candidate having Bachelor's Degree or
any other qualifications recognized by the Academic Council of the
Magadh University as equivalent thereto. After proper appointment, on
prescribed pay serving/working in recognized school as a teacher having
at least two years teaching experience on the day of filling the admission
form, are eligible for admission to the course.
iv) No applicant shall be admitted, who has not applied for the admission
within notified time or who, on being selected for admission, does not get
himself admitted within specified time, except where the delay has been
condoned by the Vice-Chancellor.
RESERVATION
(i) Seats shall be reserved for SC [16%], ST [01%], BC-II [12%] & BC
Women [03%]. Admission against these seats will be made provided the
candidates has passed the Qualifying Examination and appeared in the
test and secured the qualifying marks in Entrance Examination i.e. 45%.
Candidates other than Bihar state shall be treated under general
category and they will not be allowed any reservation benefit nor
relaxation of 5% marks in eligibility criteria.
(ii) Appearance in the test is mandatory. The reserved category candidates
shall have to submit a copy of the certificate mentioning that the
candidates belongs to particular reserved category from an officer not
below the rank of S.D.O/SDM.
(iii) 3% seats shall be reserved for physically disabled candidates: Visually
impaired (1%), Hearing Impaired (1%) & Orthopaedically Handicapped
(1%). These 3% seats are within the intake limit : Percentage of disability
will be taken into consideration at the time of selection.

SUPERNUMERARY SEATS
There may be provision of reservation of 10 seats within the intake limit for the
ward of Magadh University employees working in Headquarter only as per
provision of general admission ordinance of Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya.

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION
a) Selection of candidates shall be made strictly as per rules of the University.
b) In all the admission, the reservation policy of the State Govt. of Bihar (for
educational institutions) and the University rules will be considered.
c) No candidate can claim admission as matter or right.
d) On the day of counselling, the candidate will have to produce all the
original documents as mentioned above along with prescribed fee for the
course in the form of DD. The demand draft be issued from any
Nationalised Bank in favour of "Director, Directorate of Distance
Education, Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya" payable at Bodh-Gaya.
Cash payment will not be accepted except in exceptional case.

ENTRANCE TEST
a) University will hold Entrance Test for selection of candidate. Selection for
admission shall be made strictly on the basis of performance in the
entrance test to be conducted by the University.
b) No Candidate will be permitted to appear in the Test without a valid Admit
Card. The admit card should be presented to the invigilators/other
authorised officials for verification. The candidate's identity will be verified
in respect of his/her details on the Admit Card. If the identity is in doubt,
the candidates may not be allowed to appear in the Test. The authorities
may at their discretion provisionally permit the candidate to appear in the
Test after completing formalities including taking of thumb
impression/several signatures for further verification. No extra time will be
granted for these formalities to be completed.
c) Selected candidate will be informed of their selection through news papers,
registered post selection letter. Selection list will also be available at Study
Centres, DDE office and our website.
d) Each Candidate will be required to appear in the Entrance test at the
Centre to which he/she has been allotted.
e) No telephonic enquiry will be entertained in this regard.
f) No change will be made in the test centre allotted to the candidate under
any circumstances.
g) Candidates failing to appear in the entrance test will not be considered for
admission.
h) The University reserves the right to amend the schedule, rules, course
structure and fee structure as and when it seems necessary.

