F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? Assessment will be from completion of posters. Teacher will focus on whether the students show comprehension through discussion of presentation of posters. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. I will know if students grasped the sense of life in the Southeast Region by the detail of the posters. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? The question and answer portion of this lesson will be the easiest to teach because students should be somewhat familiar with Native American regions by this lesson. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? The creation of the poster will be the most challenging part of the lesson if adequate amount of time is not available. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? This lesson will continue with additional lessons on Native American Regions. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? I could suggest students read trade books on the subject from the library. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I am not sure if there will be enough time for the creation of the poster. I might need to break this lesson into two parts if that happens to be the case. Also, as time goes on, I would hope to have a wider selection of artifacts to present for this lesson. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part was deciding how to get the students to relate to what an Indian Village might have looked like. It is one thing to look at pictures, but I thought if they created a poster, or constructed an Indian village, it would help them visualize what Columbus might have encountered upon his arrival.
