What is Numerology?

Numerology is not about fortune telling, mind reading, the planets and their positions, casting spells or the occult. It is not magical or a mystery, it is purely an ancient science of numbers. It is about the numbers in your life and what they say about you, your personality, your abilities and talents, your hearts desire, your motivation and your natural tendencies. Numerology will give you deep insights into your life that will help you reach your highest potential at any given point in your life. Numerology is based on your full birth name, the name you use most frequently today including nick names and your date of birth. Each letter of the alphabet has a number representation and each number has a different and unique vibration. The Universe has many different vibrations that flow together much like an orchestra has many different instruments that when played correctly flow together in a harmony that is beautiful. The energies or vibrations of the Universe also vibrate in a harmonious way like music. Your life also is filled with vibrations that when allowed to operate to their full capacity will vibrate in a congruent way like music and like the Universal energy. When this happens you will experience a very satisfying and fulfilling life. When your vibrations are out of sync or are being suppressed in some way, you will experience a difficult or even unhappy life. The word Universe actually means Uni or one verse, one song. The latest physics publications have defined the Universe as a unified energy field. Your life experience is a symphony vibrating to the energies of your life as they flow in and through the energies of the unified energy field as one melody. When your energies are out of balance, your life experience is out of tune with the Universal symphony and this imbalance comes through as either obsessive, compulsive behaviors and emotional responses or as apathetic or lethargic, emotionless behaviors. Numerology is considered an ancient science of numbers because it was literally discovered thousands of years ago. The Greek philosopher, Pythagoras revived the science some 2600 years

ago but in more recent times the new phase of numerology is accredited to L. Dow Balliett who published several books on the subject. After that resurgence Dr. Julia Seton did a lot to make numerology a more widely known science. Others have also contributed like Juno Jordan, Florence Campbell and many more. Today there are a ton of books on the subject, it is all over the Internet and now everyone seems to know just a little about Numerology.

How does Numerology work?

Numerology is an ancient Science. Its believed that every person has preordained lessons to be learned from this life experience. Numerology recognizes an energy vibration which emanates from each number represented in a persons date of birth and birth name which affect the challenges, experiences, and opportunities each person encounters in their lifetime. Each letter of your name has a numeric value. The most influential number values emanate from your date of birth, which determines your life path. Each number represented by the letters of your names interplay with and influences the number vibration of your date of birth or Life Path number. All the number energies of your chart interact with each other and their value makes an impact on your life experience. These influencing energies directly affect your emotional intensities, ambitions, and abilities. When two people join in a relationship, their energies are also joined. It is now a proven fact that even spending time sitting next to someone will change your energy vibration while you are sitting together. Have you spent time in a group of highly spiritual individuals discussing spiritual ideas? You can feel your vibration rise. If the room was a little chilly when the group arrived, it isnt long before you want to turn on the fan. The energies experienced in a long-term relationship affect how the couple both relates within the confines of their own relationship and how they relate to others in their life experience. These energies may create challenges in some areas of their relationships, or they may enhance or embellish in other areas. NUMEROLOGY IS AN ANCIENT SCIENCEnot fortune telling or divining. It is prophesy in a way but serves as a much greater tool than a prediction. When you become aware of influences and obstacles, it becomes easier to make adjustments and changes based on gained knowledge. How well you adjust and make changes in those difficult situations determines how well you maneuver through those preordained life lessons not to mention how well you function within your relationships. Numerology is an amazing science and helpful tool for reaching your highest potential in this life experience. It allows you to take full advantage of the personalized knowledge awaiting you.

What is a Numerology Reading?

A reading in numerology is a chart of all the numbers represented in a persons life and a description of how those numbers affect that person. It shows their strengths and weaknesses, their potentials and challenges, their basic character traits, hearts desires, and motivation. It will show relationship compatibilities, growth periods, major cycles of life, pinnacles along the way and what to expect from the maturity years. A reading can help you understand yourself in a much deeper way and will also help you understand how you can effectively interact with others.