DESCRIPTION OF ENTRANCE TEST
There will be objective type of test for admission in B.Ed. Programme. The test
comprises of 100 questions carrying one mark each. The objective type
questions are of multiple choice with four alternative answers (numbered 1,2,3,4)
to each question. Candidates are required to choose the correct one. For the
test, each candidate will be supplied a sealed question booklet (which contains
the question) and O.M.R. answer sheet.
The question paper will be in English & Hindi only.
Candidates should carefully go through and strictly adhere to all the
instructions given in the OMR Response sheet before they begin.
The candidates should bring their own black ball point pen of good quality.
This will not be supplied by the University.
Candidates should shade the correct response against each question in
the OMR response sheet only with a black point ball pen.
The candidate should sign in the attendance sheet at appropriate places.
The Admit card should be preserved and produced for verification at the
time of counselling/admission.
Violation of any instruction and adoption of any unfair means in the
examination hall will make the candidate ineligible for admission.
Use of Calculators, Log Tables, Watches with facilities of calculators,
pages, and cellular phones is strictly prohibited in the examination hall.
Candidates are also strictly forbidden from carrying any textual printed or
written, bits of paper, envelope of any other materials into the examination
hall except the admit card.
DISTRIBUTION OF MARKS
The question paper consists of two parts Part A and Part B.
Part- A : Consists of 80 questions carrying one mark each. Questions will be
asked from General English comprehension, Logical and Analytical Reasoning,
Educational & General awareness and Teaching-Learning and the school.
Part- B : Consists of 20 questions carrying one mark each. This part is based on
subject competence and contains faculty based questions i.e.
(i) Science faculty (ii) Humanities faculty
(iii) Social Science faculty (iv) Commerce faculty
Students are advised to answer only one set of faculty based questions which
they have opted. It they answer more than one set of faculty based questions
from part B, their answer sheet will be rejected by the computer.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION
In no case original documents be sent along with the admission form. Only
attested copies of the documents be enclosed. However, at the time of
admission the documents as listed below Heading "Admission Form" will
be required in original, along with their attested photo copies for
verification. Original documents will be returned to the candidate
immediately after verification.
The candidate selected for admission must pay the prescribed fees in full
at the time of admission itself and fill undertaking as required by the
Directorate.
There is no provisions of exemptions from course fee for any category of
candidates as it is self -finance course.
On the reverse side of the Demand Draft, the candidate must write his/her
name, Entrance Roll and the name of the course applied for.
Candidates are advised to retain photocopy of the Demand Draft for their
personal use.
In no case refund of fees will be allowed for any reason what so ever.

ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to attend the classes and other activities regularly. A
student must have completed 75% attendance, in the counselling classes held by
the university at the respective study centres, otherwise he/she will not be
permitted to appear in the B.Ed. final examination. Under unavoidable
circumstances prior permission for leave is essential. Leave applications should
be addressed to the Director, DDE only. The application must be recommended
by the concerned teacher of the Department.

IDENTITY CARD
All students admitted to B.Ed. course of the University will get Identity Card on
prescribed fee of Rs. 50/- which shall remain valid till completion of the course.

DISPUTE, IF ANY
1. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor or statutory
bodies of Magadh University shall be final & binding on all parties.
2. For any matter the legal jurisdiction shall lie in Gaya Court and / or Patna
High Court only.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Any change in the address of the candidate enrolled must be communicated to
the Department immediately.

RESULTS
Admission is based strictly on merit index prepared on the basis of marks
obtained in the entrance test following the reservation policy of the admission.
The merit list of provisionally selected candidates will also be available on the
website www.mudde.org. and notice board of DDE. Provisionally selection list will
also be sent to the individual candidate through registered post on his / her
address. No scrutiny/reevaluation of answer-sheet/Booklet of the test shall be
allowed on any ground. No representation or any query regarding result, conduct
of the test shall be entertained.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
A list of finally selected candidates will be prepared in order of merit, based on
their performance in the Entrance Test.

INSTRUCTION
The application form is required to be filled up by the candidates in CAPITAL
LETTERS (except signature and address) using either ink or ball pen in HIS/HER
OWN HAND WRITING. Where information is required to be filled in boxes, write
names in capital letters, leave one box blank between first and middle name and
also between middle name and last name or initiate of names. Your name,
Fathers name, Mothers name and Date of Birth in the application form should
exactly be the same as mentioned in the High School/Class X certificate. Any
discrepancy, whenever found, may lead to cancellation of your candidature.

BEFORE POSTING THE APPLICATION PLEASE ENSURE THAT
Make sure that you are using the correct application form.
You have read and understood all the instructions/informations given in
the Prospectus/application form carefully.
You have completed and submitted the form and have filled up the form
as per given instructions. Incomplete application forms shall not be
entertained.
You fulfill the eligibility for the B.Ed. Programme in the Distance Mode.
You are appointed in a recognised school and working till the date of filling
the Application form for Admission as well as on the date of admission.
You have enclosed requisite attested copies of all the certificates and
documents as required.
After verification, if it is found that the certificates and documents
submitted by the candidate are fake his/her admission shall be cancelled
and fees deposited will be forfeited and suitable legal action may be
initiated against the candidate.
You have indicated your correct STD code and phone No./Mobile No.
You have mentioned your correct email address.
The Prospectus once sold, cannot be returned in any circumstances as it
is non-refundable.
COURSE CURRICULUM
The programme is essentially a combination of theory and practical courses to
develop knowledge, skills and attitude in practicing teachers. Illustrations and
cases of relevant situations and activities comprise the core of each paper. The
core subject is suitably supported by theoretical aspects to the extend needed.
Thus, the programme consists of eight papers of 100 marks each. Out of eight,
there shall be seven theoretical and one practice teaching paper. Suggested
syllabus may be modified whenever required in the light of the syllabus
prescribed by NCTE.

