VOL. # ONE ISSUE #1

Roatn, Honduras
Mission Trip August 1-9, 2013
Last month, we started training for The Creation, the wordless drama we will be performing in Honduras. James and Patricia Roan, along with their children, Stephanie, Christian, and Daniel lead a drama training workshop on March 23rd. It was the first time I actually saw the drama being performed and it moved me to tears. I am excited that we will be able to use it as an evangelism tool in the public schools, community, and the Garifuna village on the island. We have several rehearsals, then one of the teams will perform it at Galilee Baptist Churchs Bake Auction and Fiesta on Sunday, May 5th. You are invited to join us after church for a taco lunch and to watch the adult team perform. The youth team will perform on June 12th for Thrive Student Ministries, and we have two other performances booked in the upcoming months.

literacy. The children there speak some English, but they cant read or write in English. In poor countries, those who are fluent in English have a tremendous advantage.

For several months, we have been praying about an opportunity to connect with the Garifuna village, Punta Gorda. The Garifuna are an indigenous people group who still maintain their traditional animistic beliefs. A small percentage of them Enjoying a yummy lunch break during ESL class have converted to Christianity and there is at least one Evangelical church. I contacted the IMB and Rick Sorenson, the volunteer coordinator for Greenfield Childrens home, to get information about the Garifuna and to see if they knew of any missionaries or local churches we could work with. The IMB gave me a name, who gave me another name, who gave me another name, which was a dead end. But, last week, Rick emailed me and said they were able to make a connection with a Garifuna pastor and we will be able to visit the village! At this point, I dont know what we will be doing, but am trusting the Lord to go ahead of us and open doors. The Garifuna have an interesting history and a lively culture. I am looking forward to getting to know them.
