Organization Setting and Reporting The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. This post is located in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, under the UN-Habitat Tehran Disaster Mitigation Office. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the UN-Habitat Disaster Mitigation Office in Tehran, I.R. of Iran, the intern will practice and learn to:

1. Coordinate the activities of the component A and B of the office mandate defined as Sustainable Disaster Risk Mitigation and Enforcement of Building Codes in accordance with the orientations and guidelines, and in agreement with UNHabitat Disaster Mitigation Office in Tehran, I.R. of Iran. 2. Coordinate delivery of products and services with the implementing partners. 3. Coordinate and give substantive support in the design of the methodology, the coordination of the activities on site, and the reporting process. 4. Compile, analyze, summarize and present basic information/data on the component activities.

5. Prepare bid and contract documents for the consultancy services and works contracts about the reconstruction, rehabilitation and renovation of buildings and lifelines 6. Review seismic strengthening designs provided by external intuitions and consultants and provide construction management and technical consultancy 7. Contribute to timely and effective project implementation from technical point of view; provide structural data for monitoring and evaluation purposes. 8. Data collection, analysis and draft report writing, 9. Collating, crosschecking and editing draft reports and sending for international review. 10. Undertake other duties as assigned by the UN-Habitat DMO office. Languages English and French are the official working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English or Russian is required. Preferred area of study Advanced university degree preferably with Ms. (Candidate or Completed) in one of the following fields: Civil Engineering Structural Engineering Earthquake Engineering Seismology Urban Planning Disaster Risk Reduction