DURATION OF COURSE
(a) The duration of the course shall be of two academic session.
(b) The final examination leading to the award of the degree shall be held at
the end of the academic session on the date notified by the University.

PRACTICE TEACHING
Practice teaching is an integral part of B.Ed. Programme. All students have to :
prepare 20 lesson plans in each method.
demonstrate 25 lesson in real situation under the supervision of subject
expert.
demonstrate atleast 5 lesson in presence of colleagues and subject expert
in real situation.
during practice teaching all students are expected to be in the school for
the entire duration of the school hours.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Co-Curricular activities are regular feature of B.Ed. Programme. Many different
Co-Curricular activities are organized at regular intervals of time i.e. Preparation
of T.L.M., organization of cultural programme, organization of science exhibition
and improvisation of apparatus etc.

REGISTRATION
A student who is not already registered with Magadh University will have to get
himself registered on payment of the requisite fees. The students who are not
registered under Magadh University shall not be allowed to appear at the
examination. However candidate of other University, need to be registered with
M.U. do not need to produce Migration Certificate.

EXAMINATION
To be admitted to the examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Education under
the distance mode, a candidate must have:
a) Completed the courses of study prescribed for the B.Ed. Programme
under the distance mode.
b) Registered under the University as a student.
c) Completed 75% attendance of the classes held, otherwise he/she will not
be permitted to appear at the B.Ed. examination.
d) The medium of examination for the course shall be English or Hindi or
Urdu.
e) The mode of instruction shall comprise printed lessons, holding contact
classes, evaluating response-sheets and using other audio-visual aids
available.
f) Courses of study for Bachelor of Education Examination (distance mode)
shall be the same as prescribed by the Academic Council of the Magadh
University.
g) Candidates who, have completed the course, failed to appear at the
examination or failed to pass the examination shall be allowed to take
subsequent examinations on payment of prescribed examination fees
without being required to complete the course again. However, this
opportunity shall be given only in two more examinations, within a period
not exceeding three years. Excluding the main examination held at the
end of the session.

CONDUCT OF EXAMINATION
(i) The examination shall be conducted by Magadh University which shall
also finalize the programme for the examination and necessary fee for its
conduction.
(ii) Candidates obtaining 60 per cent of the total marks in aggregate or more
shall be placed in First Class.
(iii) Candidates obtaining 45 per cent or more but less than 60 per cent of the
total marks in aggregate shall be placed in the Second Class.

PRACTICAL TRAINING/PRACTICE TEACHING
All students are required to go for practical training to different reaching institutes
for practical exposure.

ORDINANCE FOR ADMISSION

AWARD OF DEGREE
Those who complete the programme successfully shall be awarded appropriate
degree by Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya in a prescribed form specifying the
Class/Division in which he/she was placed.

ADMISSION AND SELECTION PROCEDURE
i) The selection of candidates for admission to the B.Ed. course in distance
mode shall be made on the basis of Entrance Test conducted by the
University.
ii) Admission shall be made strictly in order of merit, i.e. percentage of marks
secured by the candidates at the Entrance Test held for the purpose.
iii) Reservation of seats for the candidates of reserved categories will be as
per State Governments rules/M.U. rules for admission to other Degree
courses. In no case, the percentage of reservation fixed by the State Govt.
will exceed.
iv) Admission against these reserve seats will be made provided the
candidates have passed the qualifying examination and appeared in the
test and secured the qualifying marks in the entrance test i.e. 45%.
v) At any stage if it is found that candidate has furnished any false
information, his/her candidature shall be cancelled immediately.
vi) The University shall reserve the right to take any decision in all matters of
admission.
vii) No applicant shall be admitted, who in the opinion of Hon'ble Vice-
Chancellor, should not be admitted in the best interest of the University.

FEE STRUCTURE
A candidate is required to pay the entire course fees in one installment at the
time of admission through DD. The course will run on self-finance basis, hence,
fees may be revised by the University, if necessary.

Besides the above mentioned fees and charges, the cost of course
materials supplied to the students Rs. 6050/- would be borne by the candidate.
Each student has to procure Carry bag, Kits, Assignment Books, Lesson Plan,
Syllabus from the Department (approx. cost Rs. 2,000/-) at outsourced mode
from outside agency and Rs. 1,000/- towards Student's Welfare Fund Charge.
Each candidate appearing at the University examination will be required to pay
the prescribed examination fees & other charges of the University.
