For this brainstorm, you are going to write down ideas for 2 possible stories. Use point form and try to work as much DESCRIPTION into each section as you can. After, you will choose which one you like best and use it as a starting point for writing your rough draft. Possible Story #1 Possible Story #2 Setting -Present day 1. Where and when -Somewhere in the country might my story take -Present Day (spooky scene) place consider the -New york -Summer time following: -Around fall/winter -Alabama What Country? -October-December What City?
What Year? What Season? What Date?

Mood

1. What mood might I use in my story? 2. How might I create this mood?

-Happy/Sad at times -Add details that could express the passion that Jersey has for dance -Use other details that really express the different moods of the story -Jersey DuVae *17 years old *Short, brown hair *Dancer-wants to go professional *Started dancing because of her grandmother

The mood of this story that I am going to try and get across is the mood of fear. -Situations that make you scared -imagery details that are extremely vivid -Jonah *17 years old Just moved into the town of cottonwood Alabama Spending his summer working for his uncle buck down at the cotton factory -Uncle Buck Sheriff of cottonwood Knows a secret that no one else in the town knows Denise Louise Calpot *17 years old Lives on her own in cottonwood Has an idea of what goes on at the cotton factory and wants to get to the bottom of the murders that have been going on

Characters

Inciting Action/Problem
1. What could happen to get the story going and around which the story will revolve? 2. What could be the major problem that the protagonist will struggle to resolve?

Jerseys grandmother is diagnosed with cancer the same time Jersey gets an audition call for the New York City Ballet Money starts to become a major issue Jersey has to decide whether to take the call or stay home and take care of her grandmother -Grandma on her death bed -Not getting accepted to the dance school -Money issues Lola and Jersey Jersey and Lessie These conflicts are situations that are holding Jersey from her dream Lola was trying to beat the cancer so she could see Jersey

Every summer 10 new workers come looking for a job at the cotton factory, every summer these 10 teenagers are murdered. Jonah and Denise are the next two victims to be murdered but they will have to find the murder before their time comes. Jonahs uncle buck gets charged with being a witness to the murders and not saying anything Jonah then is accused of being the murderer by Denise

Conflict

1. What could the major conflicts be in my story? 2. Who might these conflicts be between? 3. What types of conflict could these be and why?

Rising Action
What SPECIFIC events might happen after the problem is revealed while the protagonist is trying to resolve the problem? (must include at least 10 events for each possible story)

get accepted to the school of her dreams - Grandma cant afford to pay for cancer surgery - Jersey gets suspended for something that wasn't her fault - Lessie tries to injure Jersey - Lessie tries to persuade the grandma into letting lessie pay to have her surgery done in return to get jerseys spot at the school

-Uncle buck gets put in jail -Denise starts having weird things happen in her house -denises best friend gets murdered -

Climax

1. What might happen at the most interesting point in my story? (what have all of the other events been building up to?)

The grandma finds money to pay for her surgery without the help of Lessie, so the deal is off.

Denise finds the murderer in her attic with the bodies recently killed thrown around the room

Ending

1. What will happen after the climax and at the end of my story?

Neither one of the girls make it into the school. Jersey ends up staying at her original dance studio and taking it over.

The murderer is not the person everyone thought it would be. He uses different people to cover him up so he

will never get caught

2. What type of ending will this be and why? (Denouement? Climactic? Ironic Twist?)

Point of View

I will use first person point of view. The point of view of 1. What point of view Jersey.
would I like to use when writing my story?

This story will be told in the point of view of Jonah.

2. Why do I think this point of view will work best for my story?

I think this point of view will work best for my story because the you could really get the feel of what Jersey is feeling and you get a better

This point of view will work best with my story because it will give you a better understanding of how the characters feel during all the events.
