Job Description

Position Title: Reports to: Department: Date Revised: FLSA Status: Summary: This individual is knowledgeable in a variety of scientific concepts, practices and procedures that are either directly or indirectly related to the development of new products or the improvement of existing ones. Collaborate with other scientists internal or external to design, plan and execute experimental research protocols. Evaluates the scientific literature to apply and develop innovative scientific methods to poultry vaccines. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Designs, executes and oversees poultry vaccine research and development projects from the beginning to the end. 2. Designs, executes and oversees relevant laboratory animal experiments with minimal oversight ensuring that deadlines are met. 3. Plan and executes full scale projects and generate timely professional protocols, progress reports, and final scientific reports on projects for internal or external communication. 4. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions in the method transference to the other company departments. 5. Conduct and supervises statistical analysis to validate the scientific methods developed, standardized or adapted in a timely manner. 6. Transfers, implements and follows up that the new methods or manufacture techniques to other company departments including, but not limited to, Quality Control, Process Improvement, Production and Regulatory Affairs. 7. Provides scientific guidance and direction to some R&D Associates ensuring that deadlines are met by leading their research tasks; assigning objectives, priorities and providing hands-on coaching when necessary. 8. Conducts constructive feedback and initial disciplinary actions for employee development and goals following the company policies. Report and collaborate with the Director of R&D on continued performance issues or concerns. 9. Represents the company in the global scientific community by attendance and presentations of papers at relevant scientific meetings, trade shows, and to regulatory authorities. Core Competencies: 1. Qualifications: Must have a PhD degree emphasis in Biotechnology, Virology, Immunology, Veterinary Medicine or Biology; a Master Degree with and three (3) years of experience in the poultry vaccine industry or a Bachelor degree and 10 years of experience will be considered in lieu of PhD degree. Individual should be able to demonstrate knowledge, expertise and ability to lead own and other scientists projects with minimal oversight. Good written and verbal communications skills with individuals inside of the company as well as with their department colleagues. Must have the ability use statistical tools to interpret and analyze technical data for evaluating results and solving problems. The candidates must have the ability to work independently and within a team. Should be enthusiastic, goal oriented and have a passion for research. Demonstrate flexibility to work weekends/evenings is it is required and be comfortable with tight timelines and/or changing priorities.