Creating a basic reading or a simplified reading can be compared to baking a cake. Basic White Cake Recipe 1 2/3 cups sugar 2/3 cup solid vegetable shortening 3 large eggs 2 large egg whites 1 1/4 cups whole milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 cups self-rising flour A generic white cake has self-rising flour, butter, egg whites, vanilla extract, milk, and of course, sugar. Your basic Numerology reading has: Self-rising flourLife Path number (body of cake) Vanilla extractBirthday number (enhances the cake) Egg WhitesExpression (Destiny) number (makes the cake a white cake) ButterSoul Urge Number (the grease that makes the cake palatable) MilkMaturity number (makes it great in the end) SugarPersonality number (gives it the yummy quality) There is the basic cake recipe but if you were to add chocolate, coconut, spices, fruit, pumpkin, chocolate chips, nuts, etc. your cake would no longer be considered a basic white cake. However, the main ingredients that make it a cake are still there and must remain to make your cake edible. By adding more ingredients you have modified your basic cake recipe to make it even yummier and more interesting. The same goes for a basic Numerology reading. The core elements; the life path number, the destiny number, the soul urge number, the personality, growth and maturity numbers all build a basic understanding of a person and tells why they do what they do or feel what they feel. Once you begin to add more modifiers to the mix, the deeper will be your insights and the more interesting the reading. The more you discover and understand the potentials and challenges of your entire life experience and how to reach your highest purpose the easier it will be for you to handle lifes roadblocks. How great is that?

Discover How a Numerology Reading is Used

Perhaps the best way to explain how a Numerology reading used is to tell a little story. A numerologist sits at her office desk and in walks a potential client. He introduces himself as Matt and says he is struggling with a career choice. He is not happy with his current occupation even though he makes a very comfortable income. This is a very simple request and just a very basic reading should quickly provide him with a positive direction in his career choices.

The first thing the numerologist will do is make a quick assessment of his first name. At this point it is the only information she has been given. Right away she uses her knowledge of name analysis through numerology and knows his natural tendencies are to be a strong independent worker who is well grounded with a strong awareness of the material world suggesting he is probably very practical and good with money. She can tell this by the energy of the first two letters of his name, m and a as well as how the m is structured. It is obvious also that Matt is a nickname that he must use often because this is how he introduced himself to her. The energy of the name Matt is 9 which is about someone who cares a great deal about his community and wants to be of service to his fellow man. Already she can tell he is probably experiencing conflicting energies. She will now ask his basic information to create a quick chart. She asks his date of birth, his full birth name or given name and the name he uses most frequently today. After calculating this basic information she can now see his core numbers, the numbers that carry the greatest influence in his life. Matts given first name is Matthew which is as she had anticipated but spells it with two Ts instead of one. This gives Matthew a 9 energy which is the same as his chosen nickname. His Life Path number is an 8 which is about hard work and stability or practicality. So far she knows his destined path in life is one of being the stable hard worker but his personality is one who has compassion for his fellow man. These can be very confusing energies for Matt. The 8 and 9 do not usually mix well. The 8 views the world from a material standpoint while the 9 sees the world from a spiritual perspective. Further calculations show that Matt has a destiny or expression number of 4 but his soul urge or essence number is 9. This means that Matt is destined to experience or express life through his hard work ethics. However, the thing that motivates him, the urging deep within his soul or his heart of hearts is that of compassion for his fellow man and he longs inwardly to somehow be of service to his community.

Matt has an 8 Life Path which means his direction in life is that of achievement and success especially as it relates to business savvy. So now she knows that his maturity number is 3 which is about enjoying material pleasures, being creative and having fun in life. This is fitting being that he is experiencing a lifetime of working hard toward monetary success and also being driven to give of his talents to community service. A much deserved fitting conclusion to this life will be to reap the benefits of his efforts and to finally have fun with what he spent his life creating. Being that Matt is only just entering his second major cycle of life he is still in the building stages. This means that his career choice is extremely important right now as it will set the stage for a very happy ending. At this point in the reading our numerologist has a couple very solid suggestions for Matt as to a good career choice. Before offering any advice from her findings, she asks Matt his work history. He tells her his first real job was as a mechanic. He said he did make decent money doing it and was pretty good but it was not something he really enjoyed doing. The job became a drudge so he decided to make a huge change and became a salesman and started out as a used car salesman. He did very well and was moved into the sales department specializing in new cars, very expensive new cars. Even though he does very well selling new cars and is making good money, Matt is not really happy with his career choice. He feels somehow unfulfilled. He enjoys making the big commission checks but feels torn when he sells a car to someone he knows really cannot afford the extravagant expensive new car. Some days it is really hard work for him but other days it seems much better. He is confused.

