Seventh Sunday of Easter May 12, 2013

April 24, 2011 , 2010

As a result of the Parish Pastoral Council election, I would like to welcome Mia Preston, Scott Meredith & Mike Kardohely as new council members. We appreciate everyones willingness to be a part of this ministry. These three will attend our next meeting which will be Monday, May 20th at 7pm in the church meeting room. At that meeting we will also thank Evelyn Brodeur, Bonnie Krueger and Scott McLain for their service and free them from future meetings so they can serve the parish in other areas. Next Saturday, May 18th, we will have a simple reception for Deacon Joe Johnson in the Gathering Room of the church right after the 5pm Mass. Please take a moment to stop & congratulate him on his Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Ordination to the Diaconate and thank him & his wife Joan for all they do (and have done) for the parish. Ad Multos Annos! (Latin for To many years). Next Saturday is also the day when Bishop Lennon will ordain men to the Priesthood for service in the Diocese of Cleveland. And this year, thanks to Rooted in Faith, there will be a live broadcast of the ordination ceremony. The stream will begin at 9:45am (Mass begins at 10am). Those wishing to view the stream can do so via a desktop/laptop computer, iPad, iPhone, Android device, Blackberry or Kindle. The stream will be available at www.dioceseofcleveland.org. How cool is that? Pray for these new priests (and for us old priests too!). To honor our Mothers on this day when we remember their loving sacrifices for us, some men of the parish have generously prepared a breakfast which can be enjoyed after the 10am Mass this Sunday. May our Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for all the women of our parish today as we honor her too, the Mother of the Church, during this month of May. Please keep in prayer the sick of our parish, especially Dick Rodgers, Scott DeRodes, Ray Hirsch, Tracy Lenhoff and Freda Brazis. May these and all those who are ill find healing & strength.

DEACON'S CORNER: Michael Haburay, one or our Boy Scouts, is taking over the Marian Shrine project as his Eagle Scout project, so I'll let him take over the rest of my Deacon's Corner today. Members of the Parish, You all have been a part of my life in your own special ways and have helped raise me since I was very small. As a result, you all have a lot to do with the man I have become today. Now it only seems to be right that my Eagle Scout project is one that benefits this church and effectively all of you. I will be planning, with the help of Deacon Pete and all the members of the troop, to rebuild the flower garden around the Marian shrine. This effort I think is the least I can do to show my appreciation and that of the whole troop for all this parish has done for us. While we build this garden we are still in need of donations to make this project a reality that the whole parish will enjoy. Your donations will be welcomed and will help this project be a reality. Please direct all donations to Deacon Pete or myself. To contact me please call 330-466-9034. God Bless, Michael W. Haburay II Ladies Guild Mother & Child Banquet Monday, May 13 Monday evening we will be having the Mother & Child Banquet at Jakes Restaurant in Ashland! Dinner will be around $15 per person. Kids menu is available. Free will donations are appreciated. We will meet at 6pm and eat at 6:30. All ladies of the parish are welcome. Office of Catechetical Services Collection: Today Each year in the Diocese of Cleveland a special collection is taken up in all the parishes to support the ministries of the Office of Catechetical Services. The Office of Catechetical Services focuses on supporting and enhancing the catechetical initiative (PSR programs) throughout the Diocese and supports faith formation for all including adult faith formation, catechetical leader training and catechist formation for teachers of religion, media literacy, and the Newman Campus Ministry program.

THE WORD AMONG US: In the past we have made this magazine available for free at Lent and Advent. The last couple of times we have had a lot of them left over, but I think there are a number of us who really enjoy reading the Mass readings and the meditation that go with them. Starting with the June issue, we will be offering a limited quantity of these for the price of $2.00 each. IHM Homeschool Conference June 7 & 8, 2013 The Immaculate Heart of Mary Cleveland Homeschool and Parent Conference will be held at St. Adalberts Parish Keller Center, 66 Adalbert Street., in Berea, on Friday, June 7th (2:00pm 8:00pm) and on Saturday, June 8th (9:30am 3:30pm). Confirmed speakers include: Fr. Shenan Boquet, Dr. Catherine Moran, Mrs. Amy Kalscheur, Mr. Michael, and Mrs. Virginia Seuffert! Admission is free and pre-registration is not required. For more information, please call 540-636-1946, email info@ihmconference.org or visit www.ihmconference.org Did Mary have other children besides Jesus? Jesus is the only son of Mary in the physical sense. Even in the early Church, Marys perpetual virginity was assumed, which rules out the possibility of Jesus having brothers and sisters from the same mother. In the Aramaic Language, Jesus mother tongue, there is only one word for sibling and cousins. When the Gospels speak about the brothers and sisters of Jesus, they are referring to his close relatives. (From the Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church) (Youcat #81) Pentecost Mass Celebration Catholic Renewal Ministries will host a Pentecost Mass Celebration, Sunday, 19 May at St. Michael Church, 6540 Brecksville Rd., Independence. The celebration will start at 2:00 p.m. with praise and worship, and a time of prayer for the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Mass will begin at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to join in this celebration of Pentecost. There will be an opportunity for individual healing prayer and also fellowship time after Mass. For more information, please contact Fr. Bob Franco at 440-3272201 or CRM at 440-944-9445. A Gathering for Prayer and Healing June 2 nd in Lodi Join Our Lady Help of Christians for an evening of reflection and prayer as we are called to receive and give healing. We will focus on the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects to facilitate healing on all three simultaneously. Please come in FAITH to heal with Gods help as we gather for this purposeful evening. Mothers Day Breakfast All Moms and their families are invited to breakfast in Hackman Hall on Sunday between the 9 and 11 am masses. This is just a small token to show our appreciation for all you do as Mom. Its a great way to start your day!