Looking at Matts chart, it is obvious that he is feeling conflicted because his soul is urging him to be of service to his fellow man. Those days when he sells an expensive car to someone who has no business buying one, his soul is conflicted. He is not being of service to this person and his heart tells him so. When he does sell a new vehicle to someone who can easily afford this luxury he knows he has made them happy and feels he has provided a service to them. This is an easier work day and the commission check is much sweeter for him. Now our numerologist can explain to Matt why he feels this way. Being a mechanic was drudgery because it only fulfilled his need to work hard and in such provided the stability he enjoyed. Moving into sales was a better fit but he is feeling conflicted and dissatisfied with his sales career because it does not often fulfill his need to be of service to his fellow man. Sales may be a good career choice but perhaps he is in the wrong kind of sales. She explains to Matt that to reach his ultimate goal in his mature years of being able to relax and enjoy the wealth he has created he will need to make a change now. Matts strong urge toward being of service to his community might better be served if his career choice were selling insurance. Insurance is something that everyone needs and will provide great benefits to the person who buys what Matt offers. By selling security to others in the way of insurance will not only be a type of service to his fellow man but will be a lucrative business venture as well. This will satisfy his soul urge and his life path direction. Another career choice might be an accountant. This is all about good management of money which is his area of expertise and it will benefit others helping them make the best use of their finances. Matt does admit that making money has always come easy to him so with his business savvy and his credentials he might want to consider being a business consultant. Once again he would be using all of his energies to their fullest potential. Matt might also consider being a fund raiser. With his knack for making money and his compassion for his community, this might also be a good fit or at least a great way to spend his free time. Matt enjoys hard work and money so fund raising would actually be a fun activity for him to consider. It could be something he might enjoy doing when he reaches his retirement years. Even though this has been just a very basic Numerology reading, Matt is stunned. After a brief silence he tells our numerologist that just last week while sitting down with his insurance agent, out of the blue he had been offered an opportunity to become an agent himself. His agent said that he was sure Matt would do very well and his company was in need of a new recruit who showed potential. Matt admitted that the offer, although taking him off guard, was something he had been seriously considering ever since. He also had not thought of doing fund raising and that too had a lot of interest for him. Matt left her office with a lot to think about and a much better understanding of his own energies. This is a simple story about just one way a Numerology Reading is used. The more in-depth the reading goes the greater the understanding the person will have about who they truly are and why they feel the way they do about the experiences they have in life.

Understanding the core elements is like understanding the music of your soul. Understanding the inner workings of the ancient science of Numerology should begin with the core elements. These are the most influential numbers in a persons life and as such are the core or foundation of all that a person is; their personality traits, potentials and challenges.

All the numbers and their vibrations are based on these two simple guidelines: Numbers used are always in a cycle of 1 through 9 Numbers are always reduced down to their simplest form, a single digit unless they are Master numbers 11,22, and possibly 33

The numbers in the chart are reduced to a single digit (unless they are the master numbers 11, 22, or 33). The numbers run in cycles of 1 through 9. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a number energy. The universal energy of each number is the number vibrating in its purest form. Once other components are added, the vibration is changed or modified. The Life Path number in particular, is written in numerology with the last double digit followed by a slash and then the final single digit as the main numbers. For instance, a 6 life path number may be written like 24/6 or 15/6 depending on the two-digit number just before the final single digit. (2 + 4 = 6 or 1 + 5 = 6) What does this mean? In our illustration, 6 is the Life Path number. What lies directly behind that number influences how the vibrations of the 6 are felt or expressed. For instance, if the final two numbers before the 6 were 24 then the number is written as 24/6 life path number. The basic energy of the 6 life path is a person who feels great responsibility toward their family and friends and shows much love for them. The 24 energy behind this loving 6 tells how this person will handle or express that loving responsibility as they walk their path in life. The energies of the 2 and the 4 in 24 describes a person who needs to work hard at finding ways to bring peace and balance to his family and friends. He is works at being the support they need to meet their challenges in life. However, if the numbers directly before the 6 are 15 the life path number is written as 15/6. The 1 and 5 of the 15 describes a person with the same loving responsibility but one who needs to take the responsibility on himself to find various ways to bring positive changes to his family and friends. He feels he needs to solve their problems for them. These are two individuals with the same life path number but how they approach their loving walk in very different. Being that it is important to know the underlying energies behind the core numbers, it is almost always a good practice to make note of the double digit directly preceding

the final single digit number.

The CORE Elements

There are about twenty components in a persons birth date and birth name. The CORE of a reading involves only five of these components. The main CORE or the foundation of the reading consists of the following elements: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Life Path (always modified by the day of birth) Expression or Destiny Soul Urge or Essence Personality Maturity or Growth

Using the core numbers will give you a basic numerology reading. The core numbers are accurate as far as they go but as you add other components or modifiers to the persons reading, the reading changes. The following are four ways that adding other components will change the energy influences in the reading:

The relative power of the elements. Each element has a shift in power when other components are added and the energy is influenced. The modifying abilities of the elements. The strength of the elements and their ability to affect the reading are changed as more components are added. The amount of harmony or discord the elements provide will change when more components are added especially when the numbers are repeated or doubled. The effectiveness of the combined elements can also change.

Mixing paint can be compared to how the elements change in a reading when more components are added. You can start out with a can of pure white paint but when you add just a drop of yellow pigment you immediately alter the color to white with just a hint of yellow. Now if you add a drop of blue it will change the paint to white with a hint of green. However, if you add a drop of red to the mix your white will change to light beige. Add two or three drops of red and you will have salmon or pinkish beige. Add more yellow and you are on your way to orange. The CORE or foundation of the paint is still white but depending on the additions to the white, the color is affected. It is changed in appearance and in value. Changing the value of the paint turns it into either a warm or a cool color. If just one drop of yellow is added there will be just a hint of yellow but two or three drops of yellow and the paint is no longer viewed as white but rather pale yellow. It will no longer be used as white paint. The paint will no longer be considered white with just a touch of yellow; it will be yellow paint. How number energies will change: Numerology readings will change depending on the modifiers or the added components. Here is how a reading may change. As an example lets say the person in the reading has a 4 life path number because his date of birth is February 3, 1961. This means he is hard working, practical and orderly. His birthday is the 3 energy so combine this with the 4 and we now see that he is creative about his hard work and tends to have fun with the work he does. He enjoys working hard. He is not seen as a person who works hard but as a person who enjoys working hard. His basic white has a drop of yellow and it affects his personality traits and his abilities. His friends will say, Oh he is happy today, he is hard at work on his latest project! For this person, laying on the couch with the remote and a bag of chips is not satisfying. Now if his expression or destiny number, which tells of his abilities, is a 1 we see that the hard work he does is best used in an executive or administrative role. Adding a drop of red to the mix, the 1 energy, makes him an independent thinker and worker. His white with just a hint of yellow is now changing color and value. The 3 energy spurs him on to be an original and creative leader. However, say his soul urge or his essence (the driving or motivating force behind him) is an 8. The 8 intensifies the life path 4 and gives him specific direction and

purpose. His color deepens. His intensity deepens. Now we understand that he is driven to wealth, success, status and power. His path in life of hard work clearly has a specific purpose, that of achievement. He probably has a tendency to approach his efforts from the standpoint of being dominant and controlling. He may be too dominating, too exacting, stubborn or rigid and repress his feelings. However, with the yellow of his 3 energy in the mix, his personality will be tempered and his rigid edges may be softened and he may find it easier to lighten up on himself and others and enjoy the creative side of his 4 life path. His basic white is strengthened because the 4 and 8 energies work well together and that energy is boosted. Still the 3 of the birthday keeps his white tinted with a hint of yellow. His 3 personality is an added element, more yellow, that softens his approach to life and brings some creativity and fun to his life. Now the guy who is all about hard work, money and success has a fun side bringing balance to his life. His stark white is now a shade of yellow making him a much more pleasant person to be around. If the maturity or growth number is also a 3 then this approach to life may come to him in his later years. The growth number will give me little boosts when he most needs it along his path in life. Then, during his third major cycle he will finally understand that his true joy comes from the creation aspect of his strong work ethic and that following the flow of his originality and creativity will produce the success his soul demands of him. This will hit him hard because there are repeated 3s in his core. Now his white has been mixed with extra yellow and the intensity of the change affects his life. More components can be added to the basic 4 life path number or his basic white that will describe him further. For instance, looking at his 4 life path number, the modifiers, the last two numbers used to reduce down to the 4 is 13. This means that behind his 4 is a karmic debt, which he is destined to work through in this life experience. The 13 means he chose the 4 life path to correct the abuse of work related responsibility in a previous life. He probably acted selfishly burdening others with his rightful share of the work. Adding the 13 energy is like adding a drop of red and a drop of yellow into the now pale yellow paint. This changes his color from pale yellow to a hint of salmon. His energies have been influenced or modified slightly by adding the karmic 13. Hopefully you can see that the basic 4 energy of the hard worker who is practical, organized and disciplined is still true but you have a much broader picture of this person than you did with just the life path 4 energy. No one is just pure white. Everyone has a mix of energies that create their personality, abilities, challenges, desires and opportunities for growth. Understanding the core elements is the beginning of understanding the person.
